awesome room. Lucky you. I have converted wine cellars / cold sellers into livable rooms for customers in the past. What I do is clean the walls ,Tar them, add tar paper then continue to frame with wood studs. You can also insulate if you want. unfortunately this process will ruin the historical look of that room. not sure if this helps but looking forward to seeing how this room turns out. amazing Channel. you probably produce amazing fruits and vegetables which I would love to try

The heat from your lights may help with the damp as it's been a cold wine cellar up until now. If you can come up with a solution to the problem of damp you'll be a very rich man. It's really just a case of holding it back and repairing as best you can. Bitumen paint, used for roofing is like a tar which would create a good barrier. You could then install wooden studding on the wall, using galvanised screws and rawlplugs to secure it to the damp wall. Drywall on to the studs and you should be all good. For extra vigilance you could tar the back of the wood studs which come in to contact with the wall. Insulating would be a bit of a waste of time as you don't wanna retain heat. I've read a few of these comments and had damp problems myself and honestly think this would be the best way to go. If you're really unsure, hire a specialist for a free quote, ask what would be involved and undertake the work yourself. It seriously won't be anything you can't figure out by watching a good how-to vid on KZbin. Which reminds me, would love to see a follow up video. Best of luck 👍

I would install LED lights instead and create a closed room with no air in or out. Add C02 tanks and seal the room with rotating ventilators. Looks good though!

I would go ahead and paint that wall with a mold resistant rubber type paint Maybe also think about putting a panel board over it after you paint it that would double insulated keep it from molding up and then put some ventilation in there that way you could get rid of that humidity. that should pretty much fix the problem

i would suggest you fix any issues that exist with your gutters and down spouts first. if that doesn't solve the problem look for old drains, ect that empty onto that side of the house. if nothing look at the grade of the yard with a water level (easy to build yourself if needed). in general try to get the water away from the house. if all else fails look into installing a French drain. stone foundations are notorious for seeping. water proofing the wall alone is just a bandaid I assure you. best of luck

hi...no matter the size of a growroom i should put an intractor?
@Just4Growers
@Just4Growers 8 жыл бұрын
+David esteem Hi David, for smaller grow rooms and grow tents an air input (intractor, as you say) is not always necessary. You can simply rely on passive air input through a hole, preferably covered by a bug screen. However, using a smaller input fan will reduce the load on your extractor, prolong its working life, and increase efficiency. It also arguably gives you more control over your garden's environment so, if you have the budget, I recommend getting one.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your comment. I published a grow room build update 2 and then I decided to focus on specifics such as light coverage as, at the time, I was just just starting out with the channel and nobody was searching for "update 3" :) that said, if you are interested in following the room build process from start to finish then bear in mind that I'm starting an additional room early next year and I will be documenting everything. Let me know if there's anything specific you would like me to cover in depth.

+Everest Fernandez (Just4Growers) Already did brotha! and Thank's for replying I'm currently building a small room for 4 plants in a shed out back for my girlfriends mom. I have been doing a lot of reading over the last couple years and have had little chance to apply my knowledge to get specific data for bigger grows. Give me a few days and i'll make up a list of things I would like to know or see. :)

who the hell has a wine cellar to convert to a grow room besides you? come on man, be feasible. what do I need if my room I have is not as well insulated as say solid 2 ft rock?
@Just4Growers
@Just4Growers 8 жыл бұрын
lol thanks JJ. I am converting a regular room over to growing activities later this year -- I had to start in the basement as it was crying out for a garden. Just buy the best insulation you can afford, seriously, and cover your walls and ceilings at the very least. Insulation is so important throughout the year.

yes that wine cellar is amazing. I have baseboard heat in my room but haven't had a grow in summer time yet, where I live is very hot and humid in the summertime. I am dreading it because I really don't have the funds or electrical capacity to run a decent size AC unit on top of my central air conditioning. August and July are scorchers, should I just take a break for those months or do you know of a fix?
@Just4Growers
@Just4Growers 8 жыл бұрын
+juicyjumbler Try to be in vegetative mode during these months, rather than flowering, and use pruning and training to combat any elongation issues. Make your nutrients 20 - 25% weaker during these hot months. Use a substrate based growing system rather than water culture, aeroponics or NFT. Add extra oscillating fans in your grow room to increase air movement.
