Not only are the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame disrespecting metal but they’re also adding a lot of rappers and pop stars in it. It’s ridiculous. I hope BABYMETAL is added to the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame one day. I’m sure that might make a lot of people angry. lol

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃♀️👹 So this cute song is about playing a game that is kind of like hide-and-go-seek, with some tag and blind-man's bluff mixed in. Pursued by an "Oni"" which is a kind of Japanese Ogre. If not a real monster, than at least someone pretending to be one in order to terrify children into behaving. Fun times! Kawaii Metal! : ) If much of their charm is in the blending of the cute and the brutal, this song is a great example. While 'Megitsune' is still my favorite, this has one of the cutest choreographies. They performed this song quite a bit in 2017, but not since. The last time I saw this one was in Chula Vista, California when they were on tour opening for Korn.

Great reaction. I have absolutely no doubt many people have done themselves an injury trying to sing and dance along with this song ... most of us are totally unable to keep up with shouting "Maada da yo" while trying to do the 'running away from an Oni' dance. This is a great song - and as has been said already I'm sure, it is about playing a game like tag or hide & seek with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre). The growling vocals (on the backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) has to be the best response.

Good to see you're back Bobby! Sadlly you fall onto a live compilation, this is my fault, sorry! I should have recommend you the right one: live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles, you don't have copyright problems with that, but anyway i understand you have no choice due to not having any recommendations about this. _Catch Me If You Can_ is one of the most representative song of kawaii-metal genre they created, super fun, creepy and heavy. I mean, little girls playing hide & seek with an Oni (japanese human flesh eater ogre demon) must be a little bit creepy, right? they can't fail on this one, is a blast combination. Especially if you want to mosh'sh, this is your song to have fun. Also with Kami Band intro in this song during certain live concerts, is certainly not to miss it, they slash every song they play. Yes, it's Mikio-sama playing there, but if you look closer you'll see is not well sync vid with instruments execution :/ They come from j-pop scene not k-pop. J-pop = japanese, K-pop = Korean, they're not the same. Hope you have nice weekend mah man. You said it right. You mentioned that a US version of BM might be basically "bubblegum pop". Well of course BM have a song in that style too. So take a look at "Awadama Fever" and you'll hear some ironic "bubblegum metal". BM was created by an Amuse producer Kei Kobayashi within an idol group called "Sakura Gakuin" who sing school themed j-pop, but have some very interesting songs. One of my favorites includes rap of classical Japanese poems Hyakunin Isshu. This video is a compilation of various performances and it says something about BM's precision (and click track) that it's possible to put these videos together and have them marry up so well with the audio. "Catch me if you can" must be the heaviest song ever about a playground game. Japanese kids play a game of tag where the taggers are ogres called Oni. I suppose when you are being chased by club wielding ogres things get dark and heavy and BM mime running from the ogres. These Oni also appear in some festivals where men dress as the ogres and go round homes and must be fed to ensure a good year and to make them go away. They also threaten the children that if they aren't good they'll be back. There is also a mention of "not going out in red shoes" which is a reference to a children's poem about a young girl that is taken from her parents by foreigners. Babymetal are about fun and cuteness, but in most songs there is some darkness just below the surface.

I had some difficulty to figure out which guitarist is which at first, so just to share my cheat sheet: Mikkio is obvious, you already know who he is because he's so unique. The guy playing the second solo is Takayoshi Ohmura, Mikkio's student and protégé, and he's usually with a sparkly pink guitar, does the craziest facial expressions with his tongue out and seems more hype. The third one that you find playing the guitar duets with Ohmura in Akatsuki is Leda Cygnus, and he uses either a navy blue ESP or a headless ESP. In Legend 1997 it's Mikkio + Leda. In 2014 Budokan it's Ohmura + Leda. In 2016 Tokyo Dome it's Ohmura + Mikkio in the Red Night and Ohmura + Leda in the Black Night. Once you react to more songs, you'll get to know the footage of each of those main shows. The only big show I remember that you'll eventually watch that has a different lineuo is Download 2018, with Ohmura + ISAO.

Some people get overly bothered by compilation videos. yeah, they aren't ideal but sometimes its all you can do. There are a couple of them floating around that are god awful but most are not that bad. Of course the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel is the best source for non-compilation videos but I'm just saying that it's not the end of the world when you do watch a comp version. I agree with what you said about how this could never happen here in the USA. I would add that we could never develop young talent like this because we would always feel "uncomfortable" watching them when they are little.
@Grington3003 жыл бұрын
The "uncomfortable" feeling would be because everything involving girls (young or otherwise) in the USA (and to a lesser degree in the UK and Europe as well) somehow becomes sexualised. BABYMETAL has never had that, so no - what they are and what they've done would have never happened in the US.

