Victoria Wood used it to base her "Making of" episode of Acorn Antiques

In the early years, I remember when the show was listed in the Radio Times, rather than a summary of the storyline for each episode, they would reproduce a line from the script, so it was fun to work out which character it was, and in what context.

Julia Smith seems to have been one formidable lady. The way she was going round watching the scenes, I would not have been able to perform with her eyeing me like that lol

These television studios at BBC Elstree were known all over The United Kingdom in the 1980s, where EastEnders had become a National institution.

Hey absolutely great you have all these wonderful clips from the 80s. Do you have the set from the time when Kathy agrees to do all the knitting for Mehmet and it all went wrong? I believe it was early 1987

I remember Susan Tully reviewed the new releases for Smash Hits in 1985, one of which was Bucks Fizz’s single Magical, featuring new girl Shelley Preston. She basically slated it, ending by saying it’s important for them to get back in the charts again with their new member, but I think it’s awful, I don’t like them at all. Then about 7 years later on EastEnders, it was young Martin Fowler’s birthday, they were playing pass the parcel or something, and Bucks Fizz’s previous single You & Your Heart So Blue was playing in the background, presumably with the sole purpose of pissing Susan off by the crew for a jolly jape lol.

It was so much better in the beginning.. They ended up adding too many characters too many story lines that got so silly, two many couples trying to be Den and Angie
@fender10001005 жыл бұрын
I agree and you can never be Den and Angie. They were a one off.

I think it's always the way with long running soaps. They basically reinvent the same characters again and again and often reuse very similar storylines. Coronation street has been absolutely full of it since its very start back in the 1960s.

Jesus how depressing and negative is the narrator, TV was presented so differently back then
@Luluxxxx2 жыл бұрын
It really is an opposite style now, isn’t it. Hyperbole is annoyingly accepted; everything overhyped, dramatic. We’re meant to be wowed by everyone; everything is Amazing!! Smile!! We’re so happy 😀 Back then, people didn’t feel the need to persuade you. There was an acceptance that people had brains and could make up their own minds. They didn’t need to be led, and the presenter wasn’t expected to overshadow the guests.
