Do a flow test Air travels faster over a smooth (polished) surface. With air to fuel 14:1 you best believe any extra air you can get into your cylinder is more HP.

Right. Polished surfaces only help air flow in the exhaust. They do not help air flow in intake. Right. Ok. Got it. Just had to triple check I heard it. Nice. Good. Cool.

what about on direct injected engines?

How does direct injeciton respond to a "mirror finish"? Any gains to be had, or a waste of time?
@n4thawin2 жыл бұрын
Nothing needs to be mirror finished. Even a slight texture is better than mirror polish.

Great laminar flow, probably no downside. The mirror finish hurts port injection and carb engines.

@@rcamacho364 hmm interesting I just did a nice finish on my intake side only my car Dynoed 225 so technically what your saying is if I re Dyno it it will make less power?
@rcamacho364 Жыл бұрын
@@bryce_fa5si we're talking direct injection. If you have a port injection or carb and you did a good job on the port you'll make more than stock but the mirror finish will make it less than optional because it will pull fuel out of suspension. An 80 grit or so finish will slow air down at the wall so the rest of the column of air will glide on top of the trapped air and keep more fuel in suspension. There's more to it but I don't want to write 6 paragraphs on a KZbin reply. Go check out some good porting books it'll elaborate much more.