Hi Bobby just before I watch your video, Babymetal just dropped an Ijime Dame Zettai Live video in their channel like three hours ago, they had been like one year without publishing anything since the BxMxC music video. We still don't know if they are blocking this one, is from their past april concert. Still, if you do that song I think you will appreciate better the Sonisphere 2014 performance of this song, that shows a lot more the musicians. Maybe a reaction video comparing both?

Unfortunately, the musicians of this band are being hidden more and more. For 3 years, they have been wearing masks that do not show who they are, and in the last show that you comment, they have them stuck in a pit totally separated from each other. They focus attention on girls only. It seems that they don´t even do those incredible solos.

Great reaction mate! Yes, Kitsune (Kit-su-nay = fox) Up! "Catch me if you can" is a song about playing hide & seek with an orge (monster). Those background "growls" are from the orge. You can also tell from Yui & Moametal dancing. 9:37 Moametal's famous sliding/hiding underneath Su's legs and those "running" dance moves. Too bad, since Yuimetal left, I think they don't perform this song anymore. Probably, because Su & Moa has grown up (adult) now, this song is no longer suitable anymore.

Loving your reactions, dude. I went through your videos and wrote down the songs you have listened to so far: _Road of Resistance , Pa Pa Ya, Babymetal Death, Headbanger, Gimme Chocolate, Rondo of Nightmare, Akatsuki, Akatsuki Unfinished, No Rain No Rainbow,_ and now _Catch Me If You Can._ Could it be that you have missed _Megitsune,_ or has it perhaps been taken down? If you haven't heard to that one yet, it would be the most obvious omission by far. It's perhaps Babymetal's most quintessential song, and also one of the few occasions where it might be worth taking a look at the official music video. I don't think I've heard many people complaining about that one being blocked. As you have listened to three out of the four classic Su solos, perhaps finish them off by giving _Amore_ a try as well? It's just as good as the other ones. And don't worry, we are all crying as well. And considering that you have managed most of Su's solos, I am surprised that you haven't tried out Black Babymetal yet. That's what we call Moa and Yui when they perform without Su. _Sis Anger_ is a nice and heavy one for you. Then there's the observation that you've only done one single song from the third album so far _(Pa Pa Ya)._ Perhaps give _BxMxC_ a try, as this is both a popular song, and a very odd one. You will get to hear Su rapping. And it's not at all as embarrassing as you might think. She totally hits it out of the park, as always. And if _BxMxC_ isn't odd enough for you, let's see if you can handle Babymetal at their most progressive, with _Tales of the Destinies._ I love it, but it is perhaps considered an acquired taste?

From the Babymetal Reactor Resource kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2WTh6CKfbibasU Going forward, if reactors want to keep reacting to the videos, I've come up with a solution that will make it possible to continue using the videos with logos that have already been tested against blocks. I've made a spreadsheet - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZYdthVAHYaOAYL6AuhVOHotQinMoPPFEuspqDMIIGD4/edit#gid=0 with links to both the logo videos and the non logo videos and are hosing them on a Russian social media site that won't remove them, and is out of the reach of the copyright trolls. There are a bit over 30 videos on there now, but I'll keep uploading more every day until they're all back up. I'll also be adding new videos that I'll test on an alt KZbin account before adding to the spreadsheet. If you can't access the spreadsheet for whatever reason, here are direct links to both the non logo videos and the videos with logos: No logos - ok.ru/video/c6630874 With logos - ok.ru/video/c7184602 For reactors that want to put your own logo over the videos, here is a link to the logos I use that are already made transparent - drive.google.com/file/d/1JUVfJGp36xR2n1FHl7PzRIxXhA5P4VyW/viewor you can use whatever logo you'd like. You can download the videos, which I recommend since the site can be a bit laggy sometimes, from this free website - sovid.net/ I recommend using the "HD" option when downloading to keep the file size reasonably small. Although there are other videos on my channel there, only use the ones on the spreadsheet because some of the other non logo videos aren't KZbin safe. Kitsunes UP!

