† can't be topped because it had the element of suprise this album lacks. It was two relatively unknown French guys with only a single and a bunch of remixes under their belt coming out with a perfect album that single-handedly redefined and revitalized the French Touch scene with an eclectic sound which is equal parts disco house and electroclash, while making Ed Banger *THE* label for stylish electric music in the late 00s - early 10s and paving the way for this whole "the 80s were so cool, but they weren't 80s enough!" thing we have going on now. I have a feeling that technically speaking, WOMAN may be their masterpiece (unless they come out with something even better, that is). But † is the first love.

I can't be the only one who views Alakazam! as the prelude to Safe and Sound both musically and thematically. Safe and Sound lyrics talk about a race in progress, while Alakazam! is a 3-part windup, with each part increasing the intensity and length of the windup itself. It's like Alakazam! is showcasing the circuit and the preparations for the race, while Safe and Sound is the soundtrack to the event itself. Just my opinion here.

I want more of this and less lyric-driven music for Justice. All my favs from them have no speaking parts: Alakazam!, Planisphere, Genesis, Parade, Chorus, Canon, Phantom I & II, Waters of Nazereth and One Minute to Midnight. I play guitar and I tried making music on my PC purely using samples. Playing or improvising live on an instrument is harder in my experience than composing electronic music but you have to be good at using recording software so these days everyone is an engineer who plays a live instrument. Talent is overrated. Practice makes perfect.
