I think a lot of people are forgetting that this line of figures is meant to be a part of a 'War for Cybertron'; they're designed for intergalactic space battles, so I think it makes sense that the alt mode looks like something pulled straight out of star wars.

I use mine as a sattelite, which too me makes a whole lot more sense as an alt mode for the Decepticon Communicator.

I'm going for this Soundwave because the better lightining on the eyes, plus that brautiful yellow colour, and not to mention the fact that there's several fan modes that turn into that casette player. So really, you get that space ship, the beacon/tower/light secret transformation and the boombox fan mode.

I just bought the Legacy version, I actually had the Netflix version, but had to sell it last year. Something about this Soundwave I really dig. There's also a cybertronian tape player some people have shown off, that really sold me on this version. Plus, I like the yellow eyes.

100% agree. He looks like a poor person's Shockwave in this mode. They messed around with his transformation mode in one of the films as I recall. Too much unnecessary/counter-productive concern around the marketing table about transformation into outdated modes (i.e. cassette players) imho

I thought the same, probably why mine has never been transformed as I try and ignore the weird flying brick mode. Mr Wave and I go back a long way and I was actually more impressed with the core class figure they made. It’s an itzy bitzi, teenie weenie, transforming Walkman thingie.

I honestly thought you were gonna show his secret cassette mode. His official vehicle mode is different than what I was expecting. But I still really want this Soundwave, or the newer Legacy version.

I just got Soundwave and as usual I have to look for a KZbin video to teach me how to transform him because the instructions are confusing. Is the song used in this video a KZbin free use song? It sounds so much like one from Yuru Yuri. I did listen to what's on iTunes and tried to Shazam it.