That's why many japanese gadgets, electronics, and toys are in such high regard. But Japan isn't perfect either. You know, when Babymetal was starting out they weren't fully supported by the guys in suits over in Japan. They girls had to provide their own costumes for the first two years, which they borrowed from friends and staff, and they didn't have a live band. As late as 2015, Babymetal was invited to receive an award from Metal Hammer magazine, and the suits would pay for the girls to travel to England to receive it, but not the band, so Dragonforce stepped up and backked them up in a performance. But they persevered, and look at them now. You mentioned bubble gum pop. They were crtisized a lot in the early days for being bubble gum metal. So they responded with a song about bubble gum, and turned the cuteness and brutality up to 11, Sort of a take that haters. Check out Awadama Fever kzbin.info/www/bejne/a57FqWWKiaaLZpY

Did Moa just plow Su over and Su was ok that's it. let's try something else. Compilation videos can be confusing for some folks. But you knew that's what you were going to watch so you didn't get lost in it. Kudos. The Jpop world for the most part do just have girls dancing and singing to commercial music. Babymetal was a risk that even in Japan they didn't want to take. Thanks to Koba (the producer) for taking the chance we have Babymetal. Someday in the future someone is gonna put a movie together about how Babymetal came to be. And no one is gonna believe it. But you know what they say the truth can be stranger than fiction. Compilations aren't necessarily bad so long as you let reactors know ahead of time so they don't get confused. Honestly most don't notice but adding "compilation" to the title would help so much. Because Babymetal performs to click tracks this makes it easier to edit, but even then getting the syncing right is still tricky let alone getting the right mix of shots to avoid blocks. There are several good channels out there with compilations, this one being one of them (though he has a few songs using the studio audio which I'm not a fan of). Each channel has certain edits I like over the other, just comes down to preference. When done well, you'll get the best combination (shots, angles, close-ups, audio, etc) of performances. Plus I think it's fun for reactors to see all the cool different venues. I just don't like when they mix indoor and outdoor shots though. That said, it's best eventually to use the Babymetal Reactor Resource, especially for the newer songs. You'll get to see great stuff that you can't get on KZbin. And anyway sooner or later you'll need to use semi-transparent watermarks to avoid blocks (your Road of Resistance reaction for example). If you do it right, you'll have just enough of the watermark to avoid block while leaving good amount of video to see what's going on. Opacity of 50% is recommended and increasing more if needed. There's still a safe videos to react to on KZbin but I suggest giving the BRR a try. If you need help or have questions just let me know!

😄 When I was editing this reaction I was wondering how many comments I’d get about that. That particular “friend” has a skin condition that flares up every summer. We’re treating it with medicated shampoo and topical antibiotics but she still gets flare ups at times. Even during my recordings.

@@JustAnotherReactor My folks had a dog with a similar condition. I have cats, but same as with dogs, there’s a commitment involved. 👍

SOMETIMES YOUR FANS BY CHANCE DON'T RECOMMEND A SONG JUST BECAUSE THEY THINK EVERYONE ELSE HAS ALREADY RECOMMENDED IT HA HA. I WANT TO REMIND THE DEATH CORE FANS THAT BABYMETAL GIVES POP AND RAP FANS A WAY INTO METAL. I ASK YOU IS THAT NOT A NOBLE AMBITION? GIVING GORGEOUS WOMEN A WAY TO DEVELOPE THE MUSIC LISTENING SKILLS AND SHOW THEM THAT THERE ARE REAL MUSICIANS. MY HUMBLE OPINION, THE MORE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN AT CONCERTS THE BETTER.

Hey Bobby! let me make a suggestion. There's a group from Tucson called HER NAME ECHOES that you might know. I have discovered them recently and I find them very interesting. It has a Linkin Park vibe. Maybe someday you could do a reaction to get out of the Japanese rabbit hole a bit ... Greetings. This they has been released today: Her Name Echoes - Draw The Line (Official Lyric Video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmm8aalphrh-j9E

"Catch Me If You Can" was what BM shouted to me during the Wembley 2016 show. I found Su hiding behind the drums, Yui hiding behind Su & Moa making a snack backstage. Turns out they meant they wanted to go & see the Leonardo Dicaprio film, not play hide & seek.😆

Previously, it was mentioned on the Internet that if BabyMetal goes to China to perform, at least two songs will be banned, one is ONEDARI DAISAKUSEN and the other is SIS ANGER. I am really happy that BabyMetal was born in Japan.

Interesting, I've never heard this. Why those two songs in particular? Both are Black Babymetal songs, too.
@BlackArr0w3 жыл бұрын
@@sleepingfordays I'm guessing for the possible misinterpretetion of wanting to marry your dad in OD and for the fact of wanting to vent out your anger in Sis Anger? But it's the first time for me hearing about this :D
@moonfloweryellow31303 жыл бұрын
@@sleepingfordays I guess the problem with the lyrics of SIS ANGER is - ばかやろー! In Japan, girls don't usually say this. When translated into English, you can't see the problem with the lyrics.

At first I didn't like this song much. Because I felt that the song, the lyrics and the dancing made it too obvious what they were trying to do, and that it was too much. But as cuttysark mentioned, they don't just combine cute and metal, they understand a certain darkness and fear of Japanese nursery rhymes and express it in metal. After I understood that, I changed my view on this song. Thank you from Japan.
