Be kind always, but don't expect anything. Always try your best to keep your feelings in check until you know for sure the feeling could be mutual. Not everyone is going to reciprocate your interests. That's life. Focus on you and someone will come along. No one really owes anyone anything. Maybe respect, but you can't expect fantasy to become reality. If it hurts too much, keep some distance. This happens to everyone. Again, focus on yourself and something will eventually come along. Usually the wait is worth the final product in the end. Remember, be kind.

If you get friendzoned it's usually the guy's fault. Men get friendzoned when they behave like a friend, how else should a woman register your behaviour? Present yourself as a romantic interest not as a friend. Anyone can be nice, that's why it doesn't work. When you want someone to see you as a romantic interest, you need to let them know that you are special by setting yourself apart from everyone else. If women had relationships with men just because they were nice then they would be dating every guy that walked down the street. Have some sense!

It's because you just wasted all of their time. Maybe if he was a player it wouldn't matter, but he clearly is not. Even if you are not trying to use them, if they are beta enough, they will do nice things for you just because they like you. Girls don't want a guy like that until they are ready to settle. The approach of these nice guys is not the best for actually attracting women, but you have to understand that acting that way is something that is taught by feminists, and they are going to be devastated when the one girl they like dismisses them. Anyway, "nice guys" actually are very pathetic, I know because I am one. Also there is no such thing as a nice guy because all men are sex and power hungry maniacs, and nice guys are just in denial.

uh, nobody's talking about the fact that the protagonist, in trying too hard to avoid the "nice guy" situation, has been sort of a jerk to the girl he likes, which also backfires? I think that message is just as important as the entitlement issue or whether nice guys do finish last. From my understanding, avoiding the "nice guy" situation really means stop giving the impression that your help and kindness comes cheap and is thus forgettable, but if you take it the wrong way and start acting like a horrible person, that's where things also go wrong.

I learned a long time ago that being a dick does actually work. In my experience women want their interactions to be memorable. Something they can talk about with other women and spend hours trying to see through it. Drama is very easy to raise emotion and make it memorable. Switch back and forth between nice and being a dick keeps them pulled in unfortunately.

Ana Clarke i agree. It sucks how people think that. But then again, can we really blame people? Getting a little philosophical here, but there's only two main theories of how personalities form. Maybe you've heard of "Nature Vs. Nurture". Both theories imply that it's not their fault they're like that. They're either like that because of their surrounding experiences and what they're taught (out of their control), or their personalities are carried since birth (again, out of their control). And, at least where I live, kids ARE taught being nice pays off. Luckily for me I stumbled upon the quote "Expecting the world to be kind to you because you're kind to the world is dumb. It's like expecting a lion not to eat you because you don't eat lion".

never feel like you're entitled to someone. that's a huge problem with this recent generation, especially with guys. everyone wants instant gratification, instant success, 100% acceptance rate. in a society where we can get hot fast food in 2 minutes, amazon packages in 2 days, and netflix streams at the tip of our fingers in 2 seconds, everyone thinks that they need things immediately RIGHT NOW. it's the same thing with college applications, course grades, job applications, social circles / popularity. people want prompt recognition that they're valuable, and they measure their self-worth with acceptance from others, including which girls they get to date. if one of your core values is to be nice to everyone, since it's the right thing to do, then you can't get angry when the girl you like rejects you, regardless of how much effort you've put into that friendship. nothing you do gives you the right to that person's decisions, and if you authentically like and care about them, then you should be able to respect their decision, whether or not they give you a justification for why they chose to reject you.

Jesus.... This was heavy as heck. I relate to always trying to be nice, but I've never expected anything from others from it. This video does bring on some good points. Just because a person is acting nice, doesn't mean it's genuine all the time. Also, no one is entitled to anything. So.. I like the message. Niceness isn't a sign of romantic intentions, it should be a sign of basic human decency
@AkiRa220845 жыл бұрын
Where in the video was implied that he expected anything from others from the niceness? He was even trying to not be nice to avoid that.
@ohfortheloveofguacamole68035 жыл бұрын
@@AkiRa22084 The main problem is that he expected "a chance" for being nice to the girl he liked. But the problem is that he waited so long to tell her he liked her. That's really the crux of the issue. For women, it's easy to put someone in "the friend zone" if they seem like they just want to be friends. Basically, giving us mixed signals like that can cause a lot of confusion (and really...she might have thought he was gay. o.o He pretended that he didn't notice any other girls at all...or rather, forgot who they were. Not only is that very odd, but she might have had that thought "huh...he doesn't notice girls at all...maybe he's into guys and in the closet?" That's an automatic friend zone right there.)

