I was given a 3 day old kitten because mom was hit by a car. I was 14. I should bave taken the other 2 as well because they just died of neglect from not knowing how to care for very young baby kittens. I learned how very quickly. I had a tiny set of doll bottles in a little carrier. Got a milk recipe from the vet. Mixed up all the bottles (8) before I went to bed. Had a hot water bottle covered with a fuzzy pick toilet seat cover to keep her warm. She woke up ever 2 hours. I got up and warmed her bottles and she would drink 2 at a time. The bottles were about 3 inches long. Typical doll bottles. She thrived and I'll never forget when she crawled to the litter pan, stood up on her hind legs and literally fell into the pan. I would help her out. She was my baby. She liked the smell of chicklets gum and would kill for an olive. Tammy was her name. I miss her to this day. I am 67 now. So, missed her a long time!

Btw those newborn kittens shouldn't be held and fed with the syringe like that, they should be in a position like on their bellies and all four legs apart, just like how they feed on their mom's. If they are fed like that, as you can see in the video, they don't comfortably suck but chew everytime they are fed in a position they don't need to be in, plus you shouldn't hold them, they would choke on the milk or the milk won't digest properly on how you feed them, like holding them on their backs in your hands. So I hope you follow these directions just to let you guys know, also i hope the babies are okay and taken care of lovingly, im saying these not out of hate, but i love the fact that you cared for them with all your level best. Thanks 💕 Also sorry if my english is kind of bad- it isn't my first language- 😅

Some of the newborn kittens were fed on their bellies if you watched the entire video you will see that . Some were fed in an upright position ( I am not the bottle feeder) but the lady doing the bottle feeding said she was holding them so they were more visible to camera in a safe upright position. In the future I will only take videos of newborn kitties drinking a bottle on their belly. By the way the lady bottle feeding has.saved thousands of kittens. The kittens in this video are now about 7 months old, most already adopted. Thanks for your concern.

And i also know that you guys saved alot of kittens, i seen that. Plus thank you for understanding. I really appreciate the fact that lady have saved a lot of kittens and i am aware of that before. And it's ok for the kittens not to be visible just for the camera, the only thing that matters is how comfortable they can be. In my opinion, there's no need to just show the kitten infront of the camera in an upright position than in a comfy position just for the video, you can keep them comfy on something they can be comfortable with. I mainly care for their good health, not many are there to care and save such precious souls. That's why i wanted to declare my doubts. Thanks for sharing btw~💕

You have to hold young kittens close to you so they feel secure. They cry when you pick them up because they are scared. Hold them against the heat of your body and they'll be much calmer.

Yes, most the time these kittens are cuddled with other kittens or held close to a person. They have heating pads, and get the best care. There are some very dedicated people who wake up every 2 hours to feed them. They are so fragile when they are newborns and really need their mom cats. We encourage people to try to find the mom cats, or put some kittens with nursing moms.

I found that cat mothers will look out for and care for their young a lot longer than we think. I have a feral cat that had two kittens in late spring and now it's December and she still looks out for them. They all three stay with me and I feed them but I was surprised that once the kittens got big that she still mothers them not unlike a human mother.

I agree. Most of these baby kittens were turned into the Animal Shelter, then our rescue group pulled them to save their lives. The Animal Shelter tries to educate the public on waiting to see if a mom cat is around to care for her kittens before taking them to the shelter, in some cases they are truly orphans

I never let 5hrs pass. Lest we forget that mommy needs to eat as well and she may be seeking food. One can nurse the kitten's without compromising the mother's attention. From my experience I have been taught by the mother how much she trust me and how far I can go. Patience!! 😉

That is also a concern, mom finding her babies missing. If it's more than 48hrs and the babies are crying I intervene. On a few occasions the mom returned but really had no interest to start with. All we can do is supply love and support.

I am not the bottle feeder, but I asked the founder of our organization. She replied: Baby Kittens very young are too susceptible to illness, that is why the foster is wearing gloves. It is not ideal for them to be held by multiple people since the foster person gives them plenty of attention. There is no benefit for the kittens to be held by multiple people, it actually can stress them, and make them ill. Plus hand sanitizer is not 100 percent and has chemicals. The baby kittens were only being transferred at the time to a foster home, and since they need bottle feeding frequently I was able to capture them on video. They were at the adoption fair very briefly which serves as a quick meeting place occasionally for the rescue and fosters. Baby kittens can be fed lying on their bellies or being held upright, but never on their backs because the milk will go into their lungs and can aspirate them. Hazel our founder has bottle fed thousands of preweans. I hope this answers your question.

I agree, these kittens were brought into the animal shelter from the public that thought they were abandoned. Many kittens probably had mom cats nearby. I believe the animal shelter tries to educated the public on waiting to see if a mom cat comes back first before taking the kittens. We are the rescue group and only take the kittens from the animal shelter so they are not euthanized. If we take abandoned kittens directly from the streets, we try to make sure there definitely is not a mom cat nearby, but you can only leave baby kittens crying hungry alone for so long, no more than a day when giving the mom cat a chance to come back.

Thank you for your concern. The kittens did have warm soft blankets and heating pads with them. The lady who was feeding them, is very experienced. I know there are some ways that she was holding the kittens that could have been better. I have discussed that with her, and she explained she was trying to get a better view for the camera. This video was made over a year ago. and since then I have received multiple concerns over how some kittens were held. I make sure now if I take a video baby kittens, that they are in the most comfortable positions.

You need to go to a pet store and buy baby kitten formula, KMR. Call your local animal rescue group or shelter for advise. Baby kittens are very fragile and need special care. Look up how to care for a baby kitten online. Newborns need to be kept warm at all times and hydrated.

I wish they did have their mother cats. All these kittens were surrendered to the local animal shelter from members of the public, of whom we do not know. They were orphaned for some reason. If we or another rescue group did not take them from the animal shelter they would be euthanized. We always suggest to people to find the mother cat, or make sure that the orphans don't have a mom cat around, before taking them. The mom cats could have been hit by a car, or left the kittens for some reason. Or in many cases people think the kittens are abandoned when they are not, and take them to the animal shelter. I am sure with all the kittens in this video some had mother cats somewhere (we just didn't know). Some of these kittens were put with other nursing mom cats with small litters.

You've did a wonderful job rescuing these kittens. Usually the mamma cat always takes very good care of their newborn kittens, and are very loving to them. But sometimes horrible things happen to the mamma cat, and that when humans step-in to make the kittens lives better for them.
