This movie really made me miss my grandmother. There's nothing like a grandmother's love. Once she is gone, it seems like the family structure changes. They have wisdom that can carry you for years.

So true there is nothing like a grandmother and her love. My grandmother has been gone since 1985 and I still think about her at some point in every day. My grandmothers name was Enola, she was 1st lady to my grandfather who was a Pastor. Some of my family calls me Enola Jr. because I am all about the family and making sure we stay close as a family. I wear the name proudly with honor 😇

Movies to enlighten our masses, wake us up and to educate us has fallen by the wayside. I recall, as a kid, when black folks were more loving towards each other and had a stronger spirituality base. IDK, granted there are more single parent households now, and the roles for parenting have increased in responsibility due to this. I believe that for our people to get a leg up on this, self-love and love for each other is a force now to contend with, but it can be done.

My prayers are to you and yours, may you have the strength to carry on, the previous memories to keep you in great spirits and the love he had to you and your family is forever imbedded in each of you. I'm living in the deep South and it's no other place I rather be. I've lived in the big cities and have traveled extensively. Every place has some issues but the people here in the south are genuine and thoughtful and kind. They don't mind assisting you in any way. flakisimo they do but you have to look harder for them and outside the USA. We are like white people- we like whatever sells, whatever is popular. We say we want more Black, diversity we call it, but check in with the behavior. Do we mean it? Is that evident in our everyday practices, in our creativity, in what we produce or manufacture or own? I'm going to say this, in the south 60s 70s 80s 90s when family values hadn't fallen away the generations did graduate and go to work asap, own a home by 30 and stay on the same job 10 to 30 years. Knew 40 was getting old and retirement is in your 50s. Enjoying leisure all your 60s and beyond with no stress... Now all my northern relatives thought we were slow down South, many may still think we too simple.

Why Brother Tyler Perry? What about Brother Spike Lee or Brother Ryan Coogler & few Others can't say Brother John Singleton because He's home with Our Ancestors. But aren't They're just as important as Brother Tyler Perry Himself?

I agree....no shooting, killing, (well they were still killing us back then too) in those days but, you know what I mean, no drugs, etc., just a movie about regular black folk living there lives on a daily basis as we do now eventhough now black movies now are portraying either there is no father present or moms is on drugs, children are hungry and stealing, etc. Which has become a reality. But not every black families reality this day and time, so its nice to see a black family being portrayed living a normal life.

If they made or even showed theses movies on regular television again... people would take more pride in their roots and violence could subside...A well written and acted story of togetherness. Maybe you can go home again...

I really enjoyed this picture. I also hope that many "city kids" will one day get the chance to experience family, culture and traditions "down south" as some say. This definitely should have been picked up as a weekly series. Hopefully, some aspiring film-maker will envision family life in the south.

This came out when I just started first grade! I was so scared to start school then. Now looking back, i would love to be back in 1976 during those better times, simpler times with the elders that are no longer around. I feel so sorry for these generations of today. They know nothing! Great wholesome movie! Thanks for posting great content as always!
