Thanks to all of you. The “Just Another Reactor” name came to me when I was trying to think of a catchy name for my channel and in my mind I was thinking “I want to think of a good name so that people won’t think that I’m just another reactor on KZbin”. When I thought that I just thought it was kinda funny so I stuck with that. 🙂

Thank you for this reaction. You’re the only reactor I’ve seen that mentioned about Neil’s kit. I’ve always commented that it’s amazing how Yoyoka covered and do the song justice while having a limited gear not like Neil had. It would’ve not been easy esp. playing it by ear like she always does. I would also say that on most of her covers, she always put a little of her own style. It’s subtle and if you’re not familiar with the song or a drummer, you won’t notice it, but the song somehow seemed to sound ‘fuller’. For me, she enhances it and that way, it elevates the song. She makes the song much better than the original i.e. Steam but never deviates from the original sound. Again, thank you. Looking forward to more of your Yoyoka reactions. ✌🏼

Thanks for your reaction to her cover; it adds more drum music knowledge for me. I am getting a mosaic of drum music knowledge from a number of drummer reactions to her covers, and of course watching her cover songs I get a more deeper appreciation of drumming in many of classic rock songs she covers. So when I go back to the original I too can pick out the little intricacies of the song, not just drumming, but of all the instruments. Plus she’s a joy to watch as she grows and develops. I play rhythm guitar well and sometimes have difficulty picking up on the lead guitar stuff. But following her, and other reactors of her I am improving my music ear little by little.

Great job sir! Thank you and thank you Byron! The KANEAIYOYOKA video you are referring to is called "Happy" YOYOKA wrote the Lyrcis to that song. KANEAIYOYOKA is the name of her family band which she became a full fledged member of at Age 5-6. Previously the band name was KANEAI. This song is very popular among YOYOKA fans and is frequently requested or played when they do live performances. A VERY FUN SONG!

Thanks Bobby!. I listen to learn and watch new reactions to my favorite musician (yes, she can play multiple instruments such as in her covers of "Come Together" and "Here, There and Everywhere". She is getting more and more proficient on the other instruments and has a good voice with an adorable accent). Yoyoka is often adding her flourishes to the songs she covers (Burn is one example exception). From what we know, Yoyoka learns songs note for note and then will add a gentle touch of her own. It has been called the "Yoyoka Effect" by her fans. An example is in her cover of "'Virtual Insanity"s by Jamiroquai. She added in the Purdie shuffle to the song. It fit perfectly. I am really looking forward to your next Yoyoka reaction. An early example of her playing multiple instruments has her playing both keyboards and drums in the same song. It is live on stage. She was 6 years old - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWa9m4OKo9aHba8. She was using ghost notes at that time. Her mother Rie is singing. Such a nice voice. Afikumi, her dad, is likely on bass. Might be fun just to watch just for enjoyment. (Rie has quite a range of vocals. She really shows her rocker side on the Rage Against the Machine cover of "Killing in the Name" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2zlKqbhsR1nZY. Live on stage cover of "Bulls on Parade" is also cool - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6PMeod-fp5oZq8 ). Oh. And I did not mean to imply that drummers are not musicians. :)

The gap between audio and video was likely caused by your Bluetooth connection. Yoyoka is a gem and a blessing. The great thing about the internet is not that we get exposed to all these prodigies. We know they exist in the world and there are many more out there. The amazing thing about KZbin is that we get to see these prodigies grow up. We see their raw talent grow and become something amazing. I compare this to seeing John Bonham perform Moby Dick at Royal Albert Hall in 1970. The world was not ready for John Bonham, but he conquered the planet anyways.

Her process is to learn the song as originally played, then add what her fans call "The YOYOKA Effect". Everything she does is intentional. Generally, this makes the song sound better than the original. She has been advising local Japanese bands since she was 6 y.o. how to play songs better....and they take her advice and agree after trying it.

@rolandkarlsson7072 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah - she has a very cute drum course. She starts with an encouraging YEAAAH! Drum course nummer 12. Then you get her wisdom. And it is serious stuff. You can e.g. learn how she do swivel kick, which is a bit different than normal. Lastly she says. That was the end of drum course number 12. Bye! You can also learn how to best make triplets or dance beat or hard beat. And also how to record covers. Or how to tune the snare. You have to understand that this little genius do all herself. Everyone assumes it is her parents that do the filming and setting up everything. It is not. The parents even do not choose songs. She search and find the songs she like. At the age of 7-8 or so. And then arrange them. And learn them. And record them. And upload them.
@Glen.Black.
@Glen.Black. 2 жыл бұрын
@@rolandkarlsson7072 Yes, thank you. She is so funny in her drum courses. In one she says "Now pay attention!" and in another, very seriously, "Dad, point the camera over here." If you mess up, she gives you "The Look" to let you know she caught your mistake. She only needs 2-3 listens for most songs before she can play them. I've witnessed her set ups in person. At the Spring Japanese Festival in Las Vegas in April , the Pearl Rep showed up at the festival and offered to set the drums up, but her and her father wanted to do it themselves. I went to the Silk Sonic concert with her on the 25th of March in Las Vegas. Very fun to watch her watching them. Because I was with her, I got to go backstage with her and her father and meet Anderson.Paak. Very cool guy. When they recorded Led Zep's "The Ocean", the others were already there when she and Ellen arrived. The kit was already set up (not her kit). She sits down, adjusts the throne and the kit pieces, banged out a few notes, tweaked the tuning a bit and then announced she was ready. Only took a few minutes. Awesome talent and all around wonderful little lady.

