Just How Good Is The LAV 25 in Squad?

I wanted to keep this one as Raw as possible so you guys have a good insight as to how I Squad lead / command whilst running a Vehicle. I've cut out all of the boring bits though. Hope you enjoy!

The Lav-25 is an awesome vehicle, but it’s utilized so wrong all the damn time, if people understood that it’s a support vehicle for infantry and not a headline vehicle (like most APC’s) it would be fantastic. i.e Stop using it like a tank or a bmp.

If IFVS actually did their job and transported infantry, I'd double check I'm playing squad. Because IFVS that transport infantry are as rare as a coordinated team. Rarely happens.

@@Hinokassaudifan1 I do agree, I’ve tried before and when it does work it’s pretty much impossible to lose but for the vast majority it doesn’t happen and it’s dissapointing

I do agree that mechanized infantry is cool but sadly that's just not how Squad works. People use the LAV like a "headline vehicle" because that's what it is. It's the only IFV that USMC get. They are required to actively search out and engage enemy armor because otherwise nobody will and your team will get terrorized by enemy IFVs while your LAV is getting swarmed by HATs and LATs on the objective. If you want an infantry supporting APC, use the AAVP. That's literally what it's there for.

the lav is so good if you use it to bring a squad to the frontline then support them directly by providing smoke cover and killing enemy infantry and or light vics. it is so useless when it is used to go around hunting enemy armor, and imo, ALL armor but TDs are useless when used to go around hunting enemy vics. if you don’t kill, infantry, what is the point of a vehicle? vics can’t cap points and can’t clear buildings. all efforts should be put into making your infantry more effective.

Personally I just wish the AP on those 25mms did some more damage. They’re severely outclassed by Soviet/Russian 30mm in sheer damage output. As an infantry support role, however, they’re fairly good as you can tap fire the gun to maximize ammo efficiency.

Excuse me wtf? it's the complete opposite, the 25mm does more damage than the 30mm in squad, also has a ton more pen and muzzle velocity, only lacks in rate of fire, but it completely shreds vehicles and it's part of what makes the canadian LAV 6 a broken wheeled IFV, and the other LAVs really good vehicles. Before you say anything, data is out there, you can check.

@@JF_Suzuki IDK man, I’ve seen LAV-25s lose gunfights with the entire game stacked against a BMP-2, and they still lose for some reason. Armor position/angling, initial engagement, even with LAT support. And I still see 25s lose more often than not against those flat asses BMP 2s.

@@swordsman1_messer The 30mm 3UBR6 of the RGF BMP-2 has a base damage of 300 and 70 pen whereas the bushmaster M242 does 400 base damage at 95 mm of pen, it also does significantly more damage at range. Fire rate is the obvious issue Id say

Again, y’all can keep telling me the theoretical, but I’m telling you my experiences; LAVs have an impossible tendency to lose fights to BMP-2s for no inexplicable reason. Regardless of other factors, if it’s a 2M, if someone is targeting ammo, etc. I can’t explain it, it’s just what I’ve seen happen.

because when you do the infantry doesn't call out enemy infantry/vehicles to the armor. Numerous times an IFV drives through all of my infantry and will just kill me, and I didn't hear a single callout for it

@@Bannerlordfor for me 90% of the time our armor is no where to be seen and when asked they say "we are hunting enemy armor" and in the map they are somewhere on the opposite edge while we all know well where the enemy armor is since its slaughtering our infantry. and if our armor is lucky by the end of the game they have mayby 5 kills

@jussi8111 majority of the time I would agree that armor is not contributing as much as they could be. However, some crews do try to play with the team and from my experience when you rely on your infantry (which you HAVE TO if you want to play mech inf) you basically have no support

The LAV-25 rule of thumb is If you're not using not using it in a mechanised inf setting then you're probably using it wrong

@@Ghost-vo6ev not aiming backwards is only a problem is the LAV6 crew is misplaying. In terms of autocannon fights, the LAV6 will beat ANY other IFV (unless the opposing gets an ATGM hit first)

Idk if i would say the coyote is better than the LAV25, when the only differences between them is that LAV25 has a different ammo load (same total, just different type), a troop compartment, and is amphibious Full difference rundown: Coyote has no troop compartment Coyote and LAV25 have less ammo The ASLAV and LAV25 are amphibious. The ASLAV and LAV 6.0 have hunter killer commanders. The LAV 6.0 has ~40% more health than other LAVs The armor schemes are also slightly different for each, but the differences are small enough that you wouldn't ever notice them in game. They might change the course of a fight at some point, but you will never have known they did.

LAV-25 is the worst bushmaster vehicle in the game (except for maybe the PARS but turkish armor is bad anyways so it doesn't matter). It drives like shit, feels super like laggy and buggy, has less AP to kill vics, and less HE to kill inf, than all the other LAV variants, and to top it off it's made of paper. I'd honestly prefer to use the AAVP every single time

Yeah... LAV25 is by far the worst IFV honestly. And it isn't just "it loses in armor fights!". Like you said, is handles like absolute garbage, low ammo count and 30mm HE is 3 times better than 25mm HE

@@johanness3850 The coyote at least only fills the role of a recon vehicle. The LAV25 is supposed to be the USMC's IFV and in that role I'd say it absolutely fails

@johanness3850 coyote is worse but the coyote is not CAFs main IFV. They don't take the spots of LAV6s unless you play the one garbage 3 coyote CAF spec. Meanwhile the LAV25 is the USMC's main IFV

shit vic, poorly suited for mech inf and poorly suited for vic hunter cause of ammo, only notable thing about it is that its on wheels, also, both Canadian variants are the worse as the lav 6 cant shoot rearwards, and the Coyote lacks internal dismounts

LAV6 not shooting rear is a overblown issue. If your team and armor crews are playing well it literally is not a problem. LAV6 is the best IFV for mech inf, maybe matched with the BTR82

Lav 6 is a unit! It's got the most health of all the LAV series. Lav 25s greatest strength is its speed, and hardly anyone uses that to move infantry about

The lav 6 has 1750 Hp. all other LAVs have 1250. It is by far the best LAV.

@@A_Honcho People saying that coyote sucks because no troop compartment, but proceed not to use the troop compartment on any LAV anyway.
