75 years old, modern dance appreciator from Canada: found "False Confidence" on KZbin, and then "Ungrateful Eyes", both of which blew me away, and I have been a fan ever since. You are both individually amazingly talented, and your dancing together is just pure magic. You are the future of dance! And hearing you talk, I know you will be helping thousands if not millions of young people, way more than older people talking to or at them. You are both doing great work, and thank you for that. Our fragile world needs hope; you two embody that hope. Thank you.

I never thought something could be this therapeutic. Considering how the people I respect and look up to talked about similar things I am going through at the moment. I respect that a lot. Learning about how they had an abusive relationship with food and how they went through the phase of body dysmorphia gives me an assurance that I'm gonna get through this just like they did. I can’t imagine being scrutinised from being so young. Eventually the negative self talk catches up with you and overwhelms you. I imagine the dance industry is a lot like the modelling industry where people hold this stereotype of what the perfect body is, not to mention the constant judgement that they have faced online so it makes sense that they would have a negative relationship with the way they look and how that would affect other areas of their lives such as going to class and being filmed. It’s really sad but I’m glad they’re at a good point in their lives. I hope the lessons they have learned and will continue to learn will only benefit them and help them navigate low points they may come across in the future. It’s brave being this open but I hope you know how much it’s appreciated. Mental health is still very much stigmatised and when we choose to talk about it, it helps others not feel alone in their own stress and anxiety.

32:10 yes, Sean nailed it (at least for me)- in a way the way you look does inspire us on our "fitness" journey but I think the way you inspire us is different than you conceptualize when you're judging your body - I hope I can make this clear (it's an abstract thing). I was So much fitter in my late teens and early twenties because I loved horseback riding, farrier work, roller blading, and kayaking. I don't look back on the body though. I look back on how fun those things were and that doing them now, after some office time, stay at home parenting time, etc., which have all kept me much less active than I was, would be challenging at my level of fitness now. Your obvious passion for your sport does inspire fitness stuff, but it's related to wanting to do the things that bring me that kind of thrill again. So it's definitely not about the body. It's that there's joy in movement we enjoy. Your joy and passion (when it's easy and when it's difficult) is what inspires
@movezzzzz Жыл бұрын
Sooo I don't know if you'll ever see this comment but thanks to both of you for opening up. I really like the concept of these episodes in general. At this point I would like to leave a comment about the topic of body dysmorphia: I understand that there is a lot of focus on your bodies as dancers even though I never took classes. But for me as someone who is watching your class videos on youtube it was kind of the other way around. Both of you and other dancers as well inspired me so much to care less about what my body is looking like and focus more on how to use it because looks get secondary as soon as you have presence and know how to move (this goes as well for appearance in any situation, not just dancing). At least that's what I've learned for myself while watching. Even though you might haven't felt well sometimes and focused too much on the imperfections of your bodies you still had a positive impact on me :) especially BECAUSE you look great while those imperfections fade and get unnoticable and unimportant

I know you both hear this so often but It's only because it's very true how wonderful it is to see you two together. It could be in dance, going out for a bite, just talking or even if you two were just riding bikes every one would tune in. Why, because your both so funny together, nice, kind, relatable people. I could go on and on. Of course individuality your great and love seeing your individual growth but there is something magical about being/creating together that just brings on the happiness. I'm so glad you two are close. This weeks episode was so helpful. Dealing with stress, anxiety is such a real thing that creeps in on everyone's life uninvited, so rude but what helps me is focusing on my breathing, realizing I cannot control everything and I have to be ok with that. Some days are lot easier than others and on the not so great days I remind myself that it will pass, I will be ok, I will choose happiness over worry. 😊 Thank you Kaycee for doing this podcast. 🤗

Both of you are so generous for sharing your insecurities and personal anxieties so publicly. For being so young, there was so much pressure on you for being role models; but even worse, to meet the unreasonable expectation of the fans. You are sharing an important message to others currently struggling that no matter how accomplished someone might appear on the outside, everyone is susceptible to their own fears and doubts. As an older fan of both you (and a past sufferer of anxiety and panic attacks), I’m glad you made it through this period of life without too much self-harm.
