As the organ was built in 1899 but has now been electrified throughout and all but been rebuilt, I suggest it is a relatively new organ made up of old pipes !! There is of course, nothing wrong with this as some of the old pipes (like we old people), have a wonderful timbre and a special sound quality of their own. By the way, nice bit of organ plying by you.

Yes, it was almost rebuilt in 1980. The details of the current and previous organ are on the link in the description. More stops added and I assume some (or most) of the original pipe work remains 👍

Good chorus work on this organ . However I detected unsteady winding on the Great, unless it was in the recording. Apart from the missing notes on the pedal, the bourdon is somewhat quiet, and the Trombone (unit 16 / 8 / 4 I think) is in need of some regulation. The original specification would have included a Pedal Open Diapason 16 on the pedal and perhaps an 8 foot extension which have obviously been removed to make room for the Reed unit. The Bourdon should have been either regulated to increase egress in the bottom octave or replaced with larger scaled pipework. The Great Mixture is in need of regulation.The Swell has obviously lost a Voix Celeste in favour of one of the mutations thus removing a tonal aspect of the instrument. The Great contains a Twelfth so I don’t see why a Nazard was put in the swell?? I would have kept the Voix Celeste. I would dare to respectfully suggest that the Organist in 1980 at the time of the rebuild must have had a preference for the Neo-Baroque organ and influenced the tonal revision along those lines, all of which would have added to the cost of the project, considering that the main function of the organ is to accompany the sung liturgy and hymn singing, before the performance of organ literature.

The thing to do if you have a Tierce 1 1/5 and a Twelfth 2 2/3 is to combine it with an 8ft Flute stop and you get the Sesquialtera effect, I really like that sound, when I get to play an organ that can produce that sound, that is what I do

You can also make a Cornet using 8, 4, 2 2/3, 2 and 1 3/5

I like Reeds I think they can sound like larger passenger planes engines. Maybe an old pipe organ reincarnated into a plane lol.

You said the pedal was pneumatic. My guess is that one of the tiny air pouches (not sure what you call them in English) needs shifting out. That is the weakness with pneumatic systems.

You probably mean the leather motors? I don’t think it’s a problem with the pneumatics as some of the pedals sound. I think it’s to do with the pipes themselves, particularly the reeds. I reckon they need attention. More than likely the tongue’s on the reed boots.

@@OrganicVisitations No. On pneumatic systems, the pouches operate individual pipes, or series of pipes. I played an organ once, and every single pipe had its own "pouch". The weakness in the system is that if the little pouch leaks, that pipe is quiet.

It coud be that the bleed holes need a little clean, that has worked in the past.

The acoustic is very dry for a church. Doesn't help the organ.

It’s a very old church - about 1000 years old - with internal archways, high ceilings and pillers. It ‘absorbs’ the sound unfortunately 👍
