Hidden witchy idea: you can make an "altar" that is a necklace. String and knot beads so that when you lay it out in an open circle, the symbolism is laid out. I would have a specific bead for each element, one for the Goddess, and one for the God with grey or white beads in between as spacers. It could absolutely be switched up and played with! You can also make paper beads that have hidden text or sigils in them. And my piece of good news is that I finally got to the point in my apprenticeship that I'm tattooing!

Hey Frankie, You can use apple cider vinegar to kill the mold in your houseplants. Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a quart of water, and spray onto your infected leaves, stems and soil for a few days and it should clear it up. Hope this helps!

For hidden witchcraft, my Italian-Romani great-grandmother taught me to keep a messy altar on one's bureau or desk. Basically, let your mundane items pile on, and camouflage your witchy items. It works as a glamour of invisibility, protecting one from being outed by or around those who would not take kindly to your practice. Tangled necklaces can be knot magic, loose papers can have sigils hidden among them, mail can help you keep prayers sent to the spirit realm consistently, crocheted or knitted doilies are advanced knot magic (weaving and working with tools can imbue more potency to your spell), tiny broken objects and curiosities can be offerings to your house spirit/ the fae (if you work with them) . . . things like that. And all those mundane objects can help cover up more obvious items (my grandmother classically hid the athame (stiletto) and poison-ring passed down by her matriarchs. There were poisoners and assassins in her line, and although they might arouse suspicion under normal circumstances, she always kept the special blade under her mail (Oh that? just an over-rated letter opener *wink wink), and her poison-ring under some tangled jewelry.

Just to add, you NEVER HAVE to be open if you don't want to. Witchcraft is very personal, and you never have to tell anyone anything you don't want to. Also Frankie, Springtails eat mold! I got mine from Josh's Frogs, but you can probably find them at a pet store.

Hello, everyone! Here's another witchy tip: Any hot drink can be a potion or brew! Put your intentions into your drink, stirring clockwise to manifest something to you, counterclockwise to banish something away from you. I always use my spoon to stir a pentagram or other sacred symbols into my tea before drinking it. Hope this is helpful! Love your soul, Frankie!

I have a tip! Birthday candles! They are small and inconspicuous, so it’s not weird if you have them. Also, they burn very quickly and are great for candle spells! Not to mention they come in different colours so they also have correspondences!

TIP: If you have judgemental family and want a hidden altar, you can also add a glamour to keep people that would frown on it from even noticing! You can also keep deity statues and paintings around as decor if you take up a general interest in classical art! Lol I have a framed PUZZLE of the Birth of Venus that I put together after finding it at a thrift store in my living room for Aphrodite 😂 (I’m actually open with my practice but I have a bunch of classical art around my house and nobody has asked me about any of my witchy pieces because it’s just my “aesthetic” at this point! So the statues of Persephone and the paintings of Aphrodite and the poetry about Persephone and Hades go totally unnoticed by people that don’t already know, & I don’t even really care lol Imagine that plus an invisibility glamour!)

I'm glad to know you are providing safety tips to witches, not in the open. I'm very lucky I had parents who were very accepting and supportive of my craft when I started at 12. Not everyone has that privilege. Yes, Safety is so important. I'm still very private and not as open in my craft, even after 25 years. I'm an academic researcher and scientist in my day job. I'm grateful and blessed I have the privilege of having my own private apartment, where I can practice freely. Thanks for the wonderful tips.

@@Specters0rd I just set up a private board and start pinning images of art of them, or their motifs, or other "offerings." The way I see it is that the Gods know that in the modern era we might not be able to devote (or have easy access to) many things that they've historically received. But that doesn't mean there is a barrier of entry. We have modern things like data or gigabytes that we can sacrifice, the gas in our cars to go to a location in their honor, a donation to a good cause in their name, etc. If you are in an unsafe situation or just don't want to have an open alter a Pinterest board can really help (or if you prefer a more analog system, print out images and tape them across a two page open spread in your journal.) You can open up this 2-D alter, light a nondescript candle; and journal, shuffle tarot, or meditate as a way of connecting with them. I hope this all made sense 😅

Growing up my family was very against witchcraft so I couldn't keep anything in the house and all I had was a tiny "travel sized" tarot deck and dowsing crystal in my purse. one thing i did when i was more hidden about my working: scented candles tend to not be questioned as much in my experience. i would take a pen or stick and carve a sigil into the top of the candle and light it. you wanna do it on the top bc that's the first wax that melts, so when you're done with the spell, it'll be back to looking like a regular non-witchy candle. glamour magick might also be a good subtle way to practice. even if you're not into super bold stuff, some ppl will draw sigils with concealer before blending it in.

