Hey Phil, since you debated my comment on the Boggart video I just want to say I see why you think Boggart is a misogynist. I still find it hard but that's due to me being a woman and befriending the guy, so it feels hard to call him that because of my own experiences with him. Rya is still totally scouting for Manor recruits though (Why do you think her title is Scout?), she literally says that it's good that you are able to kill other Tarnished. She just doesn't know about the Manor's secret snake town, she does know about the killing.

What does boggart say that's misogynist? I checked the wiki and all he seemed to say was Rya was stupid for being tricked by him when he got the necklace. But the wiki bleeped out a lot of his swearing so I figured maybe it wasn't transcribed, but checking in game, he called her lucky and stupid. Now I'm thinking the dialogue was updated at some point cause I cant find what he said for the life of me. The closest I can find is him calling the player a swine for first refusing his to buy the necklace from him then changing their mind.

I love Rya and wish there was an ending for her but I actually like this interpretation because it gives her a bit of complexity besides uwu smol bean. As for Boggart, idk, if I realized that a little necklace I stole was actually a trap laid for me I might call the person a b*tch too, regardless of their gender. Where I don't agree with Tulok is I don't really feel like hating woman is a strong character trait of Boggart--he can say some misogynistic things at times, sure, but I don't think that really defines him as a person.

She doesn't know about the hidden places or who her dad is. *Spoiler* When she finds out about the hidden town of torture and glutinous, selfish blasphemy.... she wants you to kill her xD and thinks you're kind for giving her a a memory erasing potion.

@@skvaderarts7009 Yeah, she says confronting. The full quote for this part: "That thug made off with a precious necklace. I need someone to retrieve it. Only... He, too, is Tarnished. If you've any qualms confronting your own, I shall find another..." When you hand her the necklace she says: "Oh, yes, that is my missing necklace. Thank you kindly. I am in your debt. Did I forget to announce myself? I am Rya, in the service of Lady Tanith of the Volcano Manor. I seek stalwart Tarnished who might join our house. You are very brave yourself. Not only a steady hand, but a steady heart, merciless, even to your own kind. Such strength is precisely what my mistress seeks. Please, take this." I will say the 'merciless even to your own kind' part implied she was looking for a merciless killer which was exactly what volcano manor looks for. While Rya seems very out of the loop on a lot of the lore, she also seems to understand her assignment and has done it often enough she's got a routine for getting folks to Volcano Manor.

Crucially, she doesn't ask you to kill Boggart. It's important, for the Manor's recruitment policy, that you make that decision of your own volition. (Just like how Boggart made the choice to rob her!) She does *assume* you killed him even if you bought the talisman, which speaks volumes about the company she keeps, but she never requests it.

The nuance talk about the prison system and the difference between misanthropy here is super appreciated. I really do hope you can keep the energy for some of these bits. One important part of lore on the Omen set- The Dung Eater armor isn't specified to be an from an Omen. I am only bringing this up because some of the text on the armor mentions this: "Malformed helm resembling an Omen with its horns cut off. Worn by the Dung Eater, their form is a vision of the landscape of his mind, and of his appearance as he wished to see it. The heart of an omen without the body to match; could there be any crueler existence? What does it matter, then, if the curse claims at all?" The last sentence making me think that he also had some type of body dysmorphia and this continues with the themes of self loathing and general hatred for everyone, including himself. As well as pointing out how even just identifying with the Omen was looked at as a "cruel existence". While I think that line sounds like it possibly wasn't translated the best.

Well he has played the game start to finish over 120 times now (and he keeps saying 300 so... even more that aren't on the channel?) and the game has been out less than 3 years. He's done every kind of weapon, armor, summon, and he's starting to beat the game deathless so it's almost entirely travel time. I'd be super burned out by now too. That erdtree bump helped for a bit but even that only goes so far.

The issue is that, while we'd probably all be fun with that, if you break the rhythm and change your release schedule at all, the algorithm gets mad. Switching to a 2 week schedule might completely tank the videos. But the burnout is real and the views are slowing down anyway so he's gonna have to segue somehow eventually.

Personally, I believe Boggart is more classist as opposed to misogynistic. Rya is, by way of dress and speaking, coded as 'nobility' (or the closest one can be in a fantasy post apocalypse), Boggart trusts you for enjoying prawn (lobsters were considered 'poor people' food until around 1880, if you didn't know), and does, in fact, potentially meet with another female character; you, the player character. I agree that he's hateful, but I think the in-game evidence points to it not being women, and more about wealth/station. Though, I do also feel you're more than warranted to dislike him for how he acts and speaks to and about Rya ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, good luck with the new channel! I hope it takes off enough that you can direct more time and attention there than only elden ring :)

The reason the Sword of Milos is pierce is because its critical attacks are thrusts. If it chopped into the target from the side like a colossal sword does, it wouldn't have any pierce. Doesn't matter that much for it, but it's neat for other Greatswords because it allows piercing Ashes such as Giant Hunt to be used.

something you said reminded me of an old book by Piers Anthony called "Macroscope", where they jokingly called that device the "super dooper pooper scooper". oh, and I once saw someone do a weird challenge run where he made his Summons do ALL the fighting. he allowed himself to do cast healing spells on them, however.' his biggest "roadblocks" were a couple of bosses where he could not summon at all, and...Rykard. to beat Ryhard, he upgraded the special spear, equipped it, then summoned the Mimic.

The piercing heavy is from the Claymore moveset. When you roar, you replace it with the wild swing moveset.