One thing you will learn about Yoyoka is that she listens to what she records. She does not put out videos which are lacking or where she did the best she could. You will not find another drummer in her age group who puts so much of theirself into drumming as she does. Her only weakness is she still cannot drum off of sheet music. She can read it, but she cannot keep a beat. She still plays off of ear. She drums to the song and does not drum along with a song. If she deviates from a particular groove, it is intentional, not coincendital. A lot of drummers will screw up fills or just butcher them, but she has a studio type listen to music ear. Sometimes, she will change the rift, sometimes she won't. This is an example of how she will change a song, kzbin.info/www/bejne/goKqm4WNrMagd6M kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnaloaRmgJx6pck This is what went viral, internationally, several years back when she entered HLAG kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2LTq2R7bdV0hbs kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmnMioGQmrKAkJI Eight years old at Rising Sun concert in Japan, gate was 74,000+ kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHXZkmSHjJiJeaM kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpOYmZefhM-optE This is the best one, kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZzKZ3yVrc2Mo5o

Cool. I had never seen that last tribute video. Some trivia about the next to last link (a cover of GTBT). There are three great artists playing on the song. Tony Franklin was the bassist for Jimmy Page's band following the end of Led Zeppelin, The Firm. Mr. Jimmy had Jimmy Page come see him when he was in Japan. There is a video of the visit - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3eWdaZmh7BoiqM. Paulie Z has a great voice. He has sung on two other Yoyoka covers, Ozzy's Over the Mountain and Mr. Big's Take Cover (Billy Sheehan, of Mr. Big, is the bassist on the track. He also played on the Yoyoka and the Soma family's original song, Utopia).

@@byronbutterfield I am glad that he is doing her covers, but I would like to see him do some of her playing live. She is more than a drummer, Yoyoka is a musician. As I am sure you are aware, playing covers is one things, but playing with a live band is very different. She has enough studio and stage time to sound good with any band. Just so you know, there are a number of her videos we are missing from the Japanese side of youtube. Couple years ago, she did a serious love song on primetime with a couple Japanese singers. Great performance but just fell through the cracks. That is just one that comes to mind. She did another instrumental of a Zep tune on primetime with a sax player and a band. The sax was the vocals for the song. They just don't seem to get past the pacific wall for some reason.

@@byronbutterfield Not so far. There was a merger between Sapporo TV and another entity a couple of years ago. After the merger, a lot of Yoyoka's performances disappeared from Japanese youtube. Like, overnight. I am sure that she and her family have copies of her performances. Part of the issue is that they may not have the rights to repost some of the performances. I can say that there was one two years ago, just when covid stated. Yoyoka was going to play in a jazz ensemble one night in Tokyo, I believe. A famous German bassist was flying in for the performance but something wasn't correct with his visa so he got turned around at the airport. A mad scramble was made to find another bassist who was Juna Serita. They compromised and played Nirvana tunes for the evening. I like Juna Serita and thought that, maybe, she and Yoyoka could form a breakout band. Rie is very traditional as a Japanese woman. As you are probably aware, both ladies went to NAMM. Shortly thereafter, this came out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5a6k3R8bq1mrdU I think, in this case, the collaboration performance between Yoyoka and Juna disappeared more because of Rie than anything else. But I will post whatever I can find from the Japanese side when the opportunity presents itself. Yoyoka did a jazz performance witj Kozo Suganuma not too long ago, Kozo is Senri's drum teacher. She is up on stage with Kozo and Satoko Yumoto. Well worth the watch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHaliZx4nLydgJI This was all I could find. She has been on TV a lot, so all I can tell you is something is going on where you cannot access any of her performances. Even her commercials have disappeared. www.youtube.com/watch?v= iSwiv-GNQlc www.youtube.com/watch?v/kJs9fxRO954 This is all that is left of her Superwoman commercial kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHbYZ6unl5h1a7s I tried to find the videos of her on Japanese youtube, just not there.
