You weren't really worried that Dinocember 2 was going to pass without this particular film being tackled, were you? Jurassic World was such a major event in film, being the first Jurassic Park movie released in over a decade, it quickly became the top movie of the year (luckily released before The Force Awakens) and it's looming release inspired the original Dinocember. But I'm not here to gawk over how grand a project it was, my job is to pick it apart scene by scene and find everything I can to complain about. Then decide if I like it despite that. :D

probably it's just it's been so long and going to jurassic world is HELLA EXPENSIVE. you have to go on a cruise boat, get a reservation at a hotel, admission into the park, and don't forget the expensive margaritas :P the hype of dinosaurs actually existing died down and lots of people couldn't use that to justify the priceyness anymore

A lot of people do it (pick apart plot holes and lapses in logic) that it has become really hard to feel confident about an original screenplay these days. Fiction and film relies on the willing suspension of disbelief- or, at least they used to. But then the amount of research and fact checking you need to do to write a true story has become equally difficult, it's pretty much killing my passion for my work.
@Alknix
@Alknix 7 жыл бұрын
Cyril They still do, of course, but WSD is supposed to reconcile the viewer with the fantastical setting, make us let slide the fact that a man can fly, or do magic, or clone dinosaurs. It is not and should not be an excuse for moronic or nonsensical behavior, unless it's some kind of plot point like in "Idiocracy" or "Demolition Man". But those movies WORKED to make character stupidity an integral part of their plot and message. What reason do people in this movie (and many others) have for being such dumb cunts, other than it's easier for the screen writers?
@tylerskiss
@tylerskiss 7 жыл бұрын
Alknix This isn't the best film to make my point because it is poorly written and highly flawed. But the culture is still there, tearing apart far better films, fact checking the smallest details about gravity or rates of combustion or even the amount of time it takes to get from Long Beach to Palm Springs using average daily traffic statistics- tiny details that kill the creative flow and make it hard. Do people need to know these facts? I saw one video complaining about the fact that you can't pull useable DNA from a mosquito trapped in amber to make a dinosaur- which is true, but it is not common knowledge. One is not stupid because they believed that possible, but of course, in this day an age, not only are you an idiot for ever buying that idea, but the writer is now a dick for ever having attempted it- forget the fact that he found an interesting way to bring an impossible story idea to life, it is now on us to make sure everything is possible and without flaw. Or maybe we just want everyone to be a "dumb cunt", I guess....

About the Flare-Thing; the reason why it worked fore Claire when it didn't work for Malcom has more to do with the Indominus Rex than the actual flare. Remember back to the original movie; the rex DID look in the direction of the flare after Malcom threw it, but kept chasing him because he was more interesting. HOWEVER when Claire does the same thing, the T-Rex would clearly see that the presence of a large alpha predator - the Indominus Rex. And since T-Rex's are territorial by nature, seeing another queen bitch on her turf is unacceptable. She was completely distracted from Claire by her desire to fight off the Indominus.

The flare thing was set up earlier in the movie with the Rex feeding scene earlier on, the flare was used as a feeding cue for the Rex in the flare drops, it comes and gets a goat...something relatively common for training to a signal there. The reason it went for the Indominus was due to them both being large predators and territory there, something similar to the Spino fight with the Rex in JP3

Love the review :D I think the reason the flare distraction worked in Jurassic World was because, Claire wasn't the only thing moving. With Ian, he threw the flair, which was a tiny pinprick of light, but kept running. He remained the biggest moving target and the T-rex stayed on his ass. With Claire though, she not only tossed the flare, but she threw it at the Indominus. Between the huge dinosaur and a still running Claire, Rex chose the larger moving target to hone in on. If the Indominus hadn't been there, I've no doubt T-rex would have continued after Claire.

Combining dinosaur D.N.A. with mollusk D.N.A. seems like it would be a lot harder." 20:00 I think that they didn't have shock collars on the flying dinosaurs because the glass dome had them built in, only on the inside. Which is why the Indominus had no problem breaking through from the outside. But the T-rex, I got nothing there. Maybe she was too old or something. And they probably deactivated the raptor's.

