Doing Strauss' distasteful debt collection missions are worth it for the final pay-off. Arthur obviously hated doing them as much as we did, so when he finally decides to help these people who are in desperate situations, it's a real turning point for him. It's obvious he enjoys helping people, even if he doesn't like to admit it. Even the bad things he does is to keep his extended family safe.

Two points: (no spoliers) First, I already mentioned how the debt collecting missions this chapter are named John and Arthur, but now I want to point out how J. John Weathers was a man who impregnated a love interest (probably unintentionally), just like John Marston. And just like John Marston, he wants to change his life for the benefit of his lady and child. Arthur Londonderry, like Arthur Morgan, was a dying man. There are more parallels between Londonderry and Morgan, but that comes up later. On that note, there are a lot of optional missions coming up in this chapter, and my advice is to say yes to all of them. There's also a mission (with [edit, my bad] Rains Fall) where a certain dialogue option reveals a bombshell about Arthur's past. If you choose the other dialogue option, you will miss this content. Keep an eye out for it! Loving this let's play so far, keep doing what you do!

By the way. The reason Arthur is so good now. So forgiving and full of remorse. Is because you made him so in your playthrough. If you chose to be evil and collect low honor throughout the chapters, he would be a real assh*** by now. But I like to think that him being good and remorseful by this point, is canon. I myself can't bring myself to go the low honor route. :P

Øyvind Jenssen Even if Arthur has low honour in this Chapter, he still often makes a conscious effort to do some good, and reform in at least some way, doing some honourable deeds. I think he can still do the debt missions and resolve them the right way, and I think you may be able to do the Downes mission too. Although I could be wrong about the Downes missions. But even at his worst, Arthur is utmost sympathetic towards the Natives for their situation, and even often gives away money he himself has. He gives some of it to Captain Monroe, to Tilly, and tries to get the people he cares about away from the hot zone to save them. Even at his worst, Arthur still has some redeeming qualities.

I was glad when the Strauss missions were over. I didn't like doing those. In the last mission with Miss Londenderry you could feel her anguish and that Arthur truly felt sorry for her. The animators and voice actors did an incredible job at putting depth into that part. I just can't say enough about the quality that was put into this entire game! I love watching you play this!

Dutch: "Only difference I can see is I choose whom I kill and rob and you destroy everything in your path." How ironic. Once again, Dutch can't accept the blame for what's happened. He blames Cornwall for Hosea's death when it was him robbing Cornwall's train that led to the mess they're in (which Hosea was against). It's not so much that Dutch wants to escape, but that he seems to want some kind of grand finale; a final "fuck you" to everyone hunting him down, based on what he has said... "I ain't made my final move..." "Maybe life isn't something to cling onto so tightly!" "You sure? Good, I prefer it this way..."

On my playthrough when Abigail told Arthur she didn't have to be careful because she had him as a friend it really hit me in the feels 😭😂. I loved that gang so much and would spend so much time at camp just chatting with everyone multiple times to hear all them different replies, played poker/dominoes with them, did chores, etc. When we got to chapter 6 it was so sad 😭 all the options for fun things in camp were basically gone even chores, and striking up conversations was even sadder since most of the guys seemed upset with Arthur and the ladies were scared saying things like "every morning I wish I weren't here" or "I feel like a prisoner here". I wish they could have stayed a happy little family but they were outlaws, mostly by necessity but still outlaws 😭 Some not so sad stuff though, my game had bugged for a bit around camp and I was able to antagonize Micah nonstop, I followed him around camp for like several minutes just antagonizing him 😂😂 Also I'm not sure if you ever came across this interaction but at one point you're able to play dominoes with Mary-Beth and she asks Arthur about the flower he keeps in a jar by his bed. He told her it reminds him of his mom so every time he sees one he makes sure to grab one. He really was wholesome

I would really recommend to stock up on miracle tonics and any tonics to help your health and make sure to go to the “Player” option on the pause menu to check on Arthur’s health constantly

Being emotional is proof of the value of your feelings, girl. Controlling them is something else. Crazy episode, indeed. Dutch's mind is really messed up since some time ago so you will see more details in this playthrough about where will this lead to. Honestly, Arthur did a real favor to Strauss telling him to get a job. After all those dishonest favors he asked, you realize where they led to. And Ms Downes got a happy ending with her son, they really deserved it. You can see Cornwall has a been a real abusive fellow in many aspects of life. Magnates like that, mostly, are that way, specially back in those times....and even certain ones nowadays, too. Kinda similar to Dutch at this point, but through different perspectives. Doing a job so far at this point, Lite. There's still more things to discover around secondary and main missions. So keep the good pace :)

I glitched out in that same place in the Edith Downes mission but mine was so bad I was stuck inside the wagon and had to reload! :o I literally teared up at the Londonderry/Strauss conclusion.

