If you listen to TW often enough you will learn some words that even though English is their second language they are so well-read that they know things that native speakers might not. It's a necessity to have a good working vocabulary for what I do in publishing. But sometimes I wonder where they learned some of their words. In this song they use "rapacity", meaning excessive and obsessive greed. On the Keep Me Fed album Pau used the word 'debase' in a song that Anton DeLost didn't know. After telling him it means to devalue something he advised her not to use it. And she said to him, "It's a word and if you don't know it, that's a 'you' problem."

When you work with words for a living it’s pretty easy to see how artists are going to be at the leading edge of their usage. Your wonder is a wonder to me. Neither of those words were especially obscure.

I have to mention here that there’s a short acoustic version of this that they did for the Preston and Steve show here in Philadelphia. The cool part is that because Dany was resting her voice, Pau sings it, and blows the hosts away completely; one of them said “You’re not the lead singer?” (You also get Ale doing Dany’s “give me that, I want that” chant.) FYI: "Money" was premiered on March 15, 2022 prior to it being released publicly when TW opened for the Foo Fighters at the Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City, 10 days prior to the death of Taylor Hawkins, drummer for the FFs. There were 55k+ in attendance and it was raining during their set. Back stage Taylor Hawkins waved to them and said, "You were awesome." RIP: Taylor. That performance is on TW's YT channel. The performance is live with the studio recording dubbed over. I love the questions: Would you rather be poor and happy or rich and happy? Would you rather be poor and un-happy or rich and un-happy? I had a rich college math instructor, his family owned coffee plantations that supply coffee beans to Starbucks and owns a villa in Italy and Spain, who told us college students, "Money can't buy you happiness." I say, give me the "Money" and let me find out for myself. Hey, crank your system loud enough so you can't hear your neighbors bitch or the voices in your head!
