Just In Time For Mother’s Day…

Congratulations to @zootopeka’s Orangutan family members Rudy, Mawas, and Bumi!
This morning Topeka Zoo’s Bornean Orangutan Rudy gave birth to their newest addition. Today zoo officials closed the Lianas Forest building to provide additional privacy and allow for bonding. Both infant and mother appear to be doing well, and they anticipate the building reopening tomorrow, on Mother’s Day!

I think new moms should be given several days of privacy from the public eye. Think about the adjustment to her own body and life, and within her family. These beings should come first, not the money-based googling eyes of the public.

Idk to me it didn’t look the greatest?? She’s not holding the baby close to her she’s holding it out to look at her?? The baby is obviously is distress and probably hungry because she hasn’t started nursing her or even bringing her to her nipple and the baby REALLY is trying is time stamp- 3:57 till the end but at 4:21 in the video the baby looks up at the camera asking dude/ or girl filming for some damn help cause she’s hungry and mom isn’t to motherly😭
