Another interesting fact about Emus is that they can’t walk backwards. Like Kangaroos which is why both animals are on the Australian coat of arms

Wow, that's weird that they still have an Australian mating clocks. That's not how I'd expect whatever mechanism they have to detect season to work.

I had 2 emu. At around 9 months I had moved and wasn't able to keep them. But my male. I could pet his beak. He'd roll his eyes closed with head resting almost on his back.. He would peck your buttons or glasses. Just a pest. Always wanted to be petted. They would do flips in the kiddie pool. Ran around like 2 dinosaurs doing figures of 8. I miss my farm. The girl. Raised together. But he was just REAL friendly. She was skiddish.

My mom and dad kept these birds and would hatch the eggs in this huge fancy incubator. They make this drumming sound when they get excited for something and they are very curious. They would peck at anything shiny.

I don’t know that we don’t like talking about having lost a war to the emus, but more that your average Australian has no idea that we actually had a very small scale military action against them that didn’t do much. I am also very surprised to report that there is apparently a movie coming out about this so-called war slated for release sometime this year which is starring John Cleese.

Awesome brother! Good on you man.. I love what you do… now people are coming out of the woodwork to show you their love!! As Jerry Garcia would say “All good things in all good time” Great job bro!

I can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear the word "emu" pronounced correctly. Hope you show vids of hatchlings. As for the Great Emu War, I can confirm that Australian society as a whole is so ashamed of their defeat that they don't teach the Great Emu War in schools.

Fun fact . It is the male Emu that sits on the eggs and hatches them . Does not leave the nest at all . Once the chicks are all hatched ,it is the male Emu's job to look after them . Female Emu has nothing to do with them at all .

Why did the Aussies lose a war with emus?
@JCEE1017 ай бұрын
Yeah the Aussies lost the war to the Emus but not the Indigenous People of Australia, we hunt and eat Emu's and Kangaroos. Emu eggs are nice too, really creamy.
