Just a 50mm cube! The versatile low-cost TD-V26, FM radio, MP3 player, USB, TF & Bluetooth speaker

This is a review of the very compact (just 50mm cubed), but full-featured portable radio, MP3 player and Bluetooth speaker type TD-V26, that also has a TF Card & USB slots & both an auxiliary in and out sockets.
It has many unexpected features for very little money and has a great sound from such a tiny device. (This is just my personal opinion - I have no association with the manufacturer)

Absolutely a stunning little radio and player with so many features. I have two of them and only negatives are the flashing lights that cannot be turned off. Also once fully charged it only plays for just over an hour, so leave it charging or plug it into a powerbank if out and about. A must have and i bought mine from Temu and received it in just over a week in the post.

Hi, many thanks for sharing your views on this little device. I concur with your findings including the colour-changing LEDs in the base LOL. Excellent sound for such a tiny cube and having an aux. I/P for external devices has proved to be very useful. The only thing I found a little odd was the graphic printed on the top which they all seem to have

I always be amazed by those clever Chinese inexpensive radios. I got two of them with the same functionality and the latest is in a shape of a Volkswagen Beetle taxi, with blinking led lights of many colours effects that can be controlled and one even have a microphone so can answer the my phone if connected by Bluetooth. It has some sound effects too, when you turn it on/off (starting engine when powered on and alarm activation squeaking when it is turned off). The SD card mp3 reader is a very useful idea if you have your own collection of digital music. It makes good use of them. I like them very much.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch, it's a good question. When you switch on your V26 and plug-in either a USB memory stick or micro TF card, it should auto detect it and start playing. If for some reason it doesn't, just check the size of the USB memory you are using. Some of these low cost devices don't like memory sizes above 32Mb. I have tried both 16Mb & 32mB USB memory sticks in mine and it plays them with no issues. Other than that, try switching it off, plug-in your USB stick and then switch on. Again, it should auto detect the USB memory and start playing your music. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to turn the light off at bottom?

Hi, I don't think that you can - a quick look through the user guide does not refer to disabling the bottom LED lights. However, if you don't want them on at all then at a pinch, you could simply open it up & de-solder the wire to LED's (insulate it with some tape & then you could always re-solder in the future). It is a very good & useful little radio / MP3 player.

You cannot turn of the light. Unscrew the bottom and remove the connection. Battery on this radio is not really great.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. That’s a little odd, assuming that they have not changed anything design-wise since my review went out, then when you select Bluetooth, it should announce that it is in Bluetooth mode. Can you communicate with it via Bluetooth or does it not work in this mode?

Hi, many thanks for your feedback. I am always learning and will take on board your suggestion on future MP3/Radio reviews, (another coming soon BTW). I have to say this is very useful little device as the aux. I/P helps when I need a little amplifier, such as when I built a personal FM radio kit and needed to demonstrate the output, (it had a standard O/P for headphones). Sounds good as well.

I bought it on alliexpress and it doesn't have bluetooth at all even though it was clearly laid out in the nami and description. So angry and disappointed 😵‍💫

Hi, that sounds very frustrating. I don’t know of any variations on this design, so it should have Bluetooth built-in. I wonder if you have a faulty mode selection button maybe? It might be worth contacting the store you had it from as they could have received a faulty batch, but at least they should offer a refund or vouchers etc. if not, try contacting Ali Express and raise a dispute, they may send you a replacement, worth a try.

@@TheWobblyCameraGuy It must be an earlier version of it. It doesn't "announce" what mode it operates in contrary to yours. I actually bought it some time ago but used it only a few times connecting via the line-in port or using SD cards because I couldn't get it to work through bluetooth as you know. It lay some time in the drawer afterwards. I've recently decided to solve this mistery and came across your video. It's too late to open a dispute with the seller now 🤷‍♂️. Strangely enough it looks just like yours - the same model, the same markings - but it's always been deprived of bluetooth.

I don’t know of an earlier version of this particular device, but I guess it’s possible although they should not have advertised that particular feature if it didn’t have it. It sounds very frustrating for you. However, if you enjoy this particular radio/media player, why not purchase another? They are relatively low cost, although it pays to shop around on the Ali Express web site to find the best price as they can vary quite a bit. Thank you for sharing your experience even though it was frustrating for you 🙈. These are such a useful little player with a great sound for their size so probably worth purchasing another if you are able to.
