The jury has returned a verdict in favour of Johnny Depp in his $50-million defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
5:37 The jury ruled that Heard defamed Depp with malicious intent in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed claiming that she was a victim of domestic abuse.
Depp was awarded $15-million in total - $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
The jury also awarded Heard $2 million in compensatory damages, ruling that Depp’s lawyer Adam Waldman defamed her when he called her abuse claims “a hoax” in a British newspaper.
Depp, who is out touring, did not appear in the courtroom for the verdict. Heard, however, was in attendance.
43:23 Lawyers Ben Chew and Camille Vasquez celebrated the verdict outside court.

This is wonderful hopefully more men will now feel they can come forward who have suffered at the hands of an abuser. I'm a woman I'm 65. In my early twenties I suffered the hands of an extreme abuser and could not get help from anyone not even the police. Even at that time we were still fighting for equal pay for equal job. The reason I'm saying that is because I believe in equal rights for everyone not just females fighting to be seen as equals but men also.

That’s classic BPD. And it is true that she really was suffering at that moment. But that’s not JD’s fault, that’s her BPD, how she perceived the situation. But currently she does not have any self awareness at all that it’s her own doing. She blames it on other people. Of course, she will appeal. Sociopathic narcissists never stop lying &/or seeking to be the center of attention. She will attempt to drag JD into court again & again. If she can manage it, JD will never be free of her. In fact, he should make sure he is constantly protected by security. It wouldn't be unlikely that a person like AH may attempt to do him harm or have him harmed on her behalf. He should be very careful.

It's baffling to me that beauty, fame, and money are not enough for some people, they need more, to the point where they will even sabotage themselves and hinder their own progress. Life doesn't come with a manual and it's tricky for everyone. We're all going to experience loss, sadness, and difficulties. Why not try to make the best out of this journey and thrive for real happiness. I just don't get it.

@@islanderbyrd1881 I'm not sure I understand your comment. I mean, sure, people should generally try to love themselves as they are but plastic surgery isn't something done by bad people solely. Good for you if you manage to love yourself the way you are. That can only benefit you. With that said, I'm sure that nowadays, most people will go for filling over implants whenever possible. Sadly, he has already exhausted the appeal process in the UK. BUT, the UK authorities can investigate AH for committing perjury & she may not be allowed to enter the country any longer. Also, if I understand the news correctly, Australian authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged perjury incident involving sneaking their dogs into the country. Echoing Tolstoy, unhappy marriages so resemble each other and this one was no exception. There was jealousy, insecurity, mental and emotional cruelty, physical violence, hints of extramarital affairs, drug and alcohol fuelled fights, the same script with altering characters. The court proceedings have now ended while the jury begins its deliberations, a final verdict to be announced in a few short days. But this now seems almost perfunctory, besides the point. As Depp himself conceded at the beginning of the case: “I’ve lost everything. No matter the outcome of this trial, I’ve already lost,” but which can be extrapolated to so much else besides.
