I love my 2000 CL500. I often think I should sell it and get something else but every time I drive it I think what else could possibly come close to this level of luxury and style for the money. Very cheap to buy and expensive to maintain but they are worth it.

Amazing car!! My dream is to own one because of the price they are today vs when they were original, The only thing that scares me is if they are workable for a normal mechanic nor from Mercedes with a service manual.. Sometimes these cars can be very complex.. But still a timeless automobile!!!👍

There are 2 speed sensors on the transmission control plate in the transmission. The can fail. In My playlist of the w201 V12 build is a video about this plate . There is a possibillity this is the failure

@@13959akgvp Go for it man! Timeless design, great handling and a ton of fun for a good price. You can find plenty CLK500's under $15,000 nowadays. If you can find a reliable car-wizard there's nothing you should worry about with the 500, aside from regular replacements for your break discs/ pads. Just remove the muffler (the rumble is amazing), swap out the radio for one of those cheap aliexpress bluetooth/ android ones and you're set. Promise you will love the car. So yeah the CLK was and still is my dreamcar since about 11 years old, I plan to pass it on to my son when he's 18. I will never regret buying that car. Shit breaks here n there due to its age but repairs are quick and easy.

@@13959akgvp Dang that's a tough one. Also a stunning model. Where I live, CL's are very affordable but I have met a guy who wants to get rid of his CL63 asap. Says it turned into a nightmare moneypit pretty fast after 200K KM's on the dash, errors kept popping up every week or whatever. Check out Legitstreetcars video's on his CL65, this might give you an indication of what owners go through 😅 I say if you want a quick zippy reliable Benz (that doesn't break the bank when shit goes left), go for the CLK. Just keep it maintained properly. Keep me updated, curious to hear what you'll end up buying 👍🏽

Sorry for late comment / question. Thanks for a great review of a beautiful car. Do you recall what size the rims on that CL were please? Also the car featured did not have heated and cooled seats. That was an option and the one in the video had the basic two stage heated seats. The heated and cooled buttons have 5 little lights and not three.

@@JMSpeedshop Here are the details of the rims and tyres I fitted to my 2000 CL500 yesterday. No rubbing at all and they look great. I did have to buy shorter bolts though as the rims had thinner centre parts and I did not want to fit spacers. Rims are 19 x 8.5J with offset ET 44 and tyres were 255/40 R19.

All W220 S600 V12 (367 or 500 hk has ABC as standard, CL (W215 - all models has also ABC as standard). ABC was option for the V8 models, but otherwise in CL 55 or S55 AMG with kompressor (500 hk models) has this equipment. Regular models has fault Airmatic suspension that goes bad pretty bad with high mileage cars.

Look for body damage And corrosion also on the roof because the car is made of a lot of different material. Abc. Ride height can be changed so check that. Also if you go into the sport settings. I needs to change without a sec. To a harder ride. Also check if the struts are dry And not damaged. Try to find the Abc pump And hear if it is not making a weird noise that not supose to be there

Ok, on mine the computer is saying its my rear left abs sensor, keeps slipping out of gear because of it plus now have a misfire in cylinder 7 so hope to god its only spark plugs

+sputnic it depends what engine or edition you buy but i would go with a V8 r129 the value is going up if some maintenance is not a problem or you can do it Yourself go for the r129 SL 600. Cl500 are also good but Every wit this much options needs maintenance but don't buy the NA cl600 that is a money pit
