The handles were more than likely leather. I used to restore those camel back trunks. They are easy to replace. Nice trimming in that one.

That mouse bobblehead is Topo Gigio from 'The Ed Sullivan Show', not a Bobble Mouse Chucky as described on sheet -- it's a great deal at $20! Those vintage deer were a fabulous find at $20. Love 🦌. So lucky you are able to find so much vintage in your area. Great video, Jocelyn! 👍

I have one of those old trunks. The inside is just as fantastic as out out... had some very unique art work. Also, I learned the the trunks with the rounded top too belonged to the more elite. The top kept them from being stack on the bottom in stowing, so they were always to first to be unloaded.

01:23 The humpback trunk is going to be 1900 or a little earlier - maybe as early as 1885. My wife inherited one almost identical from her grandmother who was born in 1911. Is the trunk maker's label still on the inside of the lid? Leather handles are _always_ missing. The leather perishes and rots away after about fifty years. If you know a saddle shop that's good with rivets, they can be replaced. The lock assembly is more of a problem. You'd have to hope to find another trunk that's busted up but still has all the hardware present, and scavenge from that. 03:27 They're heavy because they're bloody cast bronze. My grandmother had one of the big torchière floor lamps and it *hurt* when you stubbed your toe on it. 11:18 The spine is about half an inch from completely disbound, and I might be over-generous about it at that. 11:58 But just think! You could have a practicum on how to treat a choking patient! 14:54 That horse done been in a train wreck. I don't believe he'd do for working livestock any more. 15:15 Nonsense! It's just a question of arranging the flowers properly. 😃 💐 💐

Something I learned from The Bargain Barons is that the curved topped trunks were reserved for the wealthy. Because they were curved on the top, no other trunks were able to be placed on top, so they were always at the top of the pile during travel...

You found a lot of stuff today that had repairs just wondering is there any value at all in pieces that have been repaired or they just basically Worthless?

This really depends on the piece itself. I try to stay away from things that have been repaired. Chips/flea bites is one thing, an actual repair from being broken is a whole other issue. Again it really does depend on the piece. For example there is a piece of Murano glass that is/was (not sure of the auction date) expected to sell between $70,000 - $90,000 and it is broken, the part is included but will need to be repaired.
