I used to accidentally do something cool and then had to go back and figure out what I just did! I am imagining you behind a set of Ludwig Natural Maple Power Toms, 6” 8” and 10” RotoToms, oak paneling on the walls and my mother flicking the rec room light on and off to tell me dinner is ready. You are getting there young man. NEVER stop. Always keep the bar high. I would love to go back to my early days of the late 70s and early 80s, when I had my drum kit completely installed into the garage with all the soundproofing and the care to detail I did. Learning about audio production while setting up my reference and cue monitor systems for playback and rehearsals. That garage was tightly sealed and was a musician's haven of serious dedication to workshopping my skills as a young drummer who also looked at Mr. Peart as a major influence. My advice though would be for you to lose the temptation and wanting to be a "flashy" drummer .... (stick flips and attention-seeking show off stunts with your physical drumming method) ... Spend THAT energy towards creating and building what will become your body language and physical connection to the art/craft of percussion. Listening closer and closer to the music along the way and learning how to take it from hearing it to actual replication on your behalf MUST be one of your top priorities at this point. Music and the ability to harness the magic of playing your chosen instrument is serious business. Balance that with the sheer joy of watching yourself grow as a musician. Best high in the world I tell you. All the best my friend. Keep us all updated as well.

I tried to post a pic for you but YT is rejecting my comment lol. I spent forever sanding and re-coating clearcoat trying everything to make it look thick and glossy like how it would be on a factory kit before realizing it was just impossible without expensive industrial equipment (as far as I knew at the time at least) so I'm curious whether you had similar struggles with that lol. Overall my project was a bit of a disaster, the drums were already kind of fucked and I pretty much had to ruin them to do it with some of the screws never fitting back tight again and rattling lol.