@@ohfortheloveofguacamole6803 What's wrong with expecting a chance? Sure, he did it the wrong way, I agree, but that has nothing to do with what Giovanni said. The guy was "genuine" nice from start to end. Also, off topic, but there is no such thing as "friend zone" for gorgeous men. Even if they seem "in the closet".
@ohfortheloveofguacamole68035 жыл бұрын
@@AkiRa22084 When someone has expectations, then they are doomed to disappointment. You should never have an expectation when it comes to another person's behavior. For one, you can only control yourself. For two, people never behave the way you expect. It's simply dooming yourself to failure. As for gorgeous men...there's a reason people say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Men you may consider "gorgeous" might not always be seen that way by other women. The same is likely true in reverse. The things that we find attractive are quite variable after all. My husband's originally from India and I consider him gorgeous. I assume other women do as well, given how many throw themselves at him. But there's likely women who would friend-zone him because they just prefer a different type of guy (blondes or redheads, maybe.) Goodness knows my husband is very picky about girls. That I happen to check all of his "this is a beautiful woman" boxes is happenstance. I would consider myself fairly plain, personally. I think a lot of women agree with that sentiment, because I have gotten many a side-eye over the years (the whole "how on earth did *that* girl get him? She's not even that pretty?!" type. lol) But to him, I'm what he likes. (Of course, after being married 11 years, there's also that familiarity factor and the love that goes into it...but still. I'm often surprised that my husband ever approached me.)

@@ohfortheloveofguacamole6803 Disappointment is a big part of life. If you don't have expectations of others and hopes you'll fall into pessimism and depression. People often behave the way I expect, since most of them are easy to read and aren't hiding much, but that's not relevant to this topic. The nice guy in the video may have doomed himself to failure, but it still has nothing to do with the Giovanni's initial claim that the guy was not genuine. Your personal life is only anecdotal evidence though. Science knows which mathematical ratios of the human face are considered globally beautiful. Google *Jeremy Meeks* for example and his life story. This is a fun conversation.

Many times, people will go for relationships, then back out (or "change their mind" after a one night stand) simply because of this. If people know you like them, they don't want a relationship, but if people think that you're not interested, sometimes, they want to go for it? he's the "Brother," but the girl doesn't not like him because of his persona, it's that he's nice.

Are people seriously like that? What's with this friendzone bs these days. It's your responsibility dude to combine your "niceness" with a charming character that makes the girl like you as a lover and not just as a friend. You got to be clear with your intentions from the beginning - anything else is shady. If you can't do it you simply are not decent enough to be her lover. Exactly the same goes for girls. If you a like a guy, be charming and nice to him and things will move on beyond him ignoring you. Implies that you guys actually already took care of your external beauty before trying to show your internal one.

Jay Jack Actually, it's not really surface personality that attracts people. It's physical, biological. It's called pheromones. Guys need adequate amounts of Testosterone as well. Girls need Estrogen. It's a hormonal thing that can literally distort an individual's perception of another. Personality adds to this but only if the "chemistry" is there.

Dude, exactly. Make your intentions known from the beginning. You can be friendly AND flirtatious at the same time. Being ONLY friendly and nice puts you into the friend zone to which you may never get out of, and at which point, the ball goes out of your court and is entirely in hers to make any move. Being friendly AND flirtatious leaves an opening to change the relationship into a more than friends, or to remain in the friend zone. Once in the friend zone, it's hard to get out.

