If I just look at his raw skills alone, he has what it takes to be a QB in the league. Good in the pocket. Elite release. Accurate passer. If he's on a bad team he'll likely get sacked often as I doubt he'll have as much time in the pocket as he displayed from <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="57">0:57</a> to <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="65">1:05</a>. Maybe once in awhile, but more times than not he gets sacked within 2-3 seconds in the pros. The issue isn't the QB; it's the O-line that he's going to have. Fixing up the o-line SHOULD be the priority for the team he gets drafted on - to give him extra protection. If he can play behind an average o-line, with average receivers, he'll be looking at 15-20 TD's with a QB rating around 80. I'll call that a successful rookie season. Burrow had the best college season ever at the time, and he had a QB rating close to 90 in his rookie year. Jayden Daniels surpassed him, and had a rookie QB rating of over 100. So I feel Cam Ward will be under both of those guys. I feel he'll have a similar career to Cam Newton (minus the rush game) if all goes as planned.

As a Browns fan myself, I hope we don’t draft him. Maybe he’ll be good but I can’t predict that based on his tape - these aren’t NFL level throws that he’s making, throwing windows are wide open which are looks that he’s never going to get at the next level.

Sure hes a capable qb when everything is working around him. Just as caleb williams is finding out, at the pro level its not easy to play qb when you have no protection. Ward is mostly protected in these highlights. On the giants as they stand now, he would be under assault immediately after the snap and he will very likely look awful and get called a bust to start his career. Can he mentally withstand that? Thats the key here. Eli manning wasnt great his first couple seasons but he was very mentally strong. He just kept working. Some guys cant handle it. I wouldnt spend too much time watching ward highlights. I would be more interested in trying to break him in interviews and see how he handles it. There is a lot of pressure and this isnt for the weak. Not every college qb gets lucky and gets drafted into a situation where it was just a qb away from having a good season. Mahomes went to a team that was very good before he got there. He was very lucky to go there.

Few of those TD’s would’ve been most likely picked in the NFL. I like his pocket presence. He’s got a good release. Strong and can pick up yards needed with his legs . Especially on 3rd down. Don’t want to see him even thinking he’s a runner 🏃 n the NFL though. Only a smart decision maker , when running. Those DE’s and LB’s will humble any thought of that at the next level though. Overall I like him . Reminds me of a Russel Wilson , with a touch of Bernie Kosar with his release. I’d like to see him go somewhere that runs a lot of Offense out of the gun. I think he’s got a bright future. He will learn that some of these highlights here are “ what not to do” in the NFL. But that doesn’t reflect the potential of this kid.
