I first heard this in 2021, during a really rough time. I was dealing with an eating disorder and stuck in a toxic relationship. That same year, my childhood best friend tried to take her own life. She sent me a message before taking the pills, and I called her mom in a panic, hoping they’d get there in time. A couple of days later, she messaged me saying, “You saved my life.” But she had no idea I’d tried to end mine just days before. We were both struggling, but we didn’t talk about it. Around that time, I got a recommendation on KZbin for Justice Der’s playlist. I clicked on it because I liked the album cover-the colors just felt calming. His guitar covers ended up being something I could rely on. I listened every day while I drew, and it helped me get through. Now, three years later, I still listen to that playlist with the same appreciation I had back then. I’ve got someone in my life who really loves me, and I shared the playlist with him the day we met. Wonderful album, cheers Justice and Steezy. I'm really glad to have this channel, this internet 'scene' - it feels like a lot of us are pressuring ourselves to keep up with the cool trends around right now, but it feels like this really easy, laid-back scene doesn't really have any elitism, it's populated by people into all kinds of different music, and it's just a vibe of genuine appreciation. But as theneedledrop said - why aren't there cafe/pub lofi sets? cmon, man. Where are the lofi djs? I'm living in Berlin, if someone's putting on a lofi hip hop dj night let me know man.
