I’m doing a backsplash made with porcelain mosaics. So far I love this saw. Next weekend I have a natural stone project. I had the first rigid 10” series saw, and I loved the accessory water cleaning nozzle. Didn’t use the laser. I like that they left the laser off the “Beast”. The water/sediment system has been improved in a big way. The beast came cutting dead square out of the box. The older version needed squared up right away. I assembled it with loctite blue and greased in between the spacers upon assembly. The older model would need random bolts in the stand tightened constantly. The beast is a nice machine, and I am happy with the purchase

This looks like a nice saw. I bought a Rigid tile saw a few years back for some tiles I installed in our living room. Thank God I’m an electrician because tiling is some hard work!

Haha, thanks for sharing your experience Ron. I'm hoping to install some backsplash in the kitchen and then go from there.

A pearl blade and this saw is a DeWalt killer. I love my 7" and 10" Ridgid tile saws. I've had the 7"for 3 years it's wore out but still gets the job done. The drop fence is awesome it's about time someone though of this

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm planning on testing out another blade on this and will have to try the pearl too. I agree with the drop fence, it's a nice feature and easy to use.

They have had the drop fence on the newer 8 inch which I’ve had for a year or so and it is fantastic. I find the 8 inch the Goldilocks and don’t have any need, for the most part, for the 10 inch. I did see the old 10 inch saws way way marked down and impossible to get. I figured a new model was coming out

Good review, appreciated. One huge negative I've heard about this saw is the supposed "Lifetime Warranty", where a LOT of people have complained about nightmarish experiences with Ridgid concerning that.

I haven't hear much about the warranty procedure. I'll keep my ears open to see if anyone else says anything.

When you collapse it, use your foot to unlock the stand before you even lift up on the handles. It will be a lot smoother for you, you shouldn’t be feeling the weight that much

Ridgid implemented the DROP GATE on their wet tile saws and decided to charge an INFLATED cost of $900 for this model and $584 for the 8" - 12 amp model. Ridgid and Home Depot are getting crazy with these prices for their wet tile cutters. They're not selling in my area and that's for certain. Home Depot has TWO of the 8" - 12 amp in STOCK for 8 months now since they decided to raise the price by $100 out of nowhere from $484 to $584.

What size arbor? Would it take a wood blade so you could cut oak flooring?
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 2 жыл бұрын
Good questions. It's a 5/8 arbor. I'm not sure on the wood blade part. I'll have to take a closer look and share my initial thoughts.
@bucklanddarrell3911
@bucklanddarrell3911 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's a 5/8 arbor but I would never use a wood blade on it. That would be an incredibly dangerous thing to do. The way it rotates, it would yank the table into the blade and probably either hurt you badly or damage the motor or both. That doesn't happen with tile blades because they're continuous rim. (They don't have teeth)

I've found doing tile work a little addictive. I did a floor in my kitchen on a limited budget, I went to habitat for humanity and discovered a good supply of cheap tile that were good quality. Usually a not to big supply of different colours and patterns. Knowing your going to have to create some sort of pattern to cover your floor space is great incentive to get creative. I started out by making a scale drawing ( graph paper makes it easy) marking it out in squares representing what ever tile size is plentiful, usually 12". Then it's a matter of mix and match with what's available. This 'goes with that' and that 'goes with this' Once you've got something you find acceptable get your tiles, and a few extras of each colour if you can and use your pattern guide to lay the course's, this is a little tricky and you have be carefull because each one has only one correct position. When it was finished and grouted it looked amazing. I was supprised on how many compliments I got. Having a good tile saw is a great asset because there are a lot of slight variations in size. So if there are some that you really like and could be feature pieces but are a 1/4 " to big you can trim them, a good saw is a big asset here. This let's you expand what you can use with what you can get. Do this once and you'll never want one solid colour again. Best part it reduces your cost down to about 50 cents a square foot. You can buy tiles that would go for over $3 each for 50 cents when there's only 10 or 20 of them.

Great advice, thanks for sharing! I have a habitat store not too far from my house where I've picked up a few odds and ends. I'm glad to know to go there for some tiles. I'm also a fan of graph paper, so it sounds like a good fit for me.😀🙌