Okay enough! Have any of you considered the possibility that maybe not every guy in the world is born knowing how to get a girl to like him? You can't control who you like, feelings like this are not something you can turn off or on, and since it is inevitable to like a girl at some point, what the hell is a guy to do with this feeling? He doesn't know what to do, or say, so he just does the only thing he knows how to do, being kind and nice, the only thing he can think of. Of course he is going to be pissed off, and of course he is going to feel taken for granted and used and incredibly desperate when it doesn't work. He is not a misogynist and he is not feeling entitled to a girl. HE JUST DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS SUPPOSED TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!. All he knows is that he has feelings for her and he is supposed to do something. He is just watching the girl he likes fly away from him, while he drowns being taken by a current of desperation . It's one of the most heartbreaking experiences that exist to realize you mean very little to the person who means the world to you, that she'll eventually find someone who will mean the world to her and you can't do anything but watch it happen with a fake smile, while you feel death inside and now we also villanize people who experienced that on top of everything else. Fuck you, fuck you for thinking guys should be charismatic and charming by default, fuck you for thinking we are somehow supposed to magically know what to do, fuck you for thinking nice guys are manipulative. Fuck you for feeling you deserve perfection, when you know you are not perfection yourself. Fuck you for thinking guys should be nice for the sake of being nice, when clearly they are just human beings, with faults and live events that drove them to not be as nice as you would like. when clearly Fuck you all. You Fuckers. She is not to blame, for this, but he is certainly not to be blamed either and shouldn't be judged for thinking niceness might work. Is he suddenly not so nice when she doesn't return his feelings, why not, why would he possibly wait around for her to find someone and feel pain? Is avoiding that heart breaking pain something you find hypocritical, so be it. Guys were not put in this world to serve you. Are these guys in need of learning a lot of things and experiencing personal growth? Yes, but don't you dare villanize someone for something like this, especially when you don't know the pain they feel.

It's just a jerk move, as if company and friendship was not enough. It's sad from our perspective because we care about our "friend" only to find out it was just a phasade. They might say let's stay friends but they will have you in the back of their mind as a possibility. Also don't tune out the girl if she's explaining why not, important details you might miss.... She might not want a relationship because she's not confident or doesn't feel ready to give. If you're a jerk in return, kills any chance you had plus shows lack of confidence too.

from the guys POV... he is chasing the girl and seeing her as a potential partner... it is natural to be niceR to the girl that he likes... theres nothing ''fake'' about it... besides girls like it when they get attention and special treatment... i mean who doesn't? however, in this case... it is the guys fault for asking why wasnt he given a chance because even though it is a question... the question sounds like a demand... and hence leading to the girl feeling obligated to reciprocate when in fact, she doesnt need to... in another scenario, if the girl complains and judges the guy for not being as nice to her as before she rejected him, and even judges him for being ''fake'', then it would be the girls fault
@flyingsnake37377 жыл бұрын
But i think women take advantage of that at the same time. People could be nice to one another but when you see someone going the extra mile you do have to think that this person is doing it because they deeply care about you and would like to be more than friends with you. I saw some women take this and use men to later discard them when they find something "better". Thats quite evil in my view. I know she doesnt owe the guy anything but as an adult you should know what your attitude is conveying to a man when you ask for favors or for them to go out of their way to serve you.
@lillianabright036 жыл бұрын
All hail to Medusa no.... it’s called being a friend. Just because u ask a guy for favour or to hang out or some guy is extra nice, it doesn’t mean they owe them anything just because they’re like that. Your last line is very hypocritical saying (from what I can see) “sure she doesn’t owe him anything, but she owes him love because he was kind to her.” People can be kind without any ulterior motives, and it’s disgusting to assume just because they don’t return your feelings they are “evil” for choosing someone else. And it’s sad to assume all people are kind because they like you, why can’t they be kind because they want to be kind? All in all, your comment is reflecting exactly what the “nice guy” is trying to get across in the video, just because you treat someone kindly it doesn’t mean they *have* to be in a relationship with you. And it’s not just men btw, this is for women as well.
@lilcat2966 жыл бұрын
Just a note - "girls like it when they get attention and special treatment" - don't do that. Treat a girl like your equal, not like she's some unicorn princess who needs special treatment above everyone else. I've had the "special treatment" done to me before and trust me, it does not help with your chances of getting a girl. If you wouldn't do it for another guy or a girl you aren't attracted to, you ~probably~ shouldn't do it for a girl you're attracted to.

