You can see when City or Spurs play how important it is for players to carry the ball to create space and break down teams. It's not only Timber, it's just not in Arteta's game plan. You can see that players are not instructed to carry the ball and just pass it. The lack of bravery in possession is really apparent this year

Risk taking passes from deep to get players in advance areas qualitive advantages to take on players is missing. And also those combinations in and around the final third(that we did so naturally last season) aren't happening as much as last season

partey just doesn't have the athleticism to be at a top level anymore, if he had to take responsibility for carrying the ball he wouldn't be able to make recovery runs in the way that, say, rice can. he was also never incredible at carrying like a smith Rowe or timber, he's better at line-breaking passes

The thing about using havertz to create space is that he is no longer considered a threat so he can just be ignored by the opposition I mean it’s not like he does anything actively with the ball, he just runs into space… opponents are like ‘yeah off ye go mate - enjoy watching the match from over there…’

Dominic perhaps the training regime is taking too much out of the players or perhaps Arsenal players are subject to more foul play than other teams. Arteta probably has an opinion and may be a journalist should ask him at the next Press Conference .

And that was why he sold Pepe. At first, he didn't think he would need someone of Pepe's profile, a ball carrier; he wanted every player to simply pass and hold their positions. Pepe is a dribbler who can open up spaces; the issue was that he doesn't pass when you would expect; he wanted to dribble his way out. Now that teams have formed a low block against Arsenal, it's a sign we need someone with that dribbling profile. Kudus and Diaby were options, but Arsenal didn't show a strong desire for them (see what those guys are doing in their respective clubs). dribbling is part of the action(dribbling more when engaged by defenders/markers), the purpose is to move with the ball from a deeper position to higher up the pitch creating space for others and allowing you to do a dangerous action.

Honestly forget about Timber. He's out rehabbing with a career ending injury. Don't think it is worth Arsenal risking him too quickly. This is a similar brutal injury Hector Bellerin suffered and has not been the same since. I would just let him rehab at 100%. Tomiyasu and Zinchenko should be enough at that LB role.

Honestly, I think Arsenal should play Ben White and Tomi at fullback and let Zinchenko come into the midfield to play with Rice and Odegaard. Zinchenkos role is the inverted fullback anyway, so he naturally tucks into the midfield with their attacking shape. Jorginho has been very poor and we don’t have anyone else on the bench that’s strong enough defensively to cover the role right now.

The injury situation is just stupid, and has been for years. ESR been out for months, back for a couple of weeks, now out again until the end of the year. Partey, been available for maybe 30% of games in the last year, out until the end of the year. Jesus started a handful of games in the last 12 months and it's unlikely we'll see him again this side of Christmas. Timbre 1/4 of 1 League game and out for the season. Saliba out last season, and that in my opinion, cost us the title. Saka has issues coming, but that's mainly because he gets fouled so much, but he's still got a period on the side-lines ahead of him soon. Odegard out. Martinelli looks like he's been rushed back. Is it training, the training surface, recovery, wrong gym work? I have no idea, but something's wrong.