Well, this was a fun review that was well worth the wait! Easily my favourite part of the review: "Goddamn sexual Tyrannosaurus!!" Definitely great to see that old joke make a triumphant return. The one counter-argument I will throw out there is that Rexy could probably smell the Indominus lurking outside of her paddock and considered her a serious threat that needed to be killed, so Claire weren't her main focus of interest. The 4/5 rating was certainly higher than I had expected, and I still hold the original Jurassic Park at a higher rating, but still, loved watching!! :)

Fun fact, Gray was originally written as being autistic, hence why he counted things like how many minutes it would take to drive to the airport and how many teeth each dinosaur had. Unfortunately, it seems like they simply abandoned this character feature for him after about the first 1/4 or 1/3 of the film. I say unfortunately because it would have been a new and unique thing for the character instead of relying on the old trope 'young kids get lost in Jurassic Park and have to survive dinosaurs'' like the previous three movies. Instead, they could have had the focus be more on how a young boy with autism tries to cope with the stressful situation of his parents divorcing, something an autistic youth might truly struggle to understand, followed by the insane situation of the dinosaurs getting loose, and would have given his older brother far better motivation to change from being a cold asshole into his younger brother's protector, instead of it just happening because they ran away from the I-Rex.

It may not be the best movie in terms of... well, everything that makes a movie good, but at least it's better than the other sequels. Out of all the other sequels, I'd say this one is the best out of all of them. Not necessarily a great sequel, but it's the best one out of all of the Jurassic Park sequels (Not counting the first one).

I'm glad that they gave Dr. Wu a more important role in these movies because even though he dies in the original book, he does play a much bigger role including a good argument for genetically modifying the dinosaurs more to make them more docile and less aggressive. But his suggestions are shot down be Hammond.

@kurvos
@kurvos 8 жыл бұрын
+Danell Lawrenece They didn't design the spino wrong in the third more than they designed the velociraptors wrong in the first one. Easiest to just excuse it all by being genetically altered.
@dilynazzopardi2598
@dilynazzopardi2598 8 жыл бұрын
+Danell Lawrenece they technically didn't design spino wrong because that is how it looked at the time and a rex was more powerful than spino because spino is built for fishing while rex is built for just killing. The reason they made spino win is because they wanted a new star dino and because the scientist thought longer=more powerful, by that logic, a shantungasaurus would kill most aquatic and all terrestrial carnivores.

18:02 Well, gas slightly deteriorate... but cars can be started up with 30 year old gasoline, but it will need an oilchange and most likely swap out some rubber hoses first. And of course, a fresh battery. That's enough to get it started, although the brakes will likely be rust welded together, so the car can start moving, but it can't stop!

@@captainsimp8864 Jurassic World 4/5???? This movie had unlikable leads, a poor story that forgot plot points ten seconds after it established them ( what happened to the perimeter implants that should zap the dinoes? Disappeared entirely!!!), and bad attempts to define who are the "heroes" and who are the " villains"( Claire makes dinosaurs for profit="hero" Vincent Dinofrio's character makes dinosaurs for profit AND to cut down on human casualties in war="villain"??). The CGI was meh ( for a Jurassic Park movie "meh" might as well be " pathetic") . The characters so dumb ( Walking into the Indominus cage when they don't know where it is! Opening the big door in said cage when there is a little , man sized on right next to it. Letting the guests control wherever they want to go in those hamster ball things. The soldiers not immediately shooting the I Rex because.....it is talking to the velociraptors . ) The movie is so dumb ( sure, you can get 20+ year old gasoline to work. Why not? Minigun bullets do NOTHING to the I Rex!. ) Vincent Dinofrio wants to use dinosaurs to counter dinosaurs="stupid and dangerous" Grey wants to use dinosaurs to counter dinosaurs=" Lets do that immediately !!!!! " AND it works fine.
