Powerful scene - throughout the movie he's fighting and raging against the whole world - because at his heart is the sense that he's not "good enough" since his past failures - when he finally has the opportunity to show the whole world that they were all wrong, complete with a huge potential paycheck, his daughter's voice reminds him just in time that he's always been "good enough" for her as her dad. It's hard not to be romantic about baseball.

On the surface, "Moneyball" is about using unconventional statistics to build a baseball team, with a limited budget, that can effectively compete with wealthier champions. But the emotional heart of the movie is a story about a man who has struggled with being labeled a loser most of his adult life. The movie follows him for a year as he tries to transform his team, inadvertently by picking people who turn out to be much like himself: once full of promise but lately down on their luck. The ending (shown here) where Billy listens to a recording of his daughter singing, is where he internally has overcome those defeats. He has a bright and intelligent child who loves him.

@alessandropinton8133 жыл бұрын
@@IWantToMature85 She's his child, and this makes the world of difference about calling him a loser. It’s an intimate, affectionate way of making fun of him, downsizing the weight of the loss that the girl knows her dad is suffering for the second year in a row. She's like "Dad, I know you lost so badly for two years in a row, but just enjoy what you've done. Just enjoy the journey, not the goal" And then, maybe she knows that her dad "lost" his chance to be successful as a player when he was young, and now he "lost" again as a manager. But it's only a word. Success is subjective. For the girl, her dad did great things anyway. He is successful. There are such great lessons in this film. "We all can compete" and "Cool off the competition and enjoy the journey" are only two of them...

The problem with Billy according to the film is that he can't let it go. He was a big talent when he joined Oakland but failed to make the big breakthrough. Until he wins the big trophy, he can't let it go and move on. That's why he rejects the better offer. He beats himself and despite overachieving every year he is disappointed and he can't ''enjoy the show''.

Love the movie and this song. As a father of three children including a young girl this song hits different now than when I first saw the movie. A lot of what I now see in this song is how the daughters voice reflects that fathers inner voice and insecurities. We all are on the journey and need to learn to "enjoy the show". The term "The Show" is also another term for the big leagues. A lot of layers to this song and emotions, thats why its great. And I am a huge metal head but this has heavy emotion to it; and thats what makes music great.
