welcome to “Just Being WE”
with kaycee rice
episode 4: identity
i'm so sorry you guys that we had some difficulties with the sound which honestly i love that because it shows the imperfections that make this podcast what it is meant to be.
i was going to cut out those parts but the conversation was too special to cut anything out.
despite the audio noises, this is honestly probably my favorite episode this far and Jojo is someone so special to me. i'm very grateful to have shared this with someone that i grew up with but who also sees me as an equal. x
finding your identity is hard. that's the truth.
but it doesn't have to be linear. you can keep finding new versions of yourself and recreate who you are. you don't have to put yourself in a box because of other people's opinions. and finding your identity is something that comes on your time. it can take as little as a week to as long as years to find the whole you and who you want to be in this world. never stop evolving and be UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU.
start a conversation below x
q: what is "Just Being WE" ?
this is a podcast, but not really a podcast.
let me explain.
it’s more about capturing a conversation and allowing a safe space for others to feel comfortable and seen. this season, in our 8 episodes, we are going to be talking about topics such as mental health, stress, anxiety and also I (kaycee) am going to be sharing my story and the things that I have dealt with as I’ve been growing up through this crazy thing we call life.
I hope that this can open up more conversations and can be a positive light to whoever may be listening. know that you are never alone in what you may be going through and we are here to share, listen, and see you for you. this podcast is a look into my life journal and just like it- it’s imperfect.
just keep being you, as we are
Just Being WE.
new episodes every wednesday at 8am PST

okay, i'm sobbing. hearing this talk about becoming a confident woman really gets to me, 'cause i feel like i'm in this process since i turned twenty. and i feel so heartbroken for trying to be who i'm not just to fit in. i'm relieved that other women are going through the same and it's completely normal. i finish this episode feeling that sorority energy and feeling that everything can and will work out :)

I think this might be my favourite episode yet! I loved hearing more about how you met and your experiences in the industry. Jojo was the perfect guest for this episode and it was so inspiring to hear about the way you both stay true to yourselves even when it can be a struggle or when people see you a certain way. I like how you said that your identity isn’t linear and that you can evolve and try new things while still staying true to who you are. Also love how you handled the questions because it structured the episode a little bit more and allowed you to touch upon all the topics while still feeling like a real, honest and spontaneous conversation. Thank you so much for doing this podcast! i love hearing you speak about things that are important to you and you do it in a very wellspoken way. Love you and I’m looking forward to the next episode ❤

I enjoyed this episode very much because it was comfortable to see you guys' laid-back atmosphere, and casual yet detailed conversations throughout the video. You don't have to care about the audio unless you wanna become a professional sound editor lol I'm still looking for my identity even tho I'm older than Jojo. What made her so special and successful is that she stopped trying to "be successful" , but she pursued what she truely loves. That's probably the best fastest and healthiest way to be successful while being just as who you are. It not easy but I believe this all struggles will make us stronger and get ourselves closer to our true selves. hopefully. Let's enjoy this journey together. Love, from one of your biggest fan in Japan.

Great talk. Funny since watching your series I wanted to tell you that my favorite dancing of you was Ain’t you Mamma from Jo Jo’s class. And low and behold you had her as your guest. As a non dancer I really appreciate your advice because it is relatable to everyone. You would make a great therapist. Another career to add to your others. ❤ luv you. Thank you so much.

Kaycee, I look up to you so much and you inspire me a lot! Hearing you talk about the same struggles I experience is so special to hear. We are the same age and I have been following you since I was 15 years old. You kept me going not only as a dancer, but also as a human. I have very early felt that you are such a good person and have a beautiful soul . I appreciate this podcast you put out here so much! I have a really old soul too an have been forced to be mature at a very young age. But I couldn’t really find a real connection with people, felt like no one was into deep conversations in my circle back then. I’ve always felt so alone in that, thought I was boring and like no one understood who I was as a person. I didn’t look with a lot of judgement to people and didn’t like to say nasty things about others, because I didn’t think like that. But people tried to force those things on me all the time. I struggled with finding my own identity and with feeling confident with who I was as a person and as a dancer. I still don’t always believe in myself to this day. But I am learning. And this episode makes me feel so understood and gives me so much insight in finding myself, my identity. Thank you for that. Thank you for sharing your personality, you are beautiful. ❤️

Such a great conversation, beyond inspiring, and really getting to the heart of the matter. Identity is such a difficult topic to talk about, but handled masterfully by the both of you! I'm going to say this because I think so highly of you KC and that is if aliens were ever to show up on our doorstep, you would be one of a select few that I would ask to represent humanity as ambassadors of how it is to be human. Keep up the great work - can't wait to watch more!

Awesome two of my favorite people .I remember jojo talking about seeing kaycee at conventions when kaycee was little. Jojo, matt steffinaia, wildebeast an jenelle, Jake kodish, an so many other's kaycee has had so many amazing teachers. I personally think that's why she is so talented an growing up with her mom owning studio 13 when she was little an dancing everyday for hours an having. Parents that took her to all those competitions an classes. Kaycee has an amazing an supportive family mix that with hard work an determination I think that's why people call her a generational talent. My wife is a dance instructor and was showing me videos of kaycee when she was 8 an 9 yrs old theres nothing of kaycee's that I haven't seen tons of times. I think its amazing that all that talent an accomplishments shes had she never let that go to her head is the thing I love the most about kaycee. She'll always be my favorite alian 👾👽👾