3:28 my altar is currently my dressing table, i store a lot of stuff in empty cosmetic bottles and the candles set around there look like there’re just there to set the mood/ for the aroma. To anyone who doesn’t know any better, they’d just think I’m really into self-care/skincare!

A great way to have tools in plain view without them drawing unwanted attention is to get a few antiques books from a thrift store. Books on antique metalware, antique brass, identifying metalsmiths marks and stamps. You can have these on a shelf next to brass candlesticks, a scrying bowl, an offering bowl, goblets, bells, animal figurines to represent familiar spirits, scales to represent justice. Etc. But instead of looking like a witch, it just looks like you love antiques 🤷

Frankie, I love seeing down to earth approaches to witchcraft! I am out to nearly everyone, but considering toning my stuff down because I've grown to want to be more private with my practice, it has become more personal to me! I think stuff like this is great for those with mental health issues (like me), the chronically overwhelmed, the private, the ill, the poor. Thank you for showing people that they don't have to be like the girls of tiktok and Instagram to be valid💜 my first altar was a wooden box with a triquetra on it, a crystal glass, a mirrored candle base, and lots of cat hair🙂 I didn't have a lot of money. Now I have quite a few things, but struggle with focus and low spoons days,, so I don't utilize them like I wish I did. I wish more people talked about these types of things. I'm thinking of simplifying my space to help my attention span.

I've just recently moved my witchcraft stuff in my storage unit. I can excess it easily, but it's not omnipresent in my home anymore. I kind of like the idea of go downstairs and grab the things I want or need. In my apartment, I only focus on very few things, that I can easily store away if necessary. I feel so much lighter. 🙂 It's great!!

Another tip that I think often gets overlooked is to find hobbies, volunteer opportunities, or jobs that put you in the witchy space you want to be. Drawn to water? Take up kayaking, paddle boarding, or surfing. Want to spend more time in the woods? Check with local parks to see if they have naturalist training or need trail volunteers. Want to develop a relationship with animals? Wildlife Rehabilitation volunteer. Crystals? Geology club. Herbs? Part time job at a garden center or greenhouse. Then you get money AND a discount on your plants.

yeah sometimes we forget that witchcraft didn’t start with an aesthetic, it started with women using what they had in hand to practice their magic, usually day-to-day objects that wouldn’t be spotted by persecutors, so you can keep it simple and handy, you’ll feel even more connected to your practice bringing them close to your reality

Okay tips. I grew up in a violent household and other hobbies helped cover my tracks in a lot of areas. For example I liked writing and if I was ever questioned about some of the stuff I was researching I would just say it was for writing purposes. This will get different traction depending on the people you are dealing with. So only use it if you think it will work or try it with something less "dangerous(?)" first to test the waters. I didn't write things down, but if I had to do it again I think I would have tried lacing the information into prose. It may get noodly but at least it would have been there to decipher later. Granted online writing recourses are going to be way easier than this now a days. Just remember to log out! Also as a note if you are watching KZbin videos in the house some of the suggestions for you are going to be suggested to others on devices in that same house, so try to be mindful of that. Hobby 2. I was a rock nerd. I was a rock nerd before I got into tools. So when I brought home my first obviously shaped pendulum it was easy to write it off as I found this pretty rock at the rock store and it just has this stuff attached to it. "I'd rather not try to pry the stuff off as it is a soft rock and I don't want it to break." Though my first pendulum was actually a charm necklace and that was real easy to hide as it was just a necklace I wore every day. On the topic of hobbies like rocks or even plants, things that have magical and mundane information out there. Get the mundane books (buy or library or other) or study the mundane information. It will help you with the magical and it will create a mild cover for you accidentally find more esoteric information in your search for the mundane. For example knowing the physical characteristics of a stone are going to help you know how to and how not to cleanse it. (water soluble, reacts with water, fades in the sun) If you want to do divination the two that I can highly suggest from experience are dreams, they can't really see what you're doing in your sleep, and pendulums, see my example of using a charm necklace. Less traction on that last one of you are perceived as male, though if you are in a very Christian household you might be able to get away with wearing a cross and try it with that. It depends on how you feel about religious symbology. Another option for divination though I have never tried it myself is to learn how to read playing cards and then also learn a few games so that it always makes sense for you to have that item on your person. Good luck. And remember if your life or someone else's life depends on it it is okay to lie. If you will be thrown out or worse lie.

