I too am in my seventies and I remember Hitler and Japan's inhumanity. And the hatred Americans held them in. Putin is of the same cloth. I also remember Italy's hatred for Americans because we were just as bad raping and pillaging Italy. Even today we arm Saudi Arabia in their war against Yemen. Inhumanity is nothing new, nor is it exclusive to anyone. Look at what's going on in S. America against the indigenous people. Putin riles me, but I still have periferel vision.

But you're right to point out the ongoing inhumanity of the turtle islanders. Spirit be with you. I'm of Irish descent and my fathers were not treated well and we're not considered western civ. But, we were white and used against the indigenous people. It's shameful to not see humans as humans. The POC were once looked at as fauna and game animals. The constitution forced on you claims all men are equal, but only white landowners were considered men back then. It's a new day and we should adjust our perceptions. During WWII the British let the Soviet Union borrow one of their battleships, the HMS Royal Sovereign. When they returned it to England it was in such bad shape that they scrapped it. The main turrets were rusted/frozen in place from never being moved, 15 inch shells were still in the gun breeches which is a BIG no no. The ship was rat infested and full of human feces. I've been on many IS Air Force planes, navy ships and even in nuclear power plants and they all have been clean enough to eat off of the floors. I've read a story about a guy who got a tour of a Russian nuclear icebreaker. He said the engine room was filthy and he was afraid for his own safety for the condition of the nuclear reactor.

Six people, with their hands tied at the back, were doused with petrol by the soldiers, and left in a locked room in a village. Then the soldiers moved away to start burning other houses first. Their purpose was to burn those people alive as the fire spread to that house. About 200 soldiers pounded that village with heavy artilleries before entering and started shooting. The local guerrilla forces received the information of the 6 people from the villagers. A small unit of guerrillas quietly slid into the village and freed the 6 men, just in time to save their lives. No! It’s not in Ukraine. It was in Burma (Myanmar). It occurred on the 4th of April in a village called “Mee Loun Kyun” (မီးလောင်ကျွန်းကျေးရွာ) in Yesagyo Township. The whole country is currently being torched by the ruthless fascist military regime. Later that day, the local People’s Defence Force (PDF) staged guerrilla warfare and managed to kill 15 soldiers including 2 officers (virtually with hunting rifles and home-made weapons). People of Burma understand and support the people of Ukraine. As Ukraine is being scorched, people of Burma know how terrible it is, to be in that horrible situation. They stand together in solidarity with the Ukrainians. May the President Zelenskyy and the heroic people of Ukraine defeat the invading Russian marauders!

As a U.S. military veteran, the scenes of Russian encampments are simply unimaginable. Not even forward operating bases would be permitted to begin to approach this level of squalor. This is but a glimpse into the lack of discipline and training of Russian forces. No matter how hardy one describes themselves, living in these conditions for more than a couple of days would devastate morale. We've heard report after report by captured and surrendered Russians of being misinformed, deceived and abused by their commanders. Perhaps most troubling is the willingness of Russian forces to direct fire onto non-military targets including hospitals and schools, apartment buildings and individual residences, clearly designated shelters, transportation hubs and evacuation routes. With a seeming total lack of any kind of military code, ethics and morals, it would seem that there is no low to which Russian forces won't stoop. Certainly Putin must be held to account, but so must his generals and all those in the chain of command who facilitated this wanton destruction and death. Russian state revenues must also pay to rebuild Ukraine. Perhaps Putin and his oligarch friends' frozen assets should never be returned; diverted to the reconstruction of the country they helped to destroy instead. Again, as a U.S. military veteran, we'd question and disobey orders that were clearly illegal. We'd also police ourselves; reporting anyone committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. We've all been led to believe that Russian forces are akin to our own: disciplined, well trained, professional. From the evidence of their actions, they're none of those things. They're more like packs of wild jackals, scrapping and fighting for survival, willing to debase themselves while committing unspeakable acts of savagery and debauchery on innocents. Disgusting. Shameful. Inexcusable. Unforgivable.

I'm not military, but grew up in a malicious narcissistic family. My take on this is that they are sending the cannon fodder in first until they take control of the villages, then they are pulled out and replaced by the hired terrorists who then go in to rape, interrogate, loot and execute. These aren't young conscripts who are doing the executions, they are hired people who do it for a living. Every narcissist in the world thinks alike, and they all have equal disdain for human life. The base of it all is that pootin hates the russian people because they were starting to become happy and prosperous, which is a bad thing as far as he is concerned.

To be fair, I think Putin felt that a Western-leaning Ukraine would inevitably be pulled completely out of the Russian orbit and fully into the orbit of NATO and the EU -- and this would be a permanent shift that would leave Russia and its allies forever the far weaker of the two power blocks. Seeing a window of opportunity to address this unpleasant situation, Putin acted with what he felt was sagacious foresight, patriotism, and a superior will by ordering his forces to move. Thus, it was more than mere vanity which prompted this fight.

"Just a mess" Russia is a medieval country : the army is like Ottoman Azzars - unpaid bandits who live off loot. Corruption means conscripts have no warm clothing, poor food, and often lack equipment. Russia is actually mentally disturbed : with a persecution complex, paranoia, delusions of grandeur, an amnesiac ability to reject Russian atrocities which are an exact repeat of previous Russian atrocities, and which are the inevitable consequence of an army which is based upon the brutalization of conscripts, lacking food, warm clothing and equipment, whose officer corp exhibits and encourages unrestrained depravity.
@rridderbusch5182 жыл бұрын

"Mentally disturbed" is putting it mildly. Problem is that any russian with sense and decency got out anytime in the past 30 years. In the 80's I met some very kind and hard working defectors, and a Polish man who had jumped ship. I can't help but think the people left in russia are the dregs of their society. Sadly, last year I bought a piece of metalwork jewelry from a young russian fellow (online) and had thought how times had changed. I hope he managed to leave before this. What a backwards society they are, and most of the russians don't realise how much pootin actually hates them. He couldn't bear to see them happy.

You do realise that if Putin wins, his intention is to subject every country where slavic languages are spoken to Russian rule? Bigger than the USSR, with even more resources. He would also undoubtedly run westward to get year-round access to the Atlantic for warships and submarines. Nato was created at a time when Americans still understood that their security depends on NORTH ATLANTIC security.
