Thanks you have been a massive help when revising for the TMUA, hopefully my work will pay off. Good luck to everyone else taking the exam.

I find long exams much more difficult due to the constant concentration required, would you have any advice on how to not become as mentally fatigued?
@rtwodrew22 жыл бұрын
I think it's just practise, I think it's a lot like physical work in that regard, in that you can't run a marathon unless you've done a lot of long runs. Although having said that even now when I do either long papers just for fun or have some specific job that I'm doing that takes ages I'll just deliberately zone out for a minute or two, maybe get up and walk around, before getting back to it, I find that helps me a lot to keep it focused when I'm back to it

Maybe a quick video going over the specification? not the obvious stuff like 'rationalising the denominator' but the less obvious stuff that we may not have gone over in year 12 like geometric/arithmetic series

I have a series specific video out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmXSe6BrfLqtbtk I'm not sure how interesting me reading a spec is but I'll have a reread for anything in it

I'm going to barely finish the TMUA past papers, probably leaving me 2 days before TMUA. What should I do in the 2 days, redo the TMUA questions or start on something new like some MAT mcps?
@rtwodrew22 жыл бұрын
Have you made a list of questions that you didn't get but looked over after? I'd just do all the questions on that list again

I have started revising way too late for these TMUA papers. It's been 2 weeks I was training. But I feel I'm so bad at them. I barely get 50% in the past papers when I time myself. Do you think I'm bound to fail and it's stupid to even try or should I keep going and training extra hard this last week?

@@hetmakadia3299 I’m applying to Cambridge. It’s my dream University. How much % should I get to have some chance of being accepted?
@solux93962 жыл бұрын
@@maksedits933 I got told 70% so 28 out of 40 puts you in top 10% of applicants, so any score of 13 or 14 and above is very good

@@maksedits933 I have read that a 6.5 and above is good, but I have heard of Cambridge applicants (to computer science) getting less than that.
@hetmakadia32992 жыл бұрын
@@maksedits933 6.5 is usually a good score. But there are a lot of factors deciding if you get accepted or not so don't stress too much :)

As it uses yr1 a level maths and other bits, Is there point in going over those specifications again and using textbooks to solidfy theory, or should all focus be on TMUA qs?
@rtwodrew22 жыл бұрын
I'd think about looking over the TMUA spec and seeing if there's anything mentioned there that you think you need to practise. Looking over the A level year 1 spec has the problem that not all of that is in TMUA, for example you don't need vectors in TMUA. You can use the textbooks for anything in there that you want to practise. However, just be aware that not everything in the TMUA spec they actually seem to care about asking, for example circle theorems
