Just Bought a PS5? Be Careful of These 5 Overrated Games

You perfectly encapsulated what I feel about Hogwarts Legacy. I swooped the game up for around 48USD (about 400 dollars my currency), and upon starting the game, the absolute hour-long snooze fest of a tutorial gave me a bad impression to begin with. And as I kept hoping that the game would get better with its world and combat, if not with its story, I kept feeling a nagging sense of repetitive boringness drooling with every quest I started - the dialogue was so uninteresting and boring I kept switching to my phone every time I had to listen to one of the characters speak - the combat, like you said, was serviceable even in its simplicity, but having played games like God of War Ragnarök and Arkham Knight (both of whom keep me coming back purely for their diverse and versatile combat systems,) I can’t help but feel that the combat in Hogwarts Legacy is simply shallow and dull - almost as if it’s been designed to hold one’s hand (repeatedly tapping R2 with almost no variation in combat except for casting spells; one question, why?). The replayability of Hogwarts Legacy is nowhere to be found, simply put. This game is a chore to get through, and I haven’t yet finished the main storyline either. Also as a trophy hunter, when I had started this game, the first thing I had looked at was the trophy list, and I could tell immediately that this was one of those excessively, and boringly grindy games that obliges you to call those support hotlines because you are contemplating suicide (a sign that a game really has nothing more to offer when it has repetitive collectible-type trophies). When I get hooked to a game (like Arkham Knight - spent 144 hours on the game and 100% it), I spend hours upon end trying to platinum and 100% it. I played Hogwarts Legacy for about 2 hours today before calling it quits - the game is just boring and every quest seems like it takes millennia to end, especially when it adds so little to the lore and story. I’m getting that platinum (eventually… how ever long that takes) and selling this hot pile of dog 💩

hahaha yeah the platinum trophy was genuinely bad for my mental health lol. It was sort of obvious it was their first game which is a red flag if you can tell that from a trophy list. You think the 100% collectible part will do you in but it's actually the fact that after that, you have to replay the first four hours of the game three times in a row (find the map chamber as four different houses trophy) that really is your 13th reason why lol.

@@scopecreep_ Oh do not remind me about those trophies bro… 3 more times to get through 4 hours of this snooze fest of a game. Matter of fact, I’m actually playing the game rn but it’s taken more than half the game (half of all main and side quests) to get me somewhat invested in the game. I’m enjoying it a bit more than when I wrote my comment, but honestly the same problems still persists. The characters speak as if The Flash himself has slowed down time and I just want to cry - why are these darned people speaking so goddamn slow??? I just want to finish my mission so I can progress in the game, not be stuck in the boringly monotonous and absurdly SLOW dialogue segments. Congrats on the platinum though!!

@@Ali-li8we thanks haha I honestly regret starting it though lol. Yeah I wound up skipping dialogue around 3/4th through the main story tbh. Given how robust the game is I have to wonder if limited playtime of reviewers between receiving codes and embargo lifting positively impacted its reception

@@scopecreep_ Very valid point. And honestly smart. I heard nothing but praise for the game when it launched. Reeled me into buying the game so it worked. Smart marketing but ugh, cannot wait to be done with this game.

i got forbidden west and was deeply disappointed, it has pretty graphics but that doesn't stop the game from feeling slugish and its uninteresting characters.

An honest video? Well, I'll be darned Speaking of Horizon; having played all of it so far (except Call of the Mountain, only watched cutscenes), I can understand why people would call it generic. Heck, I've had the same opinion myself at times. However, after all this time, I still see potential in the franchise. I would tell people to try it with an OPEN MIND - just don't expect it to be groundbreaking (except graphics). If you need something to pass the time (long-time or sporadically), this is a decent pick. I have other thoughts on Horizon, but that would be a 6-hour video on its own... I just beat ghost of Tsushima and i think the combat is tighter than horizon, i believe its very flat too while horizon has a more dynamic angle of attack. Different enemy grouping doesnt change the combat feeling at all in ghost but the same thing in horizon changes up the combat a ton that its possible to have new combat experiences during a second playthrough. I felt in GoT that i was just as good as i was after 4 hours while encounters in the forbidden west can destroy me if im not aware of my surroundings.