The sword doesn't have Claymore's R2. That's a stab, the default R2 for SoM is where it drags on the ground and runs forward. The Ash replaces it with the three hit swings.

I think Raya does know that her mother kills people. Because the part of the manor she is allowed to see she is in the room where her mother sends out hits for her champions to complete. And her mother and Bernard openly talk about revolution and challenging the erd tree, her mother does have her find champions to recruit in order to join there cause so I think it is plausible that she knows to that extent.

the piercing damage on the greatsword comes from a single attack that you dont see often-- the dual wield backstep light attack. with two greatswords, the backstep attack causes you to thrust with both weapons. this does pierce damage. the rest of the moveset does not.

No matter how you get the necklace, even if you do buy it from Boggart, Rya pretty clearly thinks that you might have killed him. She even frames it as a good thing. She doesn't know *everything* about the manor, but as a SCOUT for the MURDER CULT FOR KILLERS, it's pretty obvious she knows the Volcano Manor kills Tarnished. Does that excuse Boggart's behavior? Probably not, honestly. I forgive him personally, I'm 90% sure he's only putting on the tough thug act to hide his soft side that only wants to cook a bit of seafood, but that doesn't mean he isn't a little misogynistic. But trying to say Rya is "a soft little uwu baby that has 0 clue what happens at the manor" when she is, quite literally, Rya the Scout? As in a scout for talent? For the blasphemy-murder-blood cult? She quite literally HAS to know the Manor's intents for Tarnished. The only bad take you've ever had, Phil. And it's a pretty bad one.

I need to preface this by saying that I enjoy your content and none of what I'm about to say is a direct attack against you. But what you say at 14:06 : "Can you read the words and understand what they mean ?" Kind of condescending here, and ironic because you missed a few things. Rya knows that Volcano Manor hunts Tarnished. She says, when inviting you for the first time : "I seek stalwart Tarnished who might join our house. You are very brave yourself. Not only a steady hand, but a steady heart, merciless, even to your own kind. Such strength is precisely what my mistress seeks." So she knows what Volcano Manor does and she seeks to recruit merciless fighters into her organisation. She is aware of that and Boggart is the perfect target to test you. She even may have intentionally got the necklace stolen to give you a reason to go after him, or at least it's implied. Media literacy and all that, you know. Also, he does call her a b*tch once, in one line of dialogue, it's true : "That b*tch put you up to this, eh. Damn it!" Which is when you attack him in Liurnia in order to retrieve Rya's necklace. He assumes she sent you (which is correct) and yeah, while I agree it is a misogynistic and unnecessary insult, it does not necessarily make the character a misogynist. Boggart is a very rude and ill-mannered thug to everyone, regardless of gender, and in this situation where he is about to die, he curses the woman he believes sent you to kill him (which, again, is correct) by using a rude and ill-mannered word. Boggart also treats your character the same regardless of their gender. Not really something a misogynist would do in my opinion. He is just a rude, uneducated, petty thug but not a misogynist asshole like you seem to think he is. That aside, I really enjoy your videos and harbor no hard feelings towards you or your content. I just wanted to point out those mistakes in order to clarify what seems to me like a misunderstanding. Thanks for your hard work !

The only circumstances in which Boggart calls Rya a bitch is literally if you attack him, in which case he assumes that she put you up to it. Sure, you personally may know that Rya is an sweet, innocent girl, but Ol' Boggart wouldn't. Besides, he's got another line about Rya, and while he isn't exactly kind in it, he doesn't make use of any pejoratives in it. He basically just comments that he thinks she's not quite right in the head, and if she's stupid enough to let herself be duped by him, she's lucky to not have gotten herself killed as of yet. But you didn't know that line, did you? Because you only ever know his dialogue from what happens if you attack him, do you? That is not very media literate of you, Phil. Not gonna lie Phil, I don't think calling a person a bitch for putting a mark on your head over a case of petty theft is misogynist. Which is when you attack him in order to retrieve Rya's necklace. He assumes she sent you (which is correct) and yeah, while I agree it is a misogynistic and unnecessary insult, it does not necessarily make the character a misogynist. Boggart is a very rude and ill-mannered thug to everyone, regardless of gender. In this situation where he is about to die, he curses the woman he believes sent you to kill him (which, again, is correct) by using an easy, rude and ill-mannered word. Boggart also treats your character the same regardless of their gender. Not really something a misogynist would do in my opinion. Not saying he isn't a rude, uneducated, petty thug but he is also not the woman-hating asshole you seem to think he is. By the way don't take this the wrong way, I enjoy your content. I just want to defend my opinion about this character because I feel you're unfair to him.

The Poop Stomper ! FINALLY ! ^^ Okay, not to be 'that guy' once again, but I actually thought in the Boggard run "Oh well, he doesn´t know..." Thing is (correct me if this was patched out) - when you go the Dung Eater doll route, right after you administer the potion - wait for his head to slump down - the prerequisite for Seluvis is DONE. But the DE still has a hitbox... You can just KILL him and get all his armor and weapon, PLUS the doll from my least favorite mage. I know it is cheesy (more than) a little, but hey, Miyazaki made it this way ! Man this would have made this a super easy early game for our fecal-friendly serial killer XD PS: Anemia is when you have LITTLE blood, so that would make them bleed LESS (and also weak and feeble). Hemophilia on the other hand means you bleed way MORE, thus dying fast from bleeding wound. This one is what enemies like Mogh have. He WISHES he was anemic, so he won´t bleed so fast.

If you've seen one-shot challenge videos, they are basically that. The runner just spends like twenty seconds putting on different buffs and then deletes the boss in a single hit.
