The same thing happened to me! The smell was just too overwhelming for me which was the first reason I returned it. The second reason was the amount of frizz I had as well. For 30.00 it’s was a big no! Went back to my Aveda gel.

@ well I was hesitant as well - after I watched your video but… it fades and I actually don’t smell it after I apply it. It’s very strange that it doesn’t bother me but the olaplex - wow.. it was so chemically that I was nauseous within the hour. Wouldn’t matter though- the frizz was just too much - other products are way better. lol ❤️

I love how honest you are! It's very refreshing. I love this gel, but ONLY if I use a strong hold gel/mousse with it. By itself, I also get a lot of frizz and not much hold unfortunately. My hair feels great though!

So far I am loving your content. I would love to see you address some of the challenges that come with styling longer curly hair.thats not something we see much of. Humm, now I can't remember who it was, but I am sure that's how I got to your channel. My biggest challenge...lol there is a few, mostly self imposed. The biggest hurdle was actually learning and realizing all products aren't going to make my hair feel like straw. Afterthat it's trying to figure out what kind f curls I have, that's difficult because only the bottom half actually curls the top half is just wavy, I suspect it's the weight of the half, and if I need moisture or protein! It very confusing!

Ahh ok! Well I think that’s awesome that someone re-created my wash day. If you ever come across it, send it my way. I am tickled pink! As for your hair, I feel like the longer it gets, the easier mine gets. Except I hate it when it gets long enough that it gets stuck in my armpit! 🤣🤣🤣 Yes, finding the right products is such a challenge. And you probably do not need protein unless you have bleached your hair, or it’s damaged. Keep in mind that we cannot reverse damage done to our hair. But most likely you just need moisture. Curly hair is naturally drier than other hair types and can use a lot more moisture . Which is one of the reasons why I actually use a leave in treatment as my first styling product. And my hair loves it. So keep the faith, keep trying, and you’ll get there! My all-time favorite products are Innersense. My curls last the longest with those and have no frizz.

Thank you so much for the honest review! I also have to mix products. I use the Marc Anthony curl cream & Marc Anthony Curl Defining Mousse on the bottom half of my hair The Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam on the top for body. My main styler for hold is Rave 5X hairspray which I spray in my hand and scrunch on last.The Marc Anthony products are softer and allows me to scrunch out the wet look easier with a tiny bit more curl cream. It's taken a loooong time to figure this all out. All these products are very affordable.

I'm so glad you tried this product ... I had a feeling it was going to be to lite a hold. When they don't put a hold description on the bottle I just know it's not for me. And I've just learned to love a little frizz on day three/four ... it is what it is :-) I'm working my way through the Redkin Acidic Bond Curly Gel now. I love the shampoo and conditioner but only "like" the gel. I think I need to order some of that Aerogel and give it a go; maybe that's what I'm missing.

I used to live and die by the REDKEN Curl gel. Give Aerogel a try and Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpt.

The Marc Anthony is wonderful. If your hair is especially dry you might want to try the 6n1. I do think it is better but maybe not so much that everyone could tell the difference.

I actually adore the Olaplex gel but I am low porosity. I gives me a relaxed,shiny curl but it is soft hold so summer may be interesting.

What are you putting your hair up with before bed? I have a silk scrunchie, but I feel like I'm pulling curl out of my hair putting it up with that. My hair is fine and while not thin, it's not plentiful either. I'm learning how to let my new curly menopause hair look better! Your videos really help! ❤

It's always a trial and error for us curly girls. I use Ouidad moisture lock and the volume jelly, then the NYM lighter hold with the NYM hard hold to get what I need. But the Aerogel is a game changer, so everyone needs to go get that stuff!

Hi! First, have you tried Aerogel??? If not, try it!! It’s a total curly girl game changer. If you have tried it, I also recommend Kenra Volume Spray. It has great hold. Frizz makes me crazy! What are you best products to mix. I know you said you don't like mousse. I typically like it bc it wets it really good. I typically never have luck consecutive days in a row. I always wash and simply fix my hair daily. I know that's not good but I was hoping to hear that you liked one product. I use any curl activator spray, then mousse, then cream, then hair spray and scrunch scrunch scrunch! and diffuse. Story of my life. Love your videos! Thanks

Hi!! I adore the Innersnese line and my second fave is Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpt. With Innersense, I mix I Create Hold, I Create Curl Memory, and I Create Volume. It’s fine to shampoo your hair every day, I just always hope that you don’t have to because it takes time. When my hair was shorter it would look a mess when I would wake up in the morning but I would shake it out and it would all work out. Make sure you’re not being too picky. Nobody notices our hair as much as we do. Everybody else thinks it looks great. 🥰🥰🥰

I bought this gel because of the hype. Used it a few times and enjoyed the results but returned it to Ulta because in truth my Harry's gel preformed better and I had better results. Harry's is $8 and Olaplex was $30.

Hi Lenora, It looks to me like they may be discontinuing Aerogel. It's getting harder and harder to find. Even Amazon is only getting it through private sellers. I just ordered three big ones and four small ones for travel. You hooked me up with this and I can't be without it. Have you heard anything about it being discontinued as a professional?

Hi! Thanks for asking! It is NOT being discontinued. I called the manufacturer (the number is on the back of their can) and asked them and she immediately said it is not being discontinued. One of the suppliers that I have used for years to purchase it quit selling it recently but I just found another distributor (for the salon). We are good! Hopefully we will have a lifetime supply!! ❤️❤️❤️

Nope, nope, nope. The gel was a complete failure for me. I tried it three different ways and it was just bad. Since so many curl influencers have been raving about it, I felt like I was doing something wrong. However, when I looked at some older videos of theirs, I noticed that they aren’t using the newest “fav” release from even two years ago. I want to believe that the reviews are genuine and not a ploy to get views and sponsorship. I’m excited to see your ‘old school’ product and routine next week. I mourn the discontinued mousse by Finesse from 20 years ago that made my curls defined and soft. The hunt continues…