He should have just asked the girl out before he went through all the trouble of trying to be her bff. I mean that's probably what made her put him in the friend zone, he was acting like her best friend.
@annikaohnenachname98956 жыл бұрын
True. I was interested in a guy once and then we became friends and now I know all of his dating-stories, his problems with his parents etc. I guess I know too much about him. He's a hateful person. If we just dated, I could have maybe ignored that. But now that I know it I can't just forget it.
@infinitelightnin64246 жыл бұрын
@@annikaohnenachname9895 Then you should probably not date anyone to be honest. Isn't loving someone about accepting they have problems and YOU have them too. Working them out is the challenging part, which people don't want to put work into. You say you want to ignore his issues but I'd personally try to find out what makes a person tick rather than avoid it and see if I can love them with their faults rather than see them as this perfect being.
@annikaohnenachname98956 жыл бұрын
@@infinitelightnin6424 It's not about having problems. It's about how you deal with them. My parents used to hit me as a child. But I forgave them and have a very good relationship with them now. He talks bad about them just because they work too much in his opinion. He talks nad about friends because they ask him how he is. Because he thinks it's not genuine when someone asks. And believe me. I tried to convince him about a thousand times in a polite way. That just makss him angrier. That just makes me loose all my interest. The last guy I dated was a refugee from Syria. I'm not saying that everything was perfect, otherwhise we wouldn't have broken up. But he had so many problems and he still tried to fight them and live a good live, didn't give up. And that's so important. I used to have sociophobia and ptsd, but I solved everything on my own, becauae I never gave up. I am a very positive person now and I think I'm even becoming an extrovert. And forgiving was always key. I am not even Christian, but I know how important it is to forgive those, who harmed you. Because that means peace for yourself. No one cares if you're still angry with them. Only you care. You're the person who feels bad about being angry. And I don't think I would've gotten over my trauma and my sociophobia, if I didn't forgive everyone. But some people will never understand that. Those people are not for me.
@annikaohnenachname98956 жыл бұрын
@@infinitelightnin6424 Oh and in general I think we all have our priorities. No one's perfect but there are things that we could accept and things we won't accept. I'm not gonna accept people who are hateful for apparently no reason and who won't overthink that. That's a very bad sign. And btw the 'problems' of my ex boyfriends haven't been the reason why I broke up. With the first one it just wasn't real love and the second one started treating me like trash after a few months, which is not only his fault, because I let him, wasn't brave enough to leave for six months and only cried. He's not a bad person in general I guess he just didn't have the courage to say "I don't love you anymore and wanna break up", so made me break up. But that has nothing to do with his problems. You can't force someone to love you. I always helped him with all of his problems. But if someone stops loving me, I can't do anything about it. I just wished he would've said something.

What I don't get is that he wasn't nice to people just because he was interested them as he said he was at the end. In the university scene it's established he likes being nice to everyone. Then he was actively trying not be nice to this girl, such as refusing to help her, in order to get her to like him. So the idea that he was nice to her just so she would date him doesn't seem to make sense, since he was less nice than he usually is in an attempt to get her to like him. The end scene communicated that this guy believed he was owed a relationship with this specific girl because he was extra nice to her, which wasn't what had been previously established; up until that scene the video had established that he felt because he was a generally nice guy he deserved to have a romantic relationship. I hope the next video brings clarity to his true outlook, because how your address each is different.

Doing too much though thing is its better to be kind than nice. Also he was not being himself that's why he couldn't keep that up anyways. She probably seen that too because her expressions changed when he no longer helped her out like he used to he was appearing to lose his better qualities and made it looks questionable if he really ever had them to begin with. Her trust broke heavily early on the moment he told her the thing he had to admit he'd been holding on his chest for so long, but not only did it make him look deceptive for him to do that, but it also weighed heavily on him. Was that what it took for him to finally come clean and own up to his feelings. "Oh" of coarse oh. Oh new info. Oh if he didn't feel that to be priority to tell her first everything came after even though he said that's what he felt first. Its like why didn't he tell her then and yet, instead he rather beat around the bush and do other things. She also didn't need residual animosity.

Nope. Rejection is embarrassing and lowers your self esteem but you learn to get over it and essentially build confidence back up again to ask out someone else who’s interested in you also. Breakups make your whole body ache to where people actually kill themselves because they mentally can’t handle how heart breaking it is losing someone you’ve come to love and connect with so much and they just leave

I sorta take back what I said. Often a lamer dude like myself will get to know a woman really well before getting to ask her out, and she will be nice to them because a lot of girls are just really nice which just makes it way worse when they reject you. Its not a good feeling when you know someone really well, and they decide they would never want to be with you in the first place. I think I would rather they go out with me for at least a while before breaking up with me. Of course getting rejected by some girl you don't know well doesn't feel like anything though.

Exactly! A woman wants to find a nice guy but also someone she finds attractive and compatible with her personality. Why is that so hard for guys to understand? I think men like to lie to themselves to spare their own feelings of rejection. That way it's not them, the girl just can't appreciate a "nice guy" 🙄
@maximo_lopez7 жыл бұрын
+ Sophia I think it's a matter on which type of guy you're talking about, if it's a guy who might feel depressed or lonely over not being able to connect with someone, or the cliche 'nice guy' who thinks that simply being 'nice' to a woman entitles him to being with her. Unfortunately, the two sometimes get conflated with one another. The latter is seldom going to look past his own entitlement.
