This plane is 1:1 FMS Skytrainer, which by the way is perfect begginer rc airplane. I converted my own Skytrainer into FPV and it flies awesome. I noticed that even the ESC of the Sky Cruiser is the same - Predator 40A, so one can fly it on 4S battery. Awesome trainer! Thanks for the video!

Appreciate the comments and support. I just gave this plane to a friend I've been teaching to fly. He's been training on my FMS Ranger and doing very well... I've just used the 3S batteries. Felt they have enough umph and power for the type of plane.. Good to know you can use a 4s...

Thats means a lot brother.. Really appreciate it.. KZbin is a wonderful place for us to share the good and the bad. I really try to put every plane in a positive light, but I'll try to point out the things that I think need some attention/modifications. You're are right about the positive comments. It makes it all worth while. But, then there are the guys who love to critique everything.. I try to ignore those... God bless you too my friend. Looking forward to seeing your review of this plane. As I noted, there's a bit of work on the assemble. But she flies like a high wing trainer...

@@SteffenRC Well thanks so much1! It should fly well and the FMS Sky Trainer 182 flew great . This is the same mold and just rebranded from FMS to Arrows. FMS owns Arrows anyways so this is a great cheaper alternative to the more expensive FMS Cessna 1500mm Which as we both no is an awesome plane.

Good demo of the build and flying. Perhaps this might be a good option as the first scale plane, after a new pilot has learned with a slower, more basic trainer plane. ( It certainly has a lot of nice scale features and the flying can be a rewarding scale like performance. ) A lot of trainers have really flexible wire gear that can handle the rough, bouncy landings of a new pilot. These gear seem a bit stiff in comparison. Probably depends on the skill set of the new pilot and their preference in airplanes.
@SteffenRC5 ай бұрын
I agree, it really depends on the pilot. The fella I'm instructing now, has taken a few solo flights with the FMS Ranger. This plane flies about the same. He likes the scale bits on this one. He'll be able to handle this, no problem. This landing gear is rigid as you mentioned. Foam wheels will really make a difference. The vector gyro, flaps and scale details will be a nice option for those newer pilots.

Hello my friend. its a very nice bird for a trainer or if you want to take it as a Sunday flyer and just relax. Very nice review. I do wish Arrows would install the servo horns on the plane and a few other things that you had to glue on... Tell Arrows its 2024 and we don't want to have to install them. Otherwise its nice bird and thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍

This is the FMS Cessna rebranded, I have some of the Arrows birds they are the exact airframes of past FMS products just rebranded, with newer electronics. The problem I found with Arrows is replacement parts are hard to get so I have had to resort to getting the relevant FMS parts which match structurally but not aesthetically often. Good value, very solid

Hi Will. How does this fly compared to the FMS Cessna 182 1.5m? At 60% of the price it might be a great option. Obviously a lot of work to build.
@SteffenRC5 ай бұрын
I really like the FMS Cessna 182 for several reasons. 1. The wings are removable for storage and transport. 2. its a bit more scale and looks quite nice on those slow flyby's. 3. The assembly is a cake walk. Don't get me wrong, this is a good plane, but if you have the extra $'s the FMS Cessna is worth it. At $180, this is a really good deal too.
@Stirling_RC_Videos5 ай бұрын
@@SteffenRC So, since I already have the FMS Ranger 1220, neither of those are really ones I'd be looking at next. I actually have the E-flite Cherokee 1.3m and now the E-flite T-18 1.2m so I'm probably staying put for a while. I like the idea of these "trainer" planes as they do fill a need. I'll be adding nav lights to my Ranger today as I miss them at dusk where the Cherokee excels with those lights.
@SteffenRC5 ай бұрын
The FMS Ranger 1220 is an ideal plane to really take you from beginner to mild aerobatics. Just really work on your landing approach and have those nailed before you get the Cherokee, T-28 (I really like the Eflite Cirrus SR22t). All good options. Just get ready for things to happen a big quicker.. Good luck....
@Stirling_RC_Videos5 ай бұрын
@@SteffenRC I do appreciate your videos with the Ranger to learn to fly. They were very helpful. The Ranger is pretty tame. Yes the Cherokee and T-28 are faster. I had the Cherokee to 70 mph Tuesday and the T-28 around the same tonight (2nd flight). The Ranger and UM X TTE are great for landing training and I'm doing well with them. I have tended to land the Cherokee a bit hard...not enough flights on the T-28 yet to say how I fly that. Thanks again.
@SteffenRC5 ай бұрын
Gotcha.. Look like you just need to get that nose up on the Cherokee to smooth is out the landing and slow it down. Goes without saying that to really achieve great landings, you can't be in SAFE mode. You need to play with that elevator a bit.. Especially when the flaps are deployed as they tend to make the plane pitch nose down.... Keep at it.. Will

Good review but ease of building and attention to detail like screw length, cable routing and gluing components make this a poor model compared to the fms Ran 28:54 ger series .

Thanks. The plane requires a fair amount of assembly for sure. I have the Ranger 1220 and love it. (If it only had a wing tube..😞). There are so many planes and reasons one might buy this or that. I’m glad we have a pile of options. 👍🏼

Actually, you should never use blue Loctite around plastic as it will destroy it. Loctite 425 Assure is made for plastic items, but it's probably hard to find and expensive. I just use the clear contact cement like what comes with Freewing planes. You can also use Beacon Foam-Tac, Bob Smith Foam-Cure, or UHU POR.
@SteffenRC5 ай бұрын
I should have shown, how I apply my loctite. I use a toothpick and just smear a bit onto the threads. Not enough to run or touch the plastic. But you're right, using foamtac or something like that is a great option without the risk.

That thing flies way too fast for a trainer. This certainly should not be someone's first airplane that's for sure. It's too complicated.
@SteffenRC5 ай бұрын
Really? I put an awful lot of batteries through her and while flying the FMS Ranger between flights. It was a bit fast on approach than the Ranger, but not much. I don't think it would be too hard for a new pilot with an instructor. But, it all depends.
@christophergagliano20515 ай бұрын
@@SteffenRC For sure you will have to have an instructor as part of the learning process for this aircraft. Forgive me, but I'm old school when it comes to new pilots getting into the sport. A simple 3 channel set up (elevator, rudder, throttle) is all you need as a beginner. Maybe with an aircraft with ailerons installed but not used at first might be acceptable.

Completely disagree. Everyone I know who started flying in the 80s and 90s learned to fly on 40 and 60 glow high wing trainers - this draggy big electric foamy doesn’t come close to the speeds of those trainers - ruggedness, stability and control are key for a trainer - speed is life for someone who is not experienced enough to handle or avoid a stall - this thing is a great trainer, rugged, stable, forgiving and good looking as a bonus