Oh and something else about Dutch inre John: When John said there was talk of hanging him Dutch replied "They was talking! And now they come and hang us all." He implies that they are all in more danger now than John was in prison which is absolutely hypocritical and batshit crazy.

This game can give you some real hatred for characters. When dutch asked "what happens when this brings the law down on us" after freeing John I literally shouted at my tv "what about when robbing a ferry in blackwater brings the law on us, what about when robbing a train brings the richest man in the country down on us, what about when trying to play two families gets one of us killed and a boy kidnapped, what about when robbing the biggest bank in the state brings the law down on us?! We deal with it!"

Yet another fantastic Let’s Play video as always 🤠 Your Let’s Plays are always an absolute joy to watch. Loved every second of this video, except for Micah opening his mouth. He can go to Hell 👿🔥 How has it not found him yet? Anyway, beautiful Let’s Play all-around, like always. I’m already looking forward to Tuesday and next Sunday. I always look forward to your Let’s Plays, but I’m especially excited for more Red Dead 🤠 I know there will be a lot of sad parts, and aspects that really hit home, especially in this chapter, but there is also a lot of beauty and love at the same time 😊😇 I absolutely love the music for the prison break. It sounds like a Western Infiltration, and it sounds terrific as one. I absolutely love how John is improving himself and his relationships with everyone. He went from a toolbag to a nicer guy and a guy who openly worries and gives more of a damn. Over the course of the game, I started liking him more and more. I’d absolutely love it if Arthur answered John’s question about the balloon, about the poor guy he and Sadie got killed. I love Arthur’s banter and sarcasm with John. John definitely inherited some of his sarcasm. Poor John got screwed, and Dutch has. But ooh, I wanted to punch Micah is his rat-face while seeing him glare at Arthur, John, Abigail, as if he were glaring at us. He didn’t even say anything, and he was still a shitstain. I absolutely love how being sick doesn’t stop Arthur from being any less of a badass, or intimidating. How he handled that prison break was so badass. Part intimidating and scary, part funny, and all Arthur. Arthur with his way with people, charmingly dry sense of humour, etc. But Arthur was just as menacing to that bastard of a foreman. Serves the bastard right. All sick, but still delivering just as much might as he was while he was buff and healthy. Two guys at once. Hell, when I questioned the Foreman about Arthur Londonderry, I beat him up again. Yeah, the whole situation with Arthur and the Downes family was sad. People say Downes shouldn’t have taken that money, but they don’t understand he and his family were in desperate financial situations. Compared to beating to collect the debt, borrowing that money was something Thomas Downes needed. Arthur and his gang needed money too, and Strauss made Thomas sound the type for Arthur to beat up. Not saying Arthur is innocent in how he chose the approach either, but it’s still unfortunate and sad for his own situation. Arthur made it right though, for helping Edith and Archie out of their poor spot, and uncomfortable position and exhaustion of what they tried to do to get by. Another redemption of Arthur Morgan, righting some wrongs he’s made, and helping the family he put in a bad spot. I love how Arthur’s final apology, and simple it was. Because Arthur had trouble expressing it before, and he really tried to say it. He really felt guilty, even before suffering from TB. All he had to say for the final apology was a simple one, simply saying that he was sorry for everything. But hearing Arthur saying he’s seen pride kill too many folk, it brings unfortunate flashbacks, and seeing losing his friends in the service of their gang. Hosea gave Milton one last defiant glare, looking him in the eye like a man is said to supposed to do. Roger Clark’s emotionally driven performance, the phenomenal motion capture, it really captured and embodied Arthur’s situation. Arthur truly feels guilty for everything, and he’s trying to make things right, to balance some wrongs, wrongs he’s personally dealt. Haha! Already among the best glitches I’ve seen, with the horses in Annesburg. Jesus, Dutch and Micah laughing together is truly unnerving. Truly a scaring hearing. Dutch has come truly undone. But yet another sad part is what Arthur said, questioning whether Dutch has changed, or just isn’t who they thought he was. Not gonna lie though, I loved the fashion he solved the thing with Cornwall, how he dealt with it, mad as it was. “Good, I prefer it this way.” But I swear, Micah calling Arthur “black lung” makes me wanna fill Micah’s lungs with lead. For all Dutch’s preaching of faith and loyalty, he’s losing a lot of both of that himself, unfortunately.

If you're looking to complete all of the Stranger Missions, there's one that's very easy to miss, and I think I did miss it on my first playthough. It's only available at night in the bayou, which is why a lot of people miss it. The bayou is a rather scary place, so most people avoid travelling in it at night. If you set a marker on the map just below the "B" in "Bluewater Marsh", you should see the Stranger Mission on your map. In order for this mission to appear, though, you need to have encountered The Night Folk at least once, which I think you have. It was a while back. I seem to remember you encountering a dead body hanging from a rope in the swamp, and then you were attacked. I think one of them one-hit killed you with a blade. Those were The Night Folk, possibly the creepiest gang in the game. There are a number of random encounters that can happen in the swamp at night.
