And I think sometimes we have a hard time differentiating between discussing a thing and promoting a thing. Ice-T was accused of promoting violence when actually he was depicting what young black men had to live in the inner cities every day. If he sometimes spoke in a first-person point of view on those matters he still didn't think they were an ideal to live up to. We don't give minorities enough credit for being self-aware. Are there rappers who glorify stupid things? Undoubtedly, but you see the same thing happen in rock music and I never hear anyone say "I like all music except country and rock."
