OK, Question: In past Alabama senate races, what percentage of black women voted Republican? And what was the turnout (compared to this one)? Saying "This victory is thanks to black women because they voted 98-2 in favor of the Democrat" is meaningless unless we know the normal values.

If the toral number of voters in the 98% that voted is greater than the difference in the number of votes separating Jones and Moore, it's valid to say Jones won due to black women voters. Because,if that 98% had not voted, Moore would have won. You don't need past stats to determine this.

@@B_Bodziak But that would mean that you could also say any candidate "won because of white voters" since some significant percentage of white voters vote for the winning candidate in every state race in the country. Which, sure, would be technically correct, but not really a useful point to make.
