Is it just me, or does anyone else get more "tingles" before the actual haircut or shave even starts?...From the throwing the cape over them to all of the "small things" (getting the scissors out, getting the pre-shave out & ready, etc)?...Even when they comb his hair & look for the parts in his hair...I get more ASMR from that than anything else...I'm not crazy about clippers

Showing my age here, but I miss the sound of the stroping of the razor before the shave (that's when I got excited). One doesn't even see stropping straps hanging from the chairs these days. Hello, one-use blades.

I’m the opposite. I literally skip to the end to see the finishing touches. That’s the best part. Unfortunately, some Barbers don’t have much of a routine at the end. This one being one of them.

I finally looked up Clubman Pinaud Aftershave Lotion Lilac Vegetal! a bottle of which you see at most every Barber Shop that does wet shaves in North America. It has a very interesting history going back to the European horse cavalry days in the 19th century. . It was originally formulated to mask the smell of a horse that followed Cavalry officers around. Being a dashing Cavalry officer was one thing but to smell like the sweating horses you rode was something else completely, it sort of put off the ladies.
