There were no stores or businesses set up to transact with gold or silver. It was taken away from the people...including their jewelry. Just a thought. As a veteran myself, there should be something for military getting out to have classes to help transition back to civilian life. The VA needs to have more programs. I am struggling right now to find a job cause the one I had I could no longer do because of my disability

As you may recall my husband is a retired Naval Aviator, Viet Nam era. We go on and off bases, any base anywhere, anytime we want to. Do you have any idea how many times they increase security for access to the base. We all have military ID’s. We present them as we enter the base. Well, my husband, or the driver of the vehicle if it is me, always presents our official ID. Most of the time when my husband presents his ID, they do not ask for mine. Heightened security level for whatever reason they may have, requires the gate security to ask for mine as well. Whenever we purchase anything in the Commissary (grocery store), Base Exchange (department store) or any other shop, the person making the purchase presents their ID. Point: they always know who is on the base and they check ID’s repeatedly….just something we do. And, they increase security off and on throughout the year and we think nothing of it….we only comply. So, the terrorist acts, and the Inauguration and who knows what else will heighten security. Has been that way for us since 1968. You have an opinion, but have no understand of what our military is for. It is for exactly what they are doing. The US has always been the supreme guardians of not only our country but the world. We have various levels of law enforcement to take care of the people of this country. We know right now that has been corrupted. We have Border Patrol, National Guard, US Coast Guard, Police and Sherrifs and Highway Patrol, the FBI and the CIA each agency has various jurisdictions and areas of responsibility. The Navy, and the Marines, the Air Force, the Army and now Space Force all have designated areas of responsibility. No, Colby, the military is NOT supposed to take care of the people in this country that is not related by say Terrorism, War, etc. They never will operate in that capacity except for an extreme situation. Did you ever walk through an airport during the days when the military were heavily armed guarding watching for terrorism potential after 9/11? You may have been too young. That was because 9/11 was an international situation. So you are entitle to your opinion, but what you just described what you think our military should be…..will never happen. The US Military is purely designed to cover all the areas of need for war and stopping war. They watch over, and protect the Land, Sea, Air and now Space. That is one huge job. I believe that Trump has been negotiating and we are all biding our time until he is sworn in on January 20th. He was confirmed as the duly elected President today by Congress.

When you use gold or silver coins, how do you get back change when the coin is worth more than the purchase price? My barter idea would be to stock up on ammo, (bullets), because you can count out the needed amount of bullets for a trade and not be concerned about getting change returned for the transaction.
