I filmed this video in 2020. I then only edited it last year, and I've sat on it since November. Why? Because I sat on it thinking, "Do people really need this video again?" But I thought about it, ran it across all my friends, and figured, yeah, we do. It never hurts to go over basics again, and it also never hurts to have a better, new and improved version of something that many people stated that they felt helped them so much early on. Hopefully, it's still helpful. Best of luck~ Some interesting reads: news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2002/04/meditation-changes-temperatures/ mindmatters.ai/2019/09/tibetan-monks-can-change-their-metabolism/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_geometry { b o o k s } Mysticism and Mathematics amzn.to/3uAVDBF The Body: A Guide for Occupants amzn.to/3L0IQhs Conversations With Plants: The Path Back to Nature amzn.to/3upgMOT Astrophysics for People in a Hurry amzn.to/3s9ZClx

"Magic is just science we don't understand" is such a reasonable, healthy perspective. I'm agnostic, science-seeking, but I've always been deeply drawn to witchery, rituals, and spiritual/scientific unknowns. It's been hard to embrace that piece of me because I don’t want to seem "woo woo" or crazy. Thanks for emphasizing that being a witch doesn't mean you don't believe in science and/or believe in the supernatural. Science and the mundane should always take priority. Mad respect!!

I’m new to the practice and I used the term “baby witch” to a priest of a coven and he said “no you’re not helpless you’re not a baby, you’re just new.” And that totally hit me. I learned that term online and I realized I have been keeping my socializing with witches digital. Now that I’m finally opening up in person it’s so different! That’s one of my biggest tips is find like minded people and learn from each other! Talk to them in person and raise your energy and theirs it’s so life changing. Thank you for this video, I found it at the perfect time

I hate the term baby witch. No one here are babies, young maybe, but not babies. If you're new to practicing say you're new, but don't call yourself a baby. The only baby witches are those babies being raised in the craft.

I've been practicing since I was 14, I'm 30 now. Hello!! Fifteen year old aspiring witch here- I just wanted to say that it's so lovely to hear this? For me it just came naturally and since I was young...5,6,7 and it was interesting to watch my daughter, without any encouragement, never even saw me do anything, but started to practice on her own quite young which at that point I had to step in and warn her to be careful and teach her that from now on everything she says or thinks will have power behind it, so she needs to control herself, her moods, thoughts and words.

When you talk about magick being science that we don't understand yet, I immediately think of the placebo effect. I know many people use it as a way to discount the effects of drugs and treatments, but witchcraft fully embraces the importance of one's mindset. Other than that it exists, the field of psychology hasn't really established how it works, only that it can be surprisingly strong (sometimes as strong as morphine in studies on pain).

We didn't have all the resources that there are now. We just learned by trial and error. Right!! We didn't have all the places to get our tools..I guess this is why I don't use so many of them. I mainly just use myself and my intention..I have always loved herbs..I make oils for a shop in our town..I truely love my job..I love helping people by crafting so many things. "Just because we're able to explain something shouldn't make it any less magickal." For a while now, some jaded part of me has held me back from learning things in general (very uncharacteristic of me) because it believed I "would lose that magical feeling of wonderment" for whatever it was. I now firmly believe I was drawn here to hear that. Learning is what keeps the magickal feeling alive. Thank you and looking forward to learning from you.

Great video Olivia :) This is THE video every beginner needs. Many beginner videos are "How to", "What to buy" or "What to read" videos..and those are awesome videos for new practioners . However, THIS video speaks to the self doubt and feelings of confusion that a beginner often has. I remember when I started on my path I thought I was doing it all wrong and comparing myself to others. I couldn't afford all the fancy tools. I didn't live in a nicely wooded area where I could sit under a huge tree and journal. It made me very discouraged. With tons of information at your fingertips. It’s important to know that everything you need is right where you are and what works for you is what's best. Blessings

For me I have always loved magic and fantasy but because of mainstream media I thought witches are mainly bad. But I always kind of knew I was a witch. A subconscious voice or well my faery companion telling me I will find out in the right time when I am at my lowest. Which happened last year. Now I remember how I used magic to heal from mental wounds. And to be strong and independent. And I still do that now while also trying to help people. And I always worked with fairies/faeries/spirits/mythological creatures and nature. But I also always did Lucid dreaming/ outer body experiences (but I am very sceptic of the outer body experience part) and I like to work with divination. Now I am celebrating Imbolc. all these years I always wondered why I used to feel so powerful and happy in around this time (and around Ostara). why could I sense the spring coming while it was still snowing outside? With witchcraft everything starts making sense.

Freedom, that's why I searched, and still search for witchcraft. The more I precticed witchcraft, the more I felt that the whole porpuse of this practice was to be completely, gloriously human. I had a few spiritual/religious crisis so I am not constant with my practice and study, but I always enjoy witchy content, they give me lots of knowledge to explore myself, I have an emotional bond with this kind of spiritual path. Also, ps: That's one nice coat

I'm so happy that you decided to go ahead and post this video, because you covered so many things that I still see around on the internet, Quora is a big one, that I feel shut beginning practitioners out and make the witchcraft and occult space seem closed off when it really isn't. Hurdles that I see a lot of now that a lot of beginners may have a hard time getting over are labels (titles) and organized spaces (covens, specifically Wiccan-based). I see a lot of negative gatekeeping in these two areas; "You can't call yourself THAT, it's not a real term!", "A male practitioner is a WARLOCK not a witch", "You can't use those tools because only the High Priest/Priestess can!". Now, like you said in the video I completely understand that titles/labels matter in an organized setting and that not everyone who is a magical practitioner will be comfortable identifying as a witch but when you push your own practices onto someone else as truth and law, especially to a beginner, that's just not okay and it frustrates me greatly to see this being done so much. The last thing that I think is a big hurdle, because it was one of my own when I was first getting started and I really appreciate you addressing it, is the fact that beginners really need to know that they do not need "all the things" to be a practitioner. When I first started dabbling in witchcraft back in '08-'09, anytime I tried to look up spells they were always so complicated and required lots of different tools (some I had never heard of), long lines of incantations, and it was all very ceremonial in style. I can't think of a single resource I tried to find that gave me alternatives to the tools used in the spell or even a simpler spell that I could have scrounged up what I needed in the kitchen. It's imperative that this information reaches the ears of beginners, but that we who may be more experienced even get reminded of it often, so thank you so much for going ahead and posting this video.

I really needed to hear all this! Thank you so much! I was actually on your channel and clicked on the search icon to see what you had on Knot magic, and not too far down the list, this video came up. Thank you again for making and deciding to post it. p.s. Love the outfit!

I know I am a little late to the channel but I am truly grateful. Also I love how the bird told you hello!! This resonated me because animals have really been drawn to me ever since I've claimed my essence as a witch. Still a bit closeted but starting to come out of the cage a bit. Much love and blessings 🙏🏻 a special thank you to Kloee Taylor who referred your channel

This video was utterly magical. And that's not a pun, it looks like a winter wonderland. And that cloak looks incredible. I think we all picture ourselves walking through the trees like you were doing in the intro.🖤🖤🖤

Something that you said that reminded me that I really like your videos (among other witchy KZbinrs). Is that the term 'Witch' is gender neutral. That's very true! My dad who introduced me to witchcraft called himself that and said the exact same thing☺️

Because I've seen others argue about that... And it bothers me to a point.. But any who! ☺️💜
