Now it’s the media fault, the guy just qualified the most prestigious tournament in Africa as little and yet it’s not a big deal, he did not mean it, sarcasm, little joke. Well words count especially for others. It might be a little tournament for you but for us it’s big because our countries can come together and celebrate, it’s more than a sport, it’s family

@@yanntsala414 it’s called being ironic lol. Watch the interview and you’ll see the interviewer forgets about Afcon when he says there’s no international breaks until March which klopp responds with ‘ohh there’s a little tournament in in Africa’ which highlighted the journalists mistake that he forgot about a huge tournament in that period of the football calendar. Not hard to understand but people like yourself and the joke of a journalist in this videos press conference aren’t intelligent enough to get what irony is lol

They have totally forgotten what "racism" actually means. Take the term "white privilege" as just one example. Everyday racism...

I just can't help but feel, a professional reporter should already have the ability to pick up on such basic communication tactics as irony and sarcasm. I think it's his/her job to learn these things. I think it's critical for a non-English reporter to learn those English communication tactics if they wish to report on stories/interviews done in English accurately and fairly. I'm English and if I was reporting on comments made by a Chinese-speaking person, in Chinese, I would learn about common Chinese communication tactics BEFORE calling out the Chinese-speaking person for comments they make. To operate otherwise is unprofessional and reckless. But, at least he gave Mr. Klopp a chance to correct his misunderstanding. I've been a United supporter for almost 25 years, but I will say Mr. Klopp has always seemed to be a nice, fair, open gentleman of integrity.
@beepinger
@beepinger 2 жыл бұрын
I think irony and sarcasm exists in every language. I am not a native english speaker as well but I exactly understood what Klopp wanted to say. It is the media today. You have to be really stupid to not understand what he wanted to say, if you understand the english language, native or not. But the media is always interpreting some things into statements that aren't there... not only media, other people on social media as well. This is how society works today. If you don't like someone or someones statement, you twist and turn it until you have what you like and use it against him/her. It is very sad, but that's the time we live in now...

Mankind's biggest problem are ... we are splitted into so many languages. Klopp as a German translates sometimes one:one ... maybe the reporter reminds that Klopp said „I‘m the normal one“ ... correct would be „I‘m the ordinary one“. When he said 'little tournament', it is the one:one translation/paraphrase of a german ironical joke about the fact that we should never forget there is the important Africa Cup for a big part of the football world in January. Life teaches us daily: If you want to make trouble (like the journalist) - you can make trouble by criticizing every ironical sentence people ever said. So ridiculous!

He said, '...in January, there's a little tournament in Africa...' The reporter needs to chilax. No way Klopp meant any disrespect here. It's like saying to someone, 'Hey, I'd like you to do a little job for me', even though the job would be a huge task for the person.

Clip has got a lot attention. Not good, because it shows the reporter's lack of understanding of irony, and the English language. Both the reporter and Klopp speak English as a second language. Reporter should do some form of checking on his questions prior to asking them, or risk looking the fool. Klopp's point about the tournament is 100% valid though. Who has a tournament at that time of year.... They have to expect some crap to come their way for stupid scheduling.
