you've done really well in analyzing TWS song!! Yes, it is about South and North but also about MBTI (S: Sensing and N: iNtuitive). Three members are S (Dohoon: ISTP, Youngjae: ISFJ, and Kyungmin: ISFP), while the remaining three are N (Shinyu: INFP, Hanjin and Jihoon: INFJ). There are a lot of parts in the choreography that refer to their MBTIs (I am just giving a little more information because I am excited). Anyway, it is about their friendship. Though opposites, they will be on each other's side while aiming for high goals. Thank you for reacting to TWS.

my theory in short is the Bunny is Hyeins true alien form (from the bunny shaped ufo).. hyein is her human disguise but for some reason only the boy can see her as no one else interacts with her entire video. Bunnys creepy look reminds me of Frank the Rabbit from the movie 'donnie darko' in that movie frank is a supernatural entity who only donnie can see.. much like only the boy can see hyein... the film is also about time travel and if you watch closely the dance scenes keep flipping from 80s to present day with the mics being switched for smartphones 10:21. The lyrics suggest a relationship being 'supernatural' possibly alluding to the boy and alien bunny hyein. Theres a scene if you pause quickly where hyein is seen looking 'ghostly' sitting to the left of the screen holding an alien 11:07. I'm glad you noticed the tower changing... its the same tower they are dancing in... im guessing alien bunny hyeins prescence there has maybe whats caused it to change and also given the girls powers which would explain dani. Minji, Haerin, Hanni, Dani and 'the guy' seem to be paranormal investigators of sorts as at the start they get out of a van laden with equipment on top and 'supernatural' written on it along with logo (like the ghostbusters ecto-1 car).. its likely they are investigating the supernatural goings on in the city with the strange weather, zebra unicorn and UFO activity... the coming next week preview shows minji and hanni somewhat arguing/debating and hanni says 'ill find out' .. i think meaning they need to get to the bottom of whats going on with the strange activity.... thats my short version theory. we will find out more later when part 2 is released...

Story: NewJeans are aliens. They are on earth and interact with humans. They have a hideout on the airport. They all have their own powers. For example Hanni can clone herself (we see three Hanni's in the beginning of part.2) and Danielle can create storms. Haerin can control electricity. Hyein have a crush on the human boy in part. 1. But we see that Minji take the boy away from Hyein. In part.2 we can see how Minji taking care of Hyein and warns her to be close (emotionally) to humans. In the beginning of part.2 we also see how Hanni telling Minji that she doesn't like to be on earth beacuse they are different. What if the humans figure it out. This MV and "How Sweet" MV tell us almost the same thing. NewJeans see themselves as outsiders in Kpop. In How Sweet they are "The ugly duckling". That's why we see them from animals POV. Just like the story of "Ugly duckling". In this MV they are aliens(outsiders). Ador(Mee Hee-jin) and NewJeans goes their own way when it comes to music and how they see themselves in the Kpop world. Mee Hee-jin(CEO) have said that NewJeans are not idols. She told the girls that they should use this time, under her, to learn a lot of things. So they can be prepared to do other things when their contract(7 years) ends. She told them that this is like a school for them and that they are classmates

Youre right its late 80s to early 90s New Jack Swing... choreo and clothing is very similar to bel biv devoe or new edition... song reminds me a lot of bobby brown 'every little step'

yeah thats the real reason... but it seems whoever produced this video used that to make her the main character and centre a lore based video around her being a bunny alien.. its genius
