If anyone is wondering, this is also called "Tinner's Fluid": ZnCl2 flux = hydrochloric acid (ammonium chloride) and a few tiny pieces of zinc. Let the zinc dissolve until it stops bubbling. It dissolves passivating oxides, exposing the clean metal surface.

I also tested it and it works great with pure HCL

I used HCL hydrochloric acid solution to dissolve the zinc, it dissolved in 1 minute and bonded the solder very well. ❤🎉

Known in the U.K. as killed spirits, hydrochloric acid was known as spirit of salts years ago. Bakers fluid and most old time fluxes were made from it. Still the best, but wouldn’t recommend using on water systems, or electrical jobs because of corrosion.

specifically, it's HCL + zinc. HCL and the reaction fume is pretty poisonous, use safety gloves, mask, glasses, and do it outside

El cloruro de Zink (qure es lo que preparaste), es un muy buen fundente porque ayuda aparete a disolver los oxidos que dificultan las soldaduras, pero todas las soldaduras que mostraste estan " frias", y eso es muy malo, nececitas proporcionarles mas calor para que te queden muy bien, suerte.

Where are your protective gloves? And disclaimers about the dangers of disassembling batteries or mixing various chemicals? The title & thumbnail encourage viewers to "just put a battery on a soldering iron", giving the appearance that you care more about generating clicks/views/money than ensuring the safety of the communities where you publish content. You responded elsewhere that "the goal of this video was to showcase a unique approach to recycling"...yet that goal is largely incongruent with how you presented this content & is easily missed by the average viewer. I do hope this was an isolated, unintentional oversight on your channel.

Are you using a lithium battery or an alkaline battery? Just curious because I'm trying with an alkaline battery, but it spot out a bunch of juice when I opened it up. Just making sure it was same thing

I am using akaline battery. If the battery is too old and kept for long time, it would have liquid when you open it up

Make sure you use the lithium battery on the soldering iron. Also make sure your hands are clean. Use the hydrochloric acid to get any oils off them first. Better yet be careful with tips obtain from the Internet.

Buenas tardes, otra forma de conseguir fundente para este tipo de soldaduras es usar lejía directamente .Se aplica unas gotas de lejía con un pequeño bastón o pincel sobre la superficie a soldar. USAR SIEMPRE GUANTES Y MASCARILLA. Yo no recomiendo usar estos métodos para soldar conexiones a una pila o batería, se puede producir un cortocircuito .
