Harvest season is in full swing at the Ithaca Farmers market! It's a beautiful day and the market is crowded.
The Ithaca Farmers Market is busy today, but sales are slow. How can that be?

Love the Farmer’s Market vids! I loved reading your book! I really appreciated learning about efficiency vs resilience. I now see all kinds of things through that filter. I’ll bet you wish you had more turkeys to sell this year with the shortage and all. Here in Wyoming, we have the most open cottage food laws I think in the country. You can sell just about anything you make if it is sold directly to the consumer. Wish I could try your chicken! Love the channel!

Hi Pete, our local farmers market in Shropshire, England has seen a downturn in trade the last 2-3 months, possibly due to price rises and less disposable income, the meats and veg traders seem to have suffered the least ( people will always pay for quality products) but the cake, jams and craft traders have really took a hammering. All our love to you and family, Anthony and the girls.

Pete, maybe there is a way for you to have a display case to entice the shoppers. An inexpensive Plexiglass case with an Ice bed might just get more attention. Or you could use some 12V/120V coolers that you could re-engineer under a Plexi case to keep the meat cool. You could switch out the vac packs now and then to keep them frozen. I want you to DO well and BE well.

Hey Pete, we flew out from Oklahoma to Ithaca last week and hit the Sunday farmer's market. Unfortunately, I know you weren't there, but it was neat the see the other booths and walk around the trail a bit while listening to the live music. I was very surprised though, the traffic was crazy! We had a pickup and driving through Ithaca was very difficult, and the parking at the farmer's market was very tight. I always thought it was out in the country, but it was right in the middle of town. It was also so much busier than I expected; I always thought Ithaca was a quiet little town for some reason. But it's a beautiful area, and we loved sitting on the lake and watching some sail boats go by. We also visited Ithaca Commons and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology; it was a great time overall!

Although I'm sad you did not seel out of everything, you once again, provided us with a great video Pete.!. your "Walk about" the market provided great shots of all the produce. and its great to see that. one thing about Farmer's markets here is we know what we're seeing is produced by people who care about what they are producing and how its done and presented to you the customer. The thing that scares me the most at Super Markets, is all the produce coming in from other country's in mass amounts and in doubtful growth procedures. hygiene etc. All too often we see runs of E-colie , Salmonella, fungi of various states etc. you just don't know what you are getting health wise for your family. I know there are rules etc. but lets face it they are unkept a lot and tons of stuff slips thru . So its nice to view great produce grown here and in the best of condition that it could be. thanks for sharing and have a good day ! Pete! God speed. ECF

Pete, I always enjoy a day at the market. My favorite part (besides you interacting with people) is seeing the gorgeous vegetables. Today certainly had some beauties. The colors were remarkably intense, and they seemed to be displayed with a decorator’s artistic eye. It would be interesting if you could video a day at the winter, indoor market. I don’t recall if you have done that before. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Pete, I only have 35 hens , but many are on sabbatical till their feathers grow back. I just feel sorry for the girls who look strange as they get picked on the most. I went from 11 1/2 doz a week to 7 doz and many times the girls who aren't loosing feathers are having their eggs eaten by the girls who are molting. But I put out a scattering of mealy worms and fly larve and I have notices less eggs being eaten. Loved the video on the seasonality of the farm!
