One of the things that gets lost in Lamar's bad playoff game against the Titans in 2019 is that he had over 500 yards of offense to go with those 3 turnovers. I know 3 turnovers is costly, but when you put up 500 yards and it's still considered a bad day then we may need to think about what metric we're using.

I wish you would have added some additional context to some of those playoff games.... as an example: - He gets criticized more than any other QB for his playoff record, and they always include his rookie season, where he only played 7 games prior to the playoffs and the entire offense was restructured on the fly to try to suit his strengths. - Last year against the Chiefs, It wasn't ALL on Lamar. The ravens ran 6 times the entire game (for a team that was top tier in rushing), Zay getting a taunting penalty near the goal line, Zay also fumbling at the 1 yard line... It was self inflicted by the team. - Against the Titans, his WRs couldn't catch a cold, let alone a pass. - Against the Bills, Allen also played like ass and Lamar got concussed. He did throw a pick, so that's on him. Also, it wasn't until last year that he actually got ANY WR help, as well as an OC that knew how to design passing plays (Greg Roman is known for rushing, and his passing plays are sub-par and predictable).

Comments told me everything I needed to know. Seeing things like “Media Coddled” and “DEI MVP” are phrases I love to see because it proves to me how much people despise Lamar for absolutely no reason. Make no mistake, hating Lamar and criticizing Lamar, are not the same things. There are things to be critical of Lamar about, absolutely there is. Or even if you like QB’s who are little less mobile but can sling it far, fine, there’s nothing wrong with that. But let’s not pretend that Lamar hasn’t been a target coming into the league. A Heisman winner comes into the draft, gets picked up at 32nd, not a big deal. Brady got picked late, it’s fine. But now he’s getting told to switch to wide receiver or running back because he’s “too short” and other invalid criticisms. He gets his contract extended and people are saying it’s “a waste of money”. He wins a second MVP, which was a down year for players, and it’s now just a “DEI MVP” because he didn’t have the stats to back it up. Now he has the stats to back it up, and the narrative is swapped. My hypothesis has always been that people never cared who won the MVP last year, they just never wanted Lamar to win. Allen gets put into the same position as Lamar last year, it’s a “pity MVP”, and the response is that “Lamar won it last year”. If he wins the third, I can’t even imagine the public outcry there will be, only because Lamar won it. Public opinion might not matter for some, but the media matters for a lot of people. And by god, there’s not another place that ridicules Lamar more than the media. Lamar can win 3 championships in the next 3 seasons, and the media will find a way to push him back and shift the goalpost. You have countless commentators that won’t give another Quarterback the same amount of flack that they give Lamar. You might say “He’s a 2 time MVP, we expect more out of him”. There are talking heads around that say he doesn’t even deserve the two he has now. He isn’t Media Coddled just because he won two MVP’s. The NFL being in the same sentence as DEI is laughable, considering this is the same place that loves to show off players like Favre, but will shun the ones like Kaepernick. Or my favorite, having a franchise not hire Mike Tomlin, a future HOF coach, because he’s “too hip-hop”. Does that sound too DEI for you? Allen gets a video that calls him overhated, every comment is written with love and apologies. Lamar gets the same video, and there’s a split of appreciation and laughing at the thought of him being hated.

They got the Lamar Jackson narrative backwards when he was coming out of college. There’s a pretty consistent tell with QBs coming into the league that not many people acknowledge. If a QB blows up in college and elevates a program from out of nowhere to new heights, that guy is a practical lock for success in the NFL. Ben Rothlisberger did it coming out of Miami OH, Chad Pennington did it coming out of Marshall, Drew Brees did it at Purdue, Pat Mahomes came out of Texas Tech, Aaron Rodgers out of Cal. It’s a much better predictor of their pro impact, unlike the next big thing from football U, they’re not surrounded by All-Pro talent that may mask their shortcomings. You’re seeing their effect on the level of the players around them more than you would at a traditional powerhouse. This isn’t to say that you don’t get stud QBs out of the big programs, you do, but when a guy shows up in a power league and suddenly has his team competing with national champions, pay attention to that dude.

I’m seeing a lot of comments about how they don’t want black superstar quarterbacks. Absolutely ridiculous statement. Because it needs to be more specific. The NFL absolutely wants to push black quarterbacks and it’s super obvious. I’m not saying some of them are not deserving. I’m just saying it’s definitely a push. What you’re detecting is a bias against being ‘too dark.’ Lamar is ‘too dark.’ They want them light like Jalen hurts and / or mixed like Mahomes. I really do think that just saying there’s a bias against black quarterbacks and they don’t want that is not accurate. Take this however you want, but this is exactly what I believe is happening. I think it’s way too simplistic and inaccurate to say they don’t want black star quarterbacks when they clearly do.
