Peele's character is a kind of demigod, a god of foolishness. Laughing reveals his divine heritage. His unchained voice of laughter cannot be fathomed by the human ear. A long time ago, he was bannished from the realm of gods, cursed to live among the mortals. Through the eons, he's been changing shape and form disguised as many people throughout history. In order to return into the immmortal world, he has to find a soul that likes to joke around with him. Hence, he was cursed to live a lonely live, as true laughter would cause human eardrums to be shattered as they hear his voice. Knowing for quite some time now, that he will never find someone whose ears resonate with his voice, he strays from town to town, leaving one superficial relationship after the other behind him. A truly tragic drama.