Such a great video! When I wasn't open about my practice most of my magic was around kitchen magic and green witch workings because people don't bat and eye when you are cooking. Actually, it was expected for me to learn to cook, so it gave me a lot of time to learn how to mix magic into what I was making and I got to see how people not only enjoyed my cooking but also the results of the spells I placed on them (nothing baneful, usually just protection/ health/ self-love workings). Green witchery workings - gardening and such - also didn't turn heads because growing food and herbs didn't seem witchy. Making salves, perfumes, and oxymels also didn't raise the alarms because that was herbalism in my families eyes despite each plant or herb being chosen for certain intentions for certain workings. Whenever I'm asked where to start with witchcraft and not be obviously outed as a witch I say, research (like you mentioned), kitchen, and green witchery. People look at those as skills not magic... which is good for those still in hiding. :)

Hi Frankie! If the mold is small yellow fuzzy balls, then you most likely don't need to worry, as it's a common fungus in soil that us harmless to the plant's health. However for removal, you can scrape out the soil with the mold and water the soil with a 1:4 hydrogen peroxide 3% to water mix and that should do the trick (hydrogen peroxide reacts with the fungus and once used dissolves into harmless water). This mix also helps with soil pests like fungus gnats etc... Also withholding watering for slightly longer also helps to slow fungus growth.

My travel alter could double as a camouflaged alter-it’s literally just a wooden box with some rocks, feathers, thorns, twigs, coins, a ring, a key, some string, seashells, a pin that belonged to my grandma, and a little jar. They’re all perfectly “ordinary” things, most of which I found outside, that are easy to justify having, but you can do a lot with them.

The fact that I did so much work as I was growing up without knowing it, just following my instinct; and way before the mere idea of actively practicing witchcraft even crossed my mind. It wasn’t until recently that I actively started following this path and I realised that I wash already doing it before. My mom taught me to place guards and have protections without even knowing it. We would just do things like placing a small bowl with seeds in the kitchen, a glass with water and vinegar in corner, limes and cloves… so when I explained to my mom that I was learning about witchcraft she wasn’t even surprised. But that just shows that little things can do so much.

If you want to research or work with mythologies/deities but are afraid of accidentally talking about it in front of your parents/guardians, read “Percy Jackson” and all of the Rick Riordan books. They’re really good and the plots revolve around different mythologies-mainly Greek and Roman, but there are also series about Norse and Egyptian as well, plus characters from many others. Take the myths in there with a grain of salt, as it’s used kind of like a twisted fairly tale and a lot of it is stretched to fit the story (you’ll definitely want to do supplementary research), but they are a good starting point to see what interests you. That way, if you start talking about these or other mythologies you’re interested in, your parents/guardians will just think, “oh, yeah, they’re just obsessed with those books they’ve been reading lately.” I hope this helps :)

Its really works wonderful ;) And... yeah, my first book about witchcraft was of Scott Cunningham... damn innocence xD, but that's not bad. It's part of learning😘 By the way, i'm a closet witch and this is a tip (if you like home crafts) to not leave your witchcraft books "too exposed": make covers for these books. You can make them not only for your witch books, but also for other books or notebooks that you have; It would be less suspicious that way.

If you can't use candles or flame, Dollar tree has some really nice LED lights. Dollar tree is just great for almost everything LOL also, huge agree on the nature. Go to the library people, get books on native plants and rocks and minerals, that's not only beneficial to you but it'll also make you look like you're learning a job career. Also, TEA BAGS, tea bags have herbs in them. Develop a tea habit, that's not suspicious at all as it's healthy. You'll be in deep with the herbs you need or might need. Plus tea is good for you. I keep editing this ,LOL. I used to use air fresheners for incense when I couldn't burn them due to my grandpa and his breathing problems. Bless the air freshener bottle write a sigil on it with your finger in your mind or pray or take it out side and ask nature , but it not only will make your room smell good but it also can act as a protectant and some air fresheners are sent it with corresponding since you might need or herbs etc. ALSO, quartz is the most common Crystal that you can find, anywhere. That's where the rocks and minerals books comes in. You can find them in streams, you can find them or gravel (because of limestone), quartz is like the white candle of the crystal world. Also, please don't mind the weird sentences, it's 2:00 a.m. here.

I’m not completely out to my family as a pagan but I am an artist which is wonderful as I work with Apollo. My entire drawing table is my alter space because I use my art as a method of worship, so the candles, drawings, bowl of “snacks” (offerings), and incense all just blend into the aesthetic of my space! Subtle doesn’t mean insignificant.

Mold is actually good for plants (i think) because in nature fungi help the plants a lot! Most of my plants have white fluffy mold and they are really healthy. Just make sure its not because you water them too much :)

An altar in and of itself it just a space cleared to lay tools and do workings on. That's it. It can be temporary or permanent. Most people seem to blend what an altar is with what a shrine is it seems.

