There is a custom map called Defense of the Ancients. There are so many versions. Dota Allstars seems to be the best. It's flying under the radar, I know, but you could give it a try. There is also a cool steam version. I'm sure you've never played it before and ranked it against other mobas.

I remember playing this one back from before that new expansion with the Lich king and stuff came out , stealth assasin got perma invis at level 3 and had death ward ultimate from modern witch doctor, except it was not channeling (and if you picked him the other 9 players left before creeps even spawned).

I`ve been playing CF for ~9 years with my friend. When you host it yourself you choose all mods manually. And we play with 2 workers each with bans and picks, faster income and no artillery. Its the best autobattler imho. Such a pity that its almost forgotten game =\

Hell yes! I was hoping you try this map. You most likely will ignore this, but there is a strat involving buying damaging items and building "artillery" buildings or non-unit production. Towers help with this task immensely. Whole goal is to soak enemy gold from units while giving them minimal in return.

here comes another suggestion if you hadn't too much of them yet: Orcs vs Elves is a highly strategical and asymetrical team play. It is a bit like hide and seek, with wisps being hunted by orcs until they have gathered enough ressources to fight back eventually. I always felt overwhelmed but it absolutely scratches some itch. Can be micro heavy at times. Have fun with whatever you do, mate!

synch the spawn time of your troops with the one of your allys. Use waypoint flag of your buildings to synch! Build your structure 4 3 4 if you got mech builder and use "powerplant". Mech got pretty good tower as well to safe more rs. Last but not least - cage some spell immun creeps in your base corner to counter special buildings of the opponent. I remember playing castle fight in the old wc3. It was 2 lanes and I played 1v1 and everyone had 4 workers and you did manually sync the units, you needed much more APM.

Direct Strike may SEEM to have more unit variety per round (it doesn't have rounds like CF, but I can't say "per game" as then CF would win in that department), but CF has way more factions. Grubby didn't even get to see my favorite one - the Chaos faction. Their unit department may be a bit lacking, but they have the best legendary structures :D One destroys all enemy units of a random unit type (so if enemy is massing the same unit type, they are screwed), and the other destroys a random enemy building (that isn't their castle) :D They also have the "Faceless" unit, which gets a random armor type every time (can spawn with divine armor :D), and a random passive (like stun, or chance to cast chain lightning on hit, etc). The Engineering faction is also pretty good - big unit variety and that pylon buffing nearby structures is theirs.

Great map , one of my favorite , some tips about sync - u should turn it on with ur allys on beginning and when ur team is deff and turn it off when u are pushing ( to get more units). Also u should try LTD and Survival chaos maps ( a lots of fun 😉)

To add my two cents about this map, which I was heavily into ~12 years ago, I think Castle Fight is best played 2v2 with 2 lanes. Then you're facing off mostly against one opponent and either using your matchup knowledge to take advantage of power spikes and enemy access to frontline armor or backline damage types as best you can while your opponent does the same, or you're sussing out what random units your enemy has, much like Neji and Kidomaru trying to figure out each others abilities and weaknesses without giving away too much. All that while managing your resources and timings and playing to your lineup's strengths.

Mass wells are OP. Turn them off if u are snowballing, turn them on if opponents are snowballing and situation will change fast. Tentacles are worse than useless, they are helping your opponents to get a large stack of units, since forward ones are waiting for those who are back, while killing tentacles.

-rr3 -ur -nb -nt -ntb -na -si Played this map for decade and I think had most fun with these setups :) (-mp2 for spicy 1v1) Those commands will do following modifications in order: Random races 3 Rounds, Unique races, No bounty(for kills), No taxes(no penalty for building buildings), No treasure boxes, No artillery, steady income. This prevented all the cheese strats and it was all about mindgames and counters and unit combos.

must say these are very tolerant teammates. some years ago I used to play this map with my friends via LAN connection plus with some bots so I had some experience and definitely had a clue on what i am doing. so eventually i decided to go playing castle fight online and joined one of the game sessions. i just made ONE building not in the perfect line with the others and my teammates just called me a noob and all have left the game at once leaving me alone and not even trying to coop with me after a minor mistake (and i briefly lost ofc). so i never tried castle fight on public servers again

You should try War of Races. The level of depth in its races/units/upgrades is really really cool. It's also not a full autobattler, some players on the team will control a single hero in addition to their spawned armies, but that actually adds even more depth in how you push/pull waves or deny enemy hero from doing so. There are a couple things I don't like about the mode and some of that community is very toxic, but I would still recommend trying the game.

I would recommend 1v1 multiple builder mode for higher engagement and utilization of strategic play. There can be quite a bit of skill involved to the point where an average player will never even come close to winning vs somebody good at the map. You will seldom find it in the 3v3 format though.

If everyone on your team stacks the Blast Staff instead of building units, you can kill enemy units without them getting gold from killing yours.

Not gonna work on good team XD. They simply turn off their units production until your unit push back a little then they turn it back on making your staves value drop greatly.

@@davevinci7485 The situation lead your team to all buy the staff in the first place is because your lane is being push back. Which mean your units are hard countered and/or under valued compare to enemy team. In this game it can also be translated as they invested more in unit production buildings and that's equal to better passive income. So if both team turn off unit production by this point, they will have better passive income (your team also lost money invest in the staves since they dont count toward passive income if i remember correctly). Meaning after a while they will have money to build a bunch of unit production buildings and sync them all together for a massive push and your staves wont be enough to defend your base nor your inferior income.

Biggest problem is that there is a lot of stacking and no resetting. In DS you can see what the enemies build and counter. You get a fresh start after everywave because the previous wave died to the tower. In CF you can build the counter and still loose cause the enemy blob has already formed and you are forced to reset with Rescue strike. I dont like the random spawning either. A castle fight with towers, fixed spawning intervals and heroes would be fun tho

You are supposed to reset your spawn yourself, you can do it at any time 😅. People playing this on stream are new

@@inrakie1009 What i mean with reset is that the gamestate resets itself. A state where the whole battlefield is wiped and neutral again. In DS this is acheived by the tower. In CF it does not really exist because the spawning works different. ofc you can control your spawning but you do not reset the board state if you want to say so.

You reset the Waves, clash with a full one into a hurt one. counters in castle fight will turn the wave control more often than not and are far more effective than in DS for example. As for hard resets,there is only one for each, there are however far more ways to kill units or defend against a push

Will you do YouTD at some point? Has to still be my favourite map and the main reason, Warcraft3 is still my favourite game of all time. It also is the only "big" map I am credited on, even though it is under the cringy gamertag I used when I was 12 (kill4m4st4). I think the official version doesn't work with reforged though sadly, so you'd either have to play an unofficial version, use an old Warcraft Patch or play the standalone version.

I miss this map, although it's hard not to admit that DS is a much improved evolution of it - there aren't as many units on the screen at once which means less lag but also you can actually see wtf is going on in DS compared to this. Thats a patch issue, this map version was made for 1.28.5 patch, and was ported to Reforged 1.32+. so alot of minor and major problems with it.

castle fight is gr8 map. Lot of strategy in it. Not that hard to learn, not easy to master..... ideal for new players
