Aright Deano, reckon I was in Trenchers a couple of days after you filmed that review. I had small cod, chips and mushy peas. Yeah it was very good. I’ve also dined in the Magpie on a couple of occasions and couldn’t fault what I had in there either.

Great review Deano. We’ve visited Trenchers twice in the past and loved it. Expensive, yes, but I suppose that’s what to expect when it’ll have been freshly caught by the local fishermen. I would be happy to pay that little bit more to support the locals. We’ve also done Murgatroyd’s quite a few times (handily right opposite the Premier Inn where we stay when using the airport). See what you think when you review it, but personally I reckon Trenchers just has the edge. Just subscribed and I’ll be watching your other videos in due course 👍🏼😁

Trenches is definitely on our list to try. Gary eats did it earlier this year and it looked just as good as yours. Murgatroyds is good, we’ve been twice. You must try kingfishers at Wakefield, that’s our favourite 😊

Trenchers is good mr chips over the bridge i found to be really good as well.Angel fisheries next to the hotel is very good if you wanted a good breakfast then just up from the angel fishery as in your vlog the singing kettle 10/10 better than spoons for the same money.

Sherry trifle! 😀👍 vinegar first gives the salt something to stick to. Putting pepper on reminds me staying at The Grand in Scarborough i put what i thought was cheese sauce on my lasagne & chips, turned out it was custard...but i still ate it 😂 The fish & chips look lovely...got to be curry sauce 👍

Glad your experience was far better than mine. Went last year for my 60th , cod was as thin as plaice, chips ok but the plate was swimming in oil. Very disapointed. Overated, used to be great back in the 80's .

LOL - your wise subscribers like Trenchers cos Gary went there in the last 6 months and they love him as much as they love you. The Magpie lovers are far less adventurous but let's not crow (I'll get my coat lol). I love the locally caught dressed crab when I go to Whitby and Scarbella. Did you see the Walrus Man who only does food in Whitby by any chance? Remember, takeaways are zero VAT but if you plonk yourself down to eat you pay 20% VAT. That said, I think you are right in assuming that more care goes into the restaurant meals and you have much more choice and greater ambiance. And heck, you have a very wide choice on that menu. Looking at the clientele though, I reckon you were the youngest one there! The portion and golden chips looked incredible but the 'small' cod made up in thickness what it lost in length and looked gorgeous. The home made tartare sauce looked wonderful too. If I went in there, I don't think I would ever leave! And look at the queue as you left !

The Yorkshire gold ones are ok but easily beaten by cheap Lidl gold tea bags. I don’t think Lidl has reached Canada yet though unfortunately.

You can't go wrong with fish and chips, Deano! It looked reight to me! A bit pricy, but it's good that you are flexing your wallet. And if you want to give your wallet a real flexing, then I would highly recommend doing a food review at the Ritz. Although you might strain your wallet afterwards, but think of the ratings!

Bit heavy price but lookedgood ...here sunny sheffield ..two massive papas opened last three year in top sight pubs .. ...the boss man took his eye well off the ball spent a ton doing up then charged top whack for mediocre meals both shut within a couple a years now both wendys really goid burgers .....glad you finally got a cooplands goody bag got one yestday ,,they are tons better then gregs 3.30 ...18 poundsworth a tuck ,,look forward seeing how big yours is ...great vlog

Both are serving extremely good Fish & Chips... The first place offers table service dining inside... As well as doing Takeaway... And it's called Maypole Fisheries... Situated at... 28, Cross Green, Otley, Leeds. LS21 1HD... The second place is called George-a-Green Fisheries... Situated at... 89, George A Green Road, Wakefield. WF2 8HA... Maypole Fisheries was visited 12 months ago by "Everyday I'm Eating"... And George-a-Green Fisheries was visited just 3 months ago by "Rate My Takeaway"... Both of these Fish & Chip Shops are using traditional Beef Dripping to fry in... And if i can... Deano, Trenchers is brilliant of course and you are right to say that they are the best in Whitby, however, as a lass from Leeds ( and I am not biased at all !!!!?????) Murgatroyds is by far the best in Leeds in Yorkshire in the UK and in the WORLD believe me try it you will not be disappointed and of course you will have to stop being a wuzz and get the giant one its out of this world. Jeez l- it is called a 'QUAYSIDE' where boats tie up and unload their passengers. Small skiffs, rowing boats, fishing boats. You'll find STEPS at various places. A 'QUAYSIDE'!