I'm broomcloseted and my mother would be the christain nut that would freak out... she's also a narc. Anyway, my dad n bro would find it weird but i dont think they'd care much. I do have an altar and my fam knows that I luv candles, but I call my altar my "meditation nook". I have really bad anxiety and i try to meditate to help with that. I also just call myself a "spiritual practitioner" or a "spiritual self-healer" rather than a witch. I've explained that to one of my older relatives that I think is christian n just said "I do spiritual practice to heal myself from childhood trauma and to help with my anxiety" and she seemed to understand. And im not completely lying to anyone. I do practice witchcraft spiritually. I'm going through a lot of self healing right now through shadow work and counseling. I collect regular rocks too, but i draw sigils on them n call them "doodles", like rock decor. lol. And instead of calling it a spell, if anyone like me ma asks, I just say I'm manifesting in a "spiritual sense". I mostly do money manifesting rituals or self care with bath rituals. Calling something a ritual doesnt really mean it's witchcraft, right? Idk, everything seems to go smooth. Oh, i do practice with tarot and a pendulum... I just say "my aunt has a bunch of tarot n oracle decks bc she's a spiritual practitioner (and she is, she doesnt consider herself a witch)" and for the pendulum-- "I was curious and wanted to try it. its really cool...and pretty." That is something I can say bc my fam knows i believe in ghosts and enjoy horror movies and go on ghost hunts....... so my fam not SUPER or STRICTLY religious.. but some of them dont need to know I practice witchcraft.

I am lucky to have a family that is curious enough let me educate them about it but they still act like I need Jesus lol. Before I was out to my family I used a small box or tin as my altar, something pocket sized and said I really liked candles. Also- nature can be your altar, set up rock circles. Meditation near water streams. Sigils are also great and subtle, embroider and paint them onto things. Color magic man- just wear colors with intention. Make crafts with intentions. I make jewelry with spiritual meaning that I wear very frequently. It can be as simple as kandi bracelets (pony bead bracelets). Also- veils if that resonates with you, bandanas. Wind chimes for sound cleansing. I feel like this is a lot of what Frankie already said but here you go!

I have a corner of my desk as my altar. To everyone else it just looks like a collection treasures I’ve found. And given my whole family obsessively collects rocks and shells and interesting sticks it’s not remarked on at all

If the mold is white and fuzzy it may not be mold. I had a harmless, white, fuzzy fungus grow on my plants’ soil when they were young because of how often I had to water them. It didn’t hurt them and when my plants got big enough to block the light from the soil it went away

Hey Frankie!! Thank you so much for these tips! Such a great video! I’m still very new at this and still learning. I was so nervous to let my husband in on my path but thankfully, he didn’t really care about what I was into as long as it made me happy. These are some great tips! I’ve found that mundane stores also carry possibly witchy items, which can help “disguise” your shopping habits. Stores like HomeGoods and bath and body works. I actually just got a huge slab of selenite at HomeGoods and, a Palo santo candle from b&bw. Also, Home Depot and lowes have some really cute plants to add to sacred spaces too :)

Hey Frankie do you have any tips for things you would usually do with candles if you don't have access to candles? Dorms don't allow candles
@mgcly444
@mgcly444 2 жыл бұрын
Are you allowed a candle warmer? Mine did and it was only like $9. You could draw your sigil on one in the color correspondence you are working with and just put it on the warmer in a glass candle holder, Mason jar etc. It will evaporate/burn down only a bit slower than with an actual flame. 🧡

Just do everything in pink and flowers 💐 Also a Bible I've seen passages used by non Christians so you could have one out that you can copy from to make spells and it'll look like you're writing and memorizing verses😂 Mother Mary is also very popular to work with or worship With all that slowly mixed in you could probably work in some stuff you just think is pretty or cool.🤣 Kids. Use terms like 'but mom it's SUCH an aesthetic!' Use the generational divide. I'm older though and now appreciate the pretty art like some crosses and treating the Bible like a story. I assume most have issues with Christian parents coming here. And typically female For other religions I can't say what you can get away with. For boys maybe hide it with a hunting interest? But on you whether you want to actually hunt. (My husband is Nordic pagan and appreciates where his food comes from and thanks the land and animal for what they give. Hates factory farmed sad animals.) You could try it's from a video game or lord of the rings but even then. I remember when Harry Potter came out and the poor kids who couldn't watch that. Ooooooh guys get into carpentry and woodwork or welding
