My wife and daughter pass away back to back, My wife always wanted this song sung at her funeral, but I had both cremated, In 1 month I will sing this song at a planned memorial. It has been an incredible sad 😔 time for me. My 🌎 was took, but I'm still here and certainly become a stronger spiritual man. God bless our deceased love ones.

I just came across your post. I am so sorry you lost both your wife and daughter. It’s so hard with our human mind to understand why God allows these heartbreaking things happen . My husband passed away almost 44 years ago . Now I’m 83 and am thankful for the family I do have. Just As I Am has always been one of my very favorite songs . I actually sang along with it as your video showed the lyrics . I feel I saw your video today as I just learned my neighbor since 1975 passed away yesterday. It was a blessing because she was in poor health and had lost her daughter, only child, several years ago. I now feel that she is back with her daughter and loved ones who are in heaven . As I sang the song her, I felt like I was singing to Sue Ellen . God bless you .

What is sad about many modern 'hymns' is that there's a number that just repeat a few words over and over. There is joy in music and it's good to be singing to God's pleasure, but the Bible does warn of meaningless repetition in our prayers, our thoughts, and our music. If it's just a couple words over and over again, what separates it from a new age mantra? There is a reason so many pop songs today repeat a catchy phrase again and again until it's trapped in your mind forever so it can pop back up and annoy you repeatedly for the rest of your life. Many old hymns are simply scripture combined with music. King David was a wonderful psalmist and wrote fantastic music that had purpose, reason, and meaning. Songs that poured out of his heart when it was overflowing with the Spirit. He repeats the same message, but in many different ways, and so that his joy and love of the Lord are made abundantly clear. Billy Graham can reach out even to this day and touch youth with the power and authority of his sermons. This is because it's not the man, but the Holy Spirit that calls out to the souls of the lost and it is Jesus that granted that gift and the authority. This is much the same with music, there is power in the blood, and in those old hymns that raised those loving words of affirmation into the sky and onward to Jesus each Sunday for generations. If you transform devotional music so much so that it is just an adaptation of modern music: Satan wins hearts, rather than God. I've seen this issue developing on the Christian station I was listening to until I switched to recordings. They were playing secular love songs, but intending that people should interpret the love talked about as between Christ and His followers, but they do not mesh. And the lust spoken of is of the flesh. Lust is the opposite of Love in every way. Lust is about what "I" wants, love is about what "you" need. I stopped listening and was gravely disappointed with what young Christians, no matter their age, are being subject to by those who claim to be leaders. Guard yourself at all times, even moreover if you are a Christian. Satan is not called the Accuser without cause. He will do anything in his power to twist and turn a Christian, so that he can then run to God and point out the wickedness that you harbour in his temple, your mind and body. Then once that foothold is established, Satan will use it to tear you down and keep you down. Music is one of the gifts that Satan was designed to excel at beyond others of the heavenly host. Don't think for a moment that he isn't aware of the power of music. There is truth to the Pied Piper that transcends legend and the physical world. Make certain that you don't become the rat in that legend.

Hi Sara, I'm so happy to hear that you have found and accepted Christ. Sorry to also hear of the difficulties that you are experiencing. Believe me I know what you are talking about. Please don't let any of these ever cause you to doubt or lose hope or faith. Unfortunately there will always be hurt and sorrow in all of our lives until He brings us to our eternal home. You have likely heard this numerous times already but I will say it again, He knows all you are feeling and suffering but He will never leave you or forsake you. If you are anything like me these words don't seem to help very much most of the time but I still keep them in my heart and mind all the time. I wish we could talk more because it helps to share with someone who understands how you feel. Sometimes I ask God where is he and why doesn't he at least answer my cries. Then at some point unexpectedly I will see in some way that He did hear me. I just keep talking to Him every day and ask for even more mercy than I could ever deserve. Believe me I know what hurt and sorrow is and all I can do is pray and wait. I am praying for you also. God bless you.

This has always been a song of hope for me personally. There is another song similar to this by David Crowder called Come As You Are. I love the words because Jesus wants you to come to Him no matter what you've done or what mess you're in or how broken you are, He still loves you and He will fix you if you will just come to Him. Trust Him. He will never ever not love you or turn you away. How could you not love Him??

This Hymn is so beautiful. I watched the Billy Graham movie with Armie Hammer. They sang it during the Mordecai Hamm tent revival scenes. It grew on me and then we sang it at church. This has got to be one of my favorite hymns besides down to the river by Alison Krauss. If you like this hymn you should listen to George Beverly Shae sing it. May he rest in peace.
